    The Effect of Night Shifts on Nurses' Health and Well-Being in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh

    Objective: The objective of this study was to analyze the effect of night shift work on nurses’ health and well-being. Methods: 100 nurses in all were chosen at random from various hospital located in Itanagar. Data was collected from night shift working nurses by self-administered questionnaire through personal interview method. Data was used to gather information on socio- demographic, anthropometric measurements, professional, physical activity, food habits and intakes were collected. To study the detrimental impact of night shift employment on the health and wellbeing descriptive frequency and correlation were used. Results: One hundred nurses in all, the majority of them had one or more health issues, digestive problems includes- disturbed appetite (60%), heartburn or stomach-ache (71%), feeling nausea/ dizziness (75%), difficulty in digestion (72%) and suffer from constipation (52%). Cardiovascular problems of the respondents it was found that out of 100 respondents (16%) workers reported that they are on their high blood pressure or cardiac problems and chronic chest disorder (6%) followed by (45%) workers were low blood pressure. About 23% of nurses regularly skip meals, followed by 52% of nurses who did so once or twice, and the majority of nurses did not eat at set times. The results showed that 72% of nurses often ate fast food; only 8% of nurses took home-cooked meals with them for dinner. During night shifts, chips, cookies, sweets, and were the most popular munchies. Conclusion: This study demonstrated that nurses working nights have bad eating habits that cause their diets to be unbalanced. They eat less nutrient-dense foods but a greater number of meals that are rich in calories. They also rarely engage in any sort of exercise outdoors from what they do for a living and frequently prefer to eat snacks rather than full meals. The hospital's nurses need to get nutritional hygiene counseling, and night shift food service needs to be enhanced

    Web3Recommend: Decentralised recommendations with trust and relevance

    Web3Recommend is a decentralized Social Recommender System implementation that enables Web3 Platforms on Android to generate recommendations that balance trust and relevance. Generating recommendations in decentralized networks is a non-trivial problem because these networks lack a global perspective due to the absence of a central authority. Further, decentralized networks are prone to Sybil Attacks in which a single malicious user can generate multiple fake or Sybil identities. Web3Recommend relies on a novel graph-based content recommendation design inspired by GraphJet, a recommendation system used in Twitter enhanced with MeritRank, a decentralized reputation scheme that provides Sybil-resistance to the system. By adding MeritRank's decay parameters to the vanilla Social Recommender Systems' personalized SALSA graph algorithm, we can provide theoretical guarantees against Sybil Attacks in the generated recommendations. Similar to GraphJet, we focus on generating real-time recommendations by only acting on recent interactions in the social network, allowing us to cater temporally contextual recommendations while keeping a tight bound on the memory usage in resource-constrained devices, allowing for a seamless user experience. As a proof-of-concept, we integrate our system with MusicDAO, an open-source Web3 music-sharing platform, to generate personalized, real-time recommendations. Thus, we provide the first Sybil-resistant Social Recommender System, allowing real-time recommendations beyond classic user-based collaborative filtering. The system is also rigorously tested with extensive unit and integration tests. Further, our experiments demonstrate the trust-relevance balance of recommendations against multiple adversarial strategies in a test network generated using data from real music platforms

In this paper, we will take an industrial scenario of aviation’s industries’ supply chain management, and demonstrate the necessitation of having decentralized system like Blockchain, not only assisting to maintain inventory of the aircraft’s individual segments but also to monitor the performance, usage, etc. This will help to achieve a transparent network of aircraft’s part’s supply and will reduce the risk of availability of aircraft segments in black market and will help the analysts to analyze the supply, demands, source of availability of aviation parts and method to procure them from the right sources

    Sol–gel thermal barrier coatings: Optimization of the manufacturing route and durability under cyclic oxidation

    A new promising and versatile process based on the sol–gel transformation has been developed to deposit yttria-stabilised thermal barrier coatings. The non-oriented microstructure with randomly structured pore network, resulting from the soft chemical process, is expected to show satisfactory thermo-mechanical behaviour when the TBC is cyclically oxidized. First stage of the research consists of optimizing the processing route to generate homogeneous microstructure and controlled surface roughness. The objective is to reduce, as much as possible, the size and depth of the surface cracks network inherent to the process. Indeed, the durability of the TBC when cyclically oxidized strongly depends on the sharpness of those cracks that concentrate thermo-mechanical stresses and generate detrimental propagation resulting in spallation. Cyclic oxidation tests are performed using a cyclic oxidation rig instrumented with CCD cameras to monitor in a real time basis the mechanism of crack propagation and spallation. The impact of various parameters either directly related to the processing route, e.g. the intimate microstructure of the TBC and the TBC thickness, or to the thermal loading, e.g. the oxidation temperature and the cumulated hot time, on the durability of the TBC is investigate

    Development of sunlight-driven eutectic phase change material nanocomposite for applications in solar water heating

    Organic phase change materials (PCMs) have been utilized as latent heat energy storage medium for effective thermal management. In this work, a PCM nanocomposite, consisting of a mixture of two organic PCMs (referred to as eutectic gel PCM) and minimal amount (0.5 wt%) of nanographite (NG) as a supporting material, was prepared. Differential scanning calorimeter was used to determine the melting temperature and latent heat of pristine PCM, paraffin (61.5 °C and 161.5 J/g), eutectic gel PCM (54 °C and 158 J/g) and eutectic gel PCM nanocomposite (53.5 °C and 155 J/g). The prepared PCM nanocomposites exhibited enhanced thermal conductivity and ultrafast thermal charging characteristics. The nanocomposites were employed for two different applications: (i) providing hot water using an indigenously fabricated solar water heating (SWH) system and (ii) solar rechargeable glove that can be rapidly warmed and used. Experimental results on SWH system show that the use of PCM nanocomposites helps to increase the charging rate of PCM while reducing the discharging rate of heat by PCM to water, thus enhancing the maximum utilization of solar energy and hence improving the efficiency of the SWH system. The experimental results on solar rechargeable glove revealed that the glove has the ability to retain the temperature up to 3 hours

    Thermal behaviour of multilayer and functionally-graded YSZ/Gd2Zr2O7 coatings

    [EN] Zirconates with pyrochlore structure, such as Gd2Zr2O7, are new promising thermal barrier coatings because of their very low thermal conductivity and good chemical resistance against molten salts. However, their coefficient of thermal expansion is low, therefore their thermal fatigue resistance is compromised. As a solution, the combination of yttria-stabilised zirconia (YSZ) and Gd2Zr2O7 can reduce the thermal contraction mismatch between the thermal barrier coating parts. In the present study, two possible designs have been performed to combine YSZ/Gd2Zr2O7. On the one hand, a multilayer coating was obtained where YSZ layer was deposited between a Gd2Zr2O7 layer and a bond coat. On the other hand, a functionally-graded coating was designed where different layers with variable ratios of YSZ/Gd2Zr2O7 were deposited such that the composition gradually changed along the coating thickness. Multilayer and functionally-graded coatings underwent isothermal and thermally-cycled treatments in order to evaluate the oxidation, sintering effects and thermal fatigue resistance of the coatings. The YSZ/Gd2Zr2O7 multilayer coating displayed better thermal behaviour than the Gd2Zr2O7 monolayer coating but quite less thermal fatigue resistance compared to the conventional YSZ coating. However, the functionally-graded coating displays a good thermal fatigue resistance.
