Final Report to Governors from the Joint Study Committee and Scientific Professionals

The intent of this publication of the Arkansas Water Resources Center is to provide a location whereby a final report on water research to a funding entity can be archived. The States of Arkansas and Oklahoma signed the Second Statement of Joint Principles and Actions in 2013 to form a governors’ appointed ‘Joint Study Committee’ to oversee the ‘Joint Study’ and make recommendations on the phosphorus criteria in Oklahoma’s Scenic Rivers. This publication has maintained the original format of the report as submitted to the Governors of Arkansas and Oklahoma

Potentially Serious Drug Interactions Resulting From the Pretravel Health Encounter.

Travelers seen for pretravel health encounters are frequently prescribed new travel-related medications, which may interact with their previously prescribed medications. In a cohort of 76 324 travelers seen at 23 US clinics, we found that 2650 (3.5%) travelers were prescribed travel-related medications with potential for serious drug interactions

Predicting international Facebook ties through cultural homophily and other factors

This study describes the structure of the international Facebook friendship network and its determinants using various predictors, including physical proximity, cultural homophily, and communication. Network analysis resulted in one group of nations, with countries that bridge geographic and linguistic clusters (France, Spain, United Kingdom, and United Arab Emirates) being the most central. Countries with international Facebook friendship ties tended to share borders, language, civilization, and migration. Physical distance, shared hyperlinks, use of common websites, telephone traffic, cultural similarity, and international student exchange were either weakly or not significantly related to international Facebook friendships
