    Los roles de género y su papel en las actitudes y comportamientos afectivo-sexuales: un estudio sobre adolescentes salmantinos

    En el presente estudio centramos nuestro interés en evaluar las actitudes, conocimientos y comportamientos de los adolescentes respecto a la sexualidad y sus prácticas, así como el impacto de variables como el género en estas valoraciones. Metodología. El estudio se ha llevado a cabo con una muestra de conveniencia de 141 estudiantes de Bachillerato o de módulos profesionales residentes en Salamanca, España. Dichos alumnos fueron evaluados mediante el Cuestionario para adolescentes sobre educación sexual. Resultados. Los datos indican que existe un amplio desconocimiento sobre temas básicos relacionados con el uso del preservativo o el embarazo. Se encuentran además claras relaciones entre el género y actitudes hacia la homosexualidad, la prostitución, la consideración de la sexualidad o la propia actividad sexual. Discusión. Es necesario llevar a cabo programas formativos que mejoren los conocimientos y fomenten actitudes y conductas positivas y saludables y respetuosas hacia la sexualidad propia y ajen

    CL-705G: a novel chemical Kir6.2-specific KATP channel opener

    Background: KATP channels have diverse roles, including regulation of insulin secretion and blood flow, and protection against biological stress responses and are excellent therapeutic targets. Different subclasses of KATP channels exist in various tissue types due to the unique assemblies of specific pore-forming (Kir6.x) and accessory (SURx) subunits. The majority of pharmacological openers and blockers act by binding to SURx and are poorly selective against the various KATP channel subclasses.Methods and Results: We used 3D models of the Kir6.2/SUR homotetramers based on existing cryo-EM structures of channels in both the open and closed states to identify a potential agonist binding pocket in a functionally critical area of the channel. Computational docking screens of this pocket with the Chembridge Core chemical library of 492,000 drug-like compounds yielded 15 top-ranked “hits”, which were tested for activity against KATP channels using patch clamping and thallium (Tl+) flux assays with a Kir6.2/SUR2A HEK-293 stable cell line. Several of the compounds increased Tl+ fluxes. One of them (CL-705G) opened Kir6.2/SUR2A channels with a similar potency as pinacidil (EC50 of 9 µM and 11 μM, respectively). Remarkably, compound CL-705G had no or minimal effects on other Kir channels, including Kir6.1/SUR2B, Kir2.1, or Kir3.1/Kir3.4 channels, or Na+ currents of TE671 medulloblastoma cells. CL-705G activated Kir6.2Δ36 in the presence of SUR2A, but not when expressed by itself. CL-705G activated Kir6.2/SUR2A channels even after PIP2 depletion. The compound has cardioprotective effects in a cellular model of pharmacological preconditioning. It also partially rescued activity of the gating-defective Kir6.2-R301C mutant that is associated with congenital hyperinsulinism.Conclusion: CL-705G is a new Kir6.2 opener with little cross-reactivity with other channels tested, including the structurally similar Kir6.1.     Guía de práctica clínica para la prevención, diagnóstico y manejo de infecciones asociadas al acceso de hemodiálisis en el Seguro Social de Salud del Perú (EsSalud)

    Background: This article summarizes the clinical practice guidelines (CPG) for the prevention, diagnosis and management of infections associated with hemodialysis access of the Peruvian Health Social Security (EsSalud). Objective: To provide clinical recommendations based on evidence for the prevention, diagnosis and management of infections associated with hemodialysis access in EsSalud. Material and Methods: A guideline development group (GDG) was established, including medical specialists and methodologists. The GDG formulated 7 clinical questions to be answered in this CPG. Systematic searches of systematic reviews and primary studies (when pertinent) were conducted in PubMed, and CENTRAL (Cochrane) from November 2019 to March 2020. The evidence was selected to answer each of the clinical questions. The accuracy of the evidence was evaluated using the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) methodology. In periodic work meetings, the GEG used the GRADE methodology to review the evidence and formulate the recommendations, the points of good clinical practice and the treatment flowchart. Finally, the CPG was approved with Resolution No. 116-IETSI-ESSALUD-2020. Results: The present CPG addressed 7 clinical questions of four topics: prevention, diagnosis and treatment. Based on these questions, 12 recommendations (11 strong recommendations and 1 weak recommendation), 33 points of good clinical practice, and 2 flowcharts were formulated. Conclusion: This paper summarizes the methodology and evidence-based conclusions from the CPG for the prevention, diagnosis and management of infections associated with hemodialysis access of EsSalud.Introducción: El presente artículo resume la guía de práctica clínica (GPC) para la prevención, diagnóstico y manejo de infecciones asociadas al acceso de hemodiálisis en el Seguro Social del Perú (EsSalud). Objetivo: Proveer recomendaciones clínicas basadas en evidencia para la prevención, diagnóstico y tratamiento de infecciones asociadas al acceso de hemodiálisis en EsSalud. Material y Métodos: Se conformó un grupo elaborador de la guía (GEG) que incluyó especialistas y metodólogos. El GEG formuló 7 preguntas clínicas. Se realizó búsquedas sistemáticas de revisiones sistemáticas y estudios primarios en PubMed y CENTRAL de Cochrane entre noviembre del 2019 y marzo del 2020. Se seleccionó la evidencia para responder a las preguntas clínicas planteadas. El GEG usó la metodología GRADE para revisar la evidencia y formular recomendaciones, los puntos de buena práctica clínica y el flujograma de tratamiento. Finalmente, la GPC fue aprobada con Resolución N° 116-IETSI-ESSALUD-2020. Resultados: La presente GPC abordó 7 preguntas clínicas, divididas en tres temas: tamizaje, diagnóstico, estadiaje y tratamiento.     Measurement of the top quark forward-backward production asymmetry and the anomalous chromoelectric and chromomagnetic moments in pp collisions at √s = 13 TeV

