    Game-Based Learning Outcomes Among Physiotherapy Students: Comparative Study

    Background: University teaching methods are changing, and in response to a classical teacher-centered approach, new methods continue to strengthen knowledge acquisition by involving students more actively in their learning, thus achieving greater motivation and commitment. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the degree of satisfaction of physiotherapy students who used a board game–based approach, as well as to compare the difference between traditional and gamification teaching methods and their influence on the final evaluation of these students. Methods: A comparative study was conducted. Participants were physiotherapy students who were enrolled in the subject of “physiotherapy in geriatric and adult psychomotricity” (n=59). They were divided into two groups (experimental [n=29] and control [n=30] groups) through convenience sampling. The experimental group received gamification lessons, where the students performed different tests adapted from Party&Co, and the control group received traditional lessons. A total of 16 theoretical lessons were received in both groups. Results: The scores in the final examination of the subject were higher in the experimental group (mean 7.53, SD 0.95) than in the control group (mean 6.24, SD 1.34), showing a statistically significant difference between the two groups (P=.001). Conclusions: Overall, the “Physiotherapy Party” game not only stimulated learning and motivated students, but also improved learning outcomes among participants, and the improvements were greater than those among students who received traditional teaching

    El siguiente informe se realiza, a fin de analizar y reflexionar frente al relato de Amparo, como víctima del conflicto armado interno que presenta la comisión de la verdad, en su espacio historias que retornan capítulo 3. Quien cuenta su experiencia y la lucha que ha tenido para enfrentar los flagelos que le ha dejado el conflicto, como el exilio, desaparición forzada, silencio e impunidad, mediante el desarrollo de una serie de preguntas en relación a los emergente psicosociales, posicionamiento como sobreviviente, experiencia subjetiva, recursos resilientes y de afrontamiento y se plantean preguntas de tipo: circulares, reflexivas y estratégicas, para el abordaje y acercamiento psicosocial del relato, desde una perspectiva narrativa. También, se da a conocer una propuesta de enfoque psicosocial, por medio de la reflexión de diferentes ítems en relación a los emergentes psicosociales, impactos bio-psico-socio-culturales, elementos simbólicos significativos (violencia, resiliencia y trasformación), y se proponen estrategias psicosociales orientadas al fortalecimiento de los recursos de afrontamiento, para el caso la masacre del salado: relatos de resiliencia después de veinte años, población víctima de asesinato, tortura, terror, violencia sexual contra mujeres y desplazamiento forzado por parte del grupo armado (AUC). Finalmente, se muestra un informe reflexivo y analítico frente a diferentes dinámicas de violencia abordadas en la ciudad de Bogotá en las localidades de Ciudad Bolívar, Tunjuelito y Chapinero, y en el municipio de Soacha-Cundinamarca, desde la técnica foto-voz.The following report is carried out, in order to analyze and reflect on Amparo's story, as a victim of the internal armed conflict presented by the truth commission, in its space stories that return chapter 3. Who tells his experience and the struggle he has had to face the scourges that the conflict has left him, such as exile, forced disappearance, silence and impunity, through the development of a series of questions in relation to the psychosocial emergents, positioning as a survivor, subjective experience, resilient and coping resources and questions of the type are raised: circular, reflective and strategic, for the approach and psychosocial approach of the story, from a narrative perspective. Also, a proposal for a psychosocial approach is made known, through the reflection of different items in relation to psychosocial emergents, bio-psycho-socio-cultural impacts, significant symbolic elements (violence, resilience and transformation), and it is proposed psychosocial strategies aimed at strengthening coping resources, in the case of the Salado massacre: stories of resilience after twenty years, population victims of murder, torture, terror, sexual violence against women and forced displacement by the armed group (AUC ). Finally, a reflective and analytical report is shown regarding different dynamics of violence addressed in the city of Bogotá in the towns of Ciudad Bolívar, Tunjuelito and Chapinero, and in the municipality of Soacha-Cundinamarca, from the photo-voice technique

    Within the Lucky Star international collaboration* on stellar occultations by TNOs and other outer solar system bodies, we predicted the occultation by the TNO (143707) 2003 UY117 of an mV ~ 14.6 mag star on 23 October 2020. Around a week before the occultation date, we updated and refined the prediction using high precision astrometry obtained using the 2 m Liverpool telescope located at El Roque de Los Muchachos Observatory on La Palma, Spain. The update resulted in a shadow path with good observability potential. We carried out a specific campaign involving 27 observing sites in the south of Spain and North of Africa to observe the occultation. We recorded 4 positive detections and several very close misses to the south of the body. With this information we determined the silhouette of 2003 UY117 at the moment of the occultation. We also obtained the geometric albedo and the size for this object. In addition to this, we carried out several photometric runs with large telescopes to determine the rotation period and rotational phase at the time of the occultation. The body presents a clear double-peaked rotational light curve consistent with a triaxial ellipsoid of considerable elongation, which means that a rotational light curve analysis is critical to correctly interpret the occultation results. The preliminary analysis indicates a larger equivalent diameter than that determined from Herschel thermal data, although consistent within the large error bars of the thermal determination.     The multi-chord stellar occultation by (19521) Chaos on 2020 November 20

