    O ensaio emerge como resultado das ações desenvolvidas no projeto de pesquisa “Dimensão poética das linguagens e educação da infância”, desencadeado para aprofundar estudos desenvolvidos em torno da imaginação criadora e educação da infância. Nossos estudos aproximam duas áreas do conhecimento – Literatura e Artes Plásticas – visando desenvolver fundamentação teórico-metodológica no que se refere ao poder inventivo das linguagens. A intenção é problematizar a separação entre as linguagens nas ações pedagógicas com crianças pequenas e para tanto o grupo organizou e promoveu “Oficinas Poéticas” com crianças entre quatro e cinco anos da EMEI Pingo de Gente no Memorial da UNISC. No espaço e tempo do ateliê planejamos, organizamos e realizamos, através de “rodas poéticas”, ações com pintura, desenho, literatura e poesia. As crianças brincam com as materialidades e com o outro que está com elas e da imprevisibilidade das interações emerge, de modo inseparável, uma alegria, um divertimento e uma tensão que especificam o jogo (Huizinga, 2004). A metodologia sustenta-se num processo de interação propositiva intensa com as materialidades, os tempos e os espaços do ateliê na intenção de ampliar repertórios tanto das crianças quanto dos adultos a partir da dinâmica relação lúdica entre corpo, palavra e imagem

    Reciprocal Effects of Fibroblast Growth Factor Receptor Signaling on Dengue Virus Replication and Virion Production

    International audienceDengue virus (DENV) is a human arboviral pathogen accounting for 390 million infections every year. The available vaccine has limited efficacy, and DENV-specific drugs have not been generated. To better understand DENV-host cell interaction, we employed RNA interference-based screening of the human kinome and identified fibroblast growth factor receptor 4 (FGFR4) to control the DENV replication cycle. Pharmacological inhibition of FGFR exerts a reciprocal effect by reducing DENV RNA replication and promoting the production of infectious virus particles. Addressing the latter effect, we found that the FGFR signaling pathway modulates intracellular distribution of DENV particles in a PI3K-dependent manner. Upon FGFR inhibition, virions accumulate in the trans-Golgi network compartment, where they undergo enhanced maturation cleavage of the envelope protein precursor membrane (prM), rendering virus particles more infectious. This study reveals an unexpected reciprocal role of a cellular receptor tyrosine kinase regulating DENV RNA replication and the production of infectious virions

    Recommendations for the nutrition management of phenylalanine hydroxylase deficiency

    The effectiveness of a phenylalanine-restricted diet to improve the outcome of individuals with phenylalanine hydroxylase deficiency (OMIM no. 261600) has been recognized since the first patients were treated 60 years ago. However, the treatment regime is complex, costly, and often difficult to maintain for the long term. Improvements and refinements in the diet for phenylalanine hydroxylase deficiency have been made over the years, and adjunctive therapies have proven to be successful for certain patients. Yet evidence-based guidelines for managing phenylalanine hydroxylase deficiency, optimizing outcomes, and addressing all available therapies are lacking. Thus, recommendations for nutrition management were developed using evidence from peer-reviewed publications, gray literature, and consensus surveys. The areas investigated included choice of appropriate medical foods, integration of adjunctive therapies, treatment during pregnancy, monitoring of nutritional and clinical markers, prevention of nutrient deficiencies, providing of access to care, and compliance strategies. This process has not only provided assessment and refinement of current nutrition management and monitoring recommendations but also charted a direction for future studies. This document serves as a companion to the concurrently published American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics guideline for the medical treatment of phenylalanine hydroxylase deficiency