    Abstract The parton-level top quark (t) forward-backward asymmetry and the anomalous chromoelectric (d̂ t) and chromomagnetic (μ̂ t) moments have been measured using LHC pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, collected in the CMS detector in a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb−1. The linearized variable AFB(1) is used to approximate the asymmetry. Candidate t t ¯ events decaying to a muon or electron and jets in final states with low and high Lorentz boosts are selected and reconstructed using a fit of the kinematic distributions of the decay products to those expected for t t ¯ final states. The values found for the parameters are AFB(1)=0.048−0.087+0.095(stat)−0.029+0.020(syst),μ̂t=−0.024−0.009+0.013(stat)−0.011+0.016(syst), and a limit is placed on the magnitude of | d̂ t| < 0.03 at 95% confidence level.     An embedding technique to determine ττ backgrounds in proton-proton collision data

    An embedding technique is presented to estimate standard model tau tau backgrounds from data with minimal simulation input. In the data, the muons are removed from reconstructed mu mu events and replaced with simulated tau leptons with the same kinematic properties. In this way, a set of hybrid events is obtained that does not rely on simulation except for the decay of the tau leptons. The challenges in describing the underlying event or the production of associated jets in the simulation are avoided. The technique described in this paper was developed for CMS. Its validation and the inherent uncertainties are also discussed. The demonstration of the performance of the technique is based on a sample of proton-proton collisions collected by CMS in 2017 at root s = 13 TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 41.5 fb(-1).Peer reviewe

    Search for Physics beyond the Standard Model in Events with Overlapping Photons and Jets

    Results are reported from a search for new particles that decay into a photon and two gluons, in events with jets. Novel jet substructure techniques are developed that allow photons to be identified in an environment densely populated with hadrons. The analyzed proton-proton collision data were collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC, in 2016 at root s = 13 TeV, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb(-1). The spectra of total transverse hadronic energy of candidate events are examined for deviations from the standard model predictions. No statistically significant excess is observed over the expected background. The first cross section limits on new physics processes resulting in such events are set. The results are interpreted as upper limits on the rate of gluino pair production, utilizing a simplified stealth supersymmetry model. The excluded gluino masses extend up to 1.7 TeV, for a neutralino mass of 200 GeV and exceed previous mass constraints set by analyses targeting events with isolated photons.Peer reviewe

    Measurement of nuclear modification factors of gamma(1S)), gamma(2S), and gamma(3S) mesons in PbPb collisions at root s(NN)=5.02 TeV

    The cross sections for ϒ(1S), ϒ(2S), and ϒ(3S) production in lead-lead (PbPb) and proton-proton (pp) collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV have been measured using the CMS detector at the LHC. The nuclear modification factors, RAA, derived from the PbPb-to-pp ratio of yields for each state, are studied as functions of meson rapidity and transverse momentum, as well as PbPb collision centrality. The yields of all three states are found to be significantly suppressed, and compatible with a sequential ordering of the suppression, RAA(ϒ(1S)) > RAA(ϒ(2S)) > RAA(ϒ(3S)). The suppression of ϒ(1S) is larger than that seen at √sNN = 2.76 TeV, although the two are compatible within uncertainties. The upper limit on the RAA of ϒ(3S) integrated over pT, rapidity and centrality is 0.096 at 95% confidence level, which is the strongest suppression observed for a quarkonium state in heavy ion collisions to date. © 2019 The Author(s).     Calibration of the CMS hadron calorimeters using proton-proton collision data at root s=13 TeV

    Methods are presented for calibrating the hadron calorimeter system of theCMSetector at the LHC. The hadron calorimeters of the CMS experiment are sampling calorimeters of brass and scintillator, and are in the form of one central detector and two endcaps. These calorimeters cover pseudorapidities vertical bar eta vertical bar ee data. The energy scale of the outer calorimeters has been determined with test beam data and is confirmed through data with high transverse momentum jets.
