Job Satisfaction of Non-government College Teachers in Bangladesh

    Get PDF
The study was designed to assess job satisfaction of 88 randomly selected non government college teachers in Bangladesh. Survey form with a set of 23 questions was used for the study. Respondents were mainly selected by using random sampling method. The data was collected between February and July 2011. The findings show that teachers were not satisfied with their job without work place and training. The findings demonstrate that personnel's average satisfaction level reached 26.19%. Based on the findings it was recommended that some existing policies be changed and suggest that it is required to replace some old policies in case of promotion, equity of justice maintained in promotion and pay determination system

Control Strategies of DC–DC Converter in Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle

    Get PDF
There is a significant need to research and develop a compatible controller for the DC–DC converter used in fuel cells electric vehicles (EVs). Research has shown that fuel cells (FC) EVs have the potential of providing a far more promising performance in comparison to conventional combustion engine vehicles. This study aims to present a universal sliding mode control (SMC) technique to control the DC bus voltage under varying load conditions. Additionally, this research will utilize improved DC–DC converter topologies to boost the output voltage of the FCs. A DC–DC converter with a properly incorporated control scheme can be utilized to regulate the DC bus voltage–. A conventional linear controller, like a PID controller, is not suitable to be used as a controller to regulate the output voltage in the proposed application. This is due to the nonlinearity of the converter. Furthermore, this thesis will explore the use of a secondary power source which will be utilized during the start–up and transient condition of the FCEV. However, in this instance, a simple boost converter can be used as a reference to step–up the fuel cell output voltage. In terms of application, an FCEV requires stepping –up of the voltage through the use of a high power DC–DC converter or chopper. A control scheme must be developed to adjust the DC bus or load voltage to meet the vehicle requirements as well as to improve the overall efficiency of the FCEV. A simple SMC structure can be utilized to handle these issues and stabilize the output voltage of the DC–DC converter to maintain and establish a constant DC–link voltage during the load variations. To address the aforementioned issues, this thesis presents a sliding mode control technique to control the DC bus voltage under varying load conditions using improved DC–DC converter topologies to boost and stabilize the output voltage of the FCs

THE SPECIFIC APPEARANCE OF BRAND LOYALTY IN GENERATION Y CONSUMTPTION

In our research we analyse customer brand loyalty from a specific approach, from the side of consumer sociology. Several levels of customer loyalty can be defined based on the strength of the brand-consumer relationship, out of which we study the closest relationship, the adherence. According to our central hypothesis, the brands to which the consumer adheres have a symbolic significance for the consumer. By linking loyalty and symbolic consumption the contradictions regarding their analysis can be reduced. According to our assumption, the basis of connection is that the image of those brands which the consumer loyal to match his/her self. This self-image congruence creates a symbolic relationship between the brand and its consumer. On the basis if this the central question of our research is: Can brand loyalty be explained by the self-image congruence? We study this issue on the group of the young or Generation Y. We analysed the topic both from qualitative and from quantitative aspects. In the course of the qualitative research, we aimed to reveal the consumption habits of the young with 192 in-depth interviews, with special regard to the symbolic role of brands as well as the relationship of loyalty and self-image congruence. According to the main findings of our qualitative research, brands and their symbolic content is particularly important for the young, which serve for them as self-expression besides fitting into a group. They are aware of the brand images and they can easily link self and brand image. We intended to support and extend these findings with our quantitative research. Based on 979 questionnaires, we reinforced our hypotheses regarding loyalty and self-image congruence on a nationally representative sample in terms of age and sex. The results indicate that a relationship can be assumed between loyalty and self-image congruence, that is, our assumption about linking loyalty and symbolic consumption seems to be well-founded

Impact of Post-Anthesis Heat Stress on Physiological and Biochemical Traits of Wheat Genotypes

This study was conducted to identify physiological and biochemical attributes of wheat genotypes in response to heat stress. In this respect eight wheat genotypes viz., Pavon-76, Prodip, BARI Gom-25, BARI Gom-26, BAW-1143, BAW-1146, BAW-1147 and BAW-118 were used as study materials. The experiment was conducted during 2011-12 and 2012-13. In this experiment, physiological changes of wheat genotypes were evaluated in relation to heat tolerance in field condition by seeding them at November 27 (normal), December 17 (late) and January 7 (very late growing condition) over two successive years. HT genotypes showed higher canopy temperature depression (CTD) in each growing conditions than the MHT and HS genotypes. At late and very late growing heat stress conditions, HS genotypes exhibited larger increase in flag leaf proline at 8 days after anthesis (DAA) than the MHT and HT genotypes. At normal growing condition, the variation of total chlorophyll content in flag leaf among the HT, MHT and HS genotypes were lower compared to late and very late growing condition. The chlorophyll reduction at late growing heat stress condition was clearly distinguishable between the HT and HS genotypes

Creating and curating an archive: Bury St Edmunds and its Anglo-Saxon past

    Get PDF
This contribution explores the mechanisms by which the Benedictine foundation of Bury St Edmunds sought to legitimise and preserve their spurious pre-Conquest privileges and holdings throughout the Middle Ages. The archive is extraordinary in terms of the large number of surviving registers and cartularies which contain copies of Anglo-Saxon charters, many of which are wholly or partly in Old English. The essay charts the changing use to which these ancient documents were put in response to threats to the foundation's continued enjoyment of its liberties. The focus throughout the essay is to demonstrate how pragmatic considerations at every stage affects the development of the archive and the ways in which these linguistically challenging texts were presented, re-presented, and represented during the Abbey’s history