    Neurosurgery outcomes and complications in a monocentric 7-year patient registry

    Introduction Capturing adverse events reliably is paramount for clinical practice and research alike. In the era of “big data”, prospective registries form the basis of clinical research and quality improvement. Research question To present results of long-term implementation of a prospective patient registry, and evaluate the validity of the Clavien-Dindo grade (CDG) to classify complications in neurosurgery. Materials and methods A prospective registry for cranial and spinal neurosurgical procedures was implemented in 2013. The CDG – a complication grading focused on need for unplanned therapeutic intervention – was used to grade complications. We assess construct validity of the CDG. Results Data acquisition integrated into our hospital workflow permitted to include all eligible patients into the registry. We have registered 8226 patients that were treated in 11994 surgeries and 32494 consultations up until December 2020. Similarly, we have captured 1245 complications on 6308 patient discharge forms (20%) since full operational status of the registry. The majority of complications (819/6308 ​= ​13%) were treated without invasive treatment (CDG 1 or CDG 2). At discharge, there was a clear correlation of CDG and the Karnofsky Performance Status (KPS, rho ​= ​-0.29, slope -7 KPS percentage points per increment of CDG) and the length of stay (rho ​= ​0.43, slope 3.2 days per increment of CDG)

    UNHCR data1 shows that we are currently witnessing the highest levels of displacement on record, with 68.5 million forcibly displaced people worldwide and 44,400 people forced to flee their homes each day because of conflict and persecution. Many of these people are internally displaced and are living in IDP camps in their countries of origin, others have travelled to neighbouring countries, and others still have journeyed to Europe. Among them is a rising number of women and girls, who are not only exposed to various forms of sexual and gender-based violence in their homelands, but also along the way and upon arrival in Europe.     Within the framework of the multilateral EU-project "Finding Education for Female Inmates" (FEFI), ten partners from eight European countries cooperated on the subject of formal and informal education for adolescent and adult women in prison. Women in prison are a particularly underrepresented group due to their small number (3 to 7%) of the total prison population in all of the partners’ countries . The project aimed to improve and increase participation in lifelong learning by female prisoners who are an integral component of a vulnerable and disadvantaged group - a socially stigmatized group, as well as prisoners and as women.peer-reviewe

    Azimuthal anisotropy of charged jet production in root s(NN)=2.76 TeV Pb-Pb collisions

    We present measurements of the azimuthal dependence of charged jet production in central and semi-central root s(NN) = 2.76 TeV Pb-Pb collisions with respect to the second harmonic event plane, quantified as nu(ch)(2) (jet). Jet finding is performed employing the anti-k(T) algorithm with a resolution parameter R = 0.2 using charged tracks from the ALICE tracking system. The contribution of the azimuthal anisotropy of the underlying event is taken into account event-by-event. The remaining (statistical) region-to-region fluctuations are removed on an ensemble basis by unfolding the jet spectra for different event plane orientations independently. Significant non-zero nu(ch)(2) (jet) is observed in semi-central collisions (30-50% centrality) for 20 <p(T)(ch) (jet) <90 GeV/c. The azimuthal dependence of the charged jet production is similar to the dependence observed for jets comprising both charged and neutral fragments, and compatible with measurements of the nu(2) of single charged particles at high p(T). Good agreement between the data and predictions from JEWEL, an event generator simulating parton shower evolution in the presence of a dense QCD medium, is found in semi-central collisions.     Production of He-4 and (4) in Pb-Pb collisions at root(NN)-N-S=2.76 TeV at the LHC

    Results on the production of He-4 and (4) nuclei in Pb-Pb collisions at root(NN)-N-S = 2.76 TeV in the rapidity range vertical bar y vertical bar <1, using the ALICE detector, are presented in this paper. The rapidity densities corresponding to 0-10% central events are found to be dN/dy4(He) = (0.8 +/- 0.4 (stat) +/- 0.3 (syst)) x 10(-6) and dN/dy4 = (1.1 +/- 0.4 (stat) +/- 0.2 (syst)) x 10(-6), respectively. This is in agreement with the statistical thermal model expectation assuming the same chemical freeze-out temperature (T-chem = 156 MeV) as for light hadrons. The measured ratio of (4)/He-4 is 1.4 +/- 0.8 (stat) +/- 0.5 (syst). (C) 2018 Published by Elsevier B.V.Peer reviewe