    Physical properties of Trans-Neptunian Objects (TNOs) have been of increasing interest in the last two decades, as these objects are considered to be among the least altered through the Solar System evolution, and thus preserve valuable information about its origin [1]. The study of these objects through the ground-based method of stellar occultations has risen in the last years, as this technique allows the determination of physical properties with considerably good accuracies [2,3,4]. Here we present the results of the multi-chord stellar occultation of the GAIA source 3444789965847631104 (mv≍16.8) by the TNO (19521) Chaos on 2020 November 20, which was predicted within our systematic programme on stellar occultations by TNOs and outer solar system bodies [5]. The prediction was updated with astrometric observations carried out two days before the event with the 1.23-m telescope at Calar Alto observatory in Almería, Spain, and it was favorable to the South of Europe. The campaign that we organized involved 19 observing sites and resulted in three positive detections, one of them obtained from the 4.2-m WHT telescope at La Palma, 11 negative detections, and 5 sites that could not observe due to bad weather. We derived the instantaneous limb of Chaos by fitting the extremities of the positive chords to an ellipse to determine accurate size, shape, and geometric albedo for this object. The preliminary results give a slightly smaller area-equivalent diameter than the one derived from Herschel thermal data [6], but photometric observations of this object are still under analysis to complement and improve the results.     Hyperdominance in Amazonian Forest Carbon Cycling

    While Amazonian forests are extraordinarily diverse, the abundance of trees is skewed strongly towards relatively few ‘hyperdominant’ species. In addition to their diversity, Amazonian trees are a key component of the global carbon cycle, assimilating and storing more carbon than any other ecosystem on Earth. Here we ask, using a unique data set of 530 forest plots, if the functions of storing and producing woody carbon are concentrated in a small number of tree species, whether the most abundant species also dominate carbon cycling, and whether dominant species are characterized by specific functional traits. We find that dominance of forest function is even more concentrated in a few species than is dominance of tree abundance, with only ≈1% of Amazon tree species responsible for 50% of carbon storage and productivity. Although those species that contribute most to biomass and productivity are often abundant, species maximum size is also influential, while the identity and ranking of dominant species varies by function and by region

    Azimuthal anisotropy of charged jet production in root s(NN)=2.76 TeV Pb-Pb collisions

    We present measurements of the azimuthal dependence of charged jet production in central and semi-central root s(NN) = 2.76 TeV Pb-Pb collisions with respect to the second harmonic event plane, quantified as nu(ch)(2) (jet). Jet finding is performed employing the anti-k(T) algorithm with a resolution parameter R = 0.2 using charged tracks from the ALICE tracking system. The contribution of the azimuthal anisotropy of the underlying event is taken into account event-by-event. The remaining (statistical) region-to-region fluctuations are removed on an ensemble basis by unfolding the jet spectra for different event plane orientations independently. Significant non-zero nu(ch)(2) (jet) is observed in semi-central collisions (30-50% centrality) for 20 <p(T)(ch) (jet) <90 GeV/c. The azimuthal dependence of the charged jet production is similar to the dependence observed for jets comprising both charged and neutral fragments, and compatible with measurements of the nu(2) of single charged particles at high p(T). Good agreement between the data and predictions from JEWEL, an event generator simulating parton shower evolution in the presence of a dense QCD medium, is found in semi-central collisions.     Production of He-4 and (4) in Pb-Pb collisions at root(NN)-N-S=2.76 TeV at the LHC

    Results on the production of He-4 and (4) nuclei in Pb-Pb collisions at root(NN)-N-S = 2.76 TeV in the rapidity range vertical bar y vertical bar <1, using the ALICE detector, are presented in this paper. The rapidity densities corresponding to 0-10% central events are found to be dN/dy4(He) = (0.8 +/- 0.4 (stat) +/- 0.3 (syst)) x 10(-6) and dN/dy4 = (1.1 +/- 0.4 (stat) +/- 0.2 (syst)) x 10(-6), respectively. This is in agreement with the statistical thermal model expectation assuming the same chemical freeze-out temperature (T-chem = 156 MeV) as for light hadrons. The measured ratio of (4)/He-4 is 1.4 +/- 0.8 (stat) +/- 0.5 (syst). (C) 2018 Published by Elsevier B.V.Peer reviewe
