QCD Chiral restoration at finite under the Magnetic field: Studies based on the instanton vacuum model
We investigate the chiral restoration at finite temperature under the
strong external magnetic field of the SU(2) light-flavor
QCD matter. We employ the instanton-liquid QCD vacuum configuration accompanied
with the linear Schwinger method for inducing the magnetic field. The
Harrington-Shepard caloron solution is used to modify the instanton parameters,
i.e. the average instanton size and inter-instanton distance
, as functions of . In addition, we include the meson-loop
corrections (MLC) as the large- corrections because they are critical
for reproducing the universal chiral restoration pattern. We present the
numerical results for the constituent-quark mass as well as chiral condensate
which signal the spontaneous breakdown of chiral-symmetry (SBS), as
functions of and . Besides we find that the changes for the and
due to the magnetic field is relatively small, in comparison to those

Hyperbolic calorons, monopoles, and instantons
We construct families of SO(3)-symmetric charge 1 instantons and calorons on
the space H^3 x R. We show how the calorons include instantons and hyperbolic
monopoles as limiting cases. We show how Euclidean calorons are the flat space

SU(2) Calorons and Magnetic Monopoles
We investigate the self-dual Yang-Mills gauge configurations on when the gauge symmetry SU(2) is broken to U(1) by the Wilson loop. We
construct the explicit field configuration for a single instanton by the Nahm
method and show that an instanton is composed of two self-dual monopoles of
opposite magnetic charge. We normalize the moduli space metric of an instanton
and study various limits of the field configuration and its moduli space

ADHM/Nahm Construction of Localized Solitons in Noncommutative Gauge Theories
We study the relationship between ADHM/Nahm construction and ``solution
generating technique'' of BPS solitons in noncommutative gauge theories.
ADHM/Nahm construction and ``solution generating technique'' are the most
strong ways to construct exact BPS solitons. Localized solitons are the
solitons which are generated by the ``solution generating technique.'' The
shift operators which play crucial roles in ``solution generating technique''
naturally appear in ADHM/Nahm construction and we can construct various exact
localized solitons including new solitons: localized periodic instantons
(=localized calorons) and localized doubly-periodic instantons. Nahm
construction also gives rise to BPS fluxons straightforwardly from the
appropriate input Nahm data which is expected from the D-brane picture of BPS
fluxons. We also show that the Fourier-transformed soliton of the localized

Identifying New Sources of Resistance to Brown Stem Rot in Soybean
Brown stem rot (BSR), caused by the fungus Phialophora gregata f. sp. sojae (Allington & D.W. Chamberlain) W. Gams (syn. Cadophora gregata), causes yield losses up to 38%. Three dominant BSR-resistant genes have been identified: Rbs1, Rbs2, and Rbs3. Additional BSR resistance loci will complement breeding efforts by expanding the soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] genetic base. The objective of this research was to determine if PI 594637, PI 594638B, PI 594650A, and PI 594858B contained novel BSR resistance genes. The accessions were crossed to three genotypes with known BSR resistance genes and populations were developed for allelism studies. A minimum of 60 F2:3 families tracing to individual F2 plants in each population were used, and six seeds from each F2:3 family were tested. Resistant and susceptible controls and parents were also included. The BSR symptoms were assessed under growth chamber conditions 5 wk after inoculation by measuring foliar and stem severities and recovery of P. gregata from stem sections. Allelism tests of F2:3 plants from crosses of PI 594638B, PI 594858B, and PI 594650A with the resistant sources fit a 15:1 ratio, indicating that the resistant gene possessed by each of the PIs was nonallelic to Rbs1, Rbs2, and Rbs3. The three PIs contain at least one novel BSR resistance gene and have the potential to serve as donors to elite germplasm, increasing stability of host resistance to P. gregata. Allelism tests of PI 594637 segregated in a 3:1 ratio and no significant difference was found between PI 594637 and the susceptible controls, indicating that PI 594637 is susceptible to BSR
Covariant derivative expansion of fermionic effective action at high temperatures
We derive the fermionic contribution to the 1-loop effective action for A_4
and A_i fields at high temperatures, assuming that gluon fields are slowly

Covariant derivative expansion of Yang-Mills effective action at high temperatures
Integrating out fast varying quantum fluctuations about Yang--Mills fields
A_i and A_4, we arrive at the effective action for those fields at high
temperatures. Assuming that the fields A_i and A_4 are slowly varying but that
the amplitude of A_4 is arbitrary, we find a non-trivial effective gauge
invariant action both in the electric and magnetic sectors. Our results can be
used for studying correlation functions at high temperatures beyond the
dimensional reduction approximation, as well as for estimating quantum weights

Search for direct production of charginos and neutralinos in events with three leptons and missing transverse momentum in âs = 7 TeV pp collisions with the ATLAS detector
A search for the direct production of charginos and neutralinos in final states with three electrons or muons and missing transverse momentum is presented. The analysis is based on 4.7 fbâ1 of protonâproton collision data delivered by the Large Hadron Collider and recorded with the ATLAS detector. Observations are consistent with Standard Model expectations in three signal regions that are either depleted or enriched in Z-boson decays. Upper limits at 95% confidence level are set in R-parity conserving phenomenological minimal supersymmetric models and in simplified models, significantly extending previous results
Jet size dependence of single jet suppression in lead-lead collisions at sqrt(s(NN)) = 2.76 TeV with the ATLAS detector at the LHC
Measurements of inclusive jet suppression in heavy ion collisions at the LHC
provide direct sensitivity to the physics of jet quenching. In a sample of
lead-lead collisions at sqrt(s) = 2.76 TeV corresponding to an integrated
luminosity of approximately 7 inverse microbarns, ATLAS has measured jets with
a calorimeter over the pseudorapidity interval |eta| < 2.1 and over the
transverse momentum range 38 < pT < 210 GeV. Jets were reconstructed using the
anti-kt algorithm with values for the distance parameter that determines the
nominal jet radius of R = 0.2, 0.3, 0.4 and 0.5. The centrality dependence of
the jet yield is characterized by the jet "central-to-peripheral ratio," Rcp.
Jet production is found to be suppressed by approximately a factor of two in
the 10% most central collisions relative to peripheral collisions. Rcp varies
smoothly with centrality as characterized by the number of participating
nucleons. The observed suppression is only weakly dependent on jet radius and
transverse momentum. These results provide the first direct measurement of
inclusive jet suppression in heavy ion collisions and complement previous
measurements of dijet transverse energy imbalance at the LHC.Comment: 15 pages plus author list (30 pages total), 8 figures, 2 tables,
