NASA automatic subject analysis technique for extracting retrievable multi-terms (NASA TERM) system

    Get PDF
Current methods for information processing and retrieval used at the NASA Scientific and Technical Information Facility are reviewed. A more cost effective computer aided indexing system is proposed which automatically generates print terms (phrases) from the natural text. Satisfactory print terms can be generated in a primarily automatic manner to produce a thesaurus (NASA TERMS) which extends all the mappings presently applied by indexers, specifies the worth of each posting term in the thesaurus, and indicates the areas of use of the thesaurus entry phrase. These print terms enable the computer to determine which of several terms in a hierarchy is desirable and to differentiate ambiguous terms. Steps in the NASA TERMS algorithm are discussed and the processing of surrogate entry phrases is demonstrated using four previously manually indexed STAR abstracts for comparison. The simulation shows phrase isolation, text phrase reduction, NASA terms selection, and RECON display

A preliminary determination of normal accelerations on racing airplanes

Rules and methods for insuring safe structural strength of racing airplanes used in the major air meets in this country have recently been considered. Acceleration records made in racing airplanes during actual air races were therefore considered desirable, and the NACA undertook the measurement of acceleration of loads on airplanes during all conditions of flight. Accelerations were measured on four airplanes at the Miami All-American Races in January 1934 and January 1935. The airplanes were representative of the fastest limited and unlimited displacement racing airplanes in current use in this country. Records during two races, or flights, on the race course were obtained with each airplane. The maximum normal acceleration recorded was 6.2g and the minimum was -1.2g

Zahrnuje informace o objektu, popis poruch, diagnostiku a vyhodnocení měření. Poslední část se zabývá statickým výpočtem vybraných částí nosné konstrukce. This diploma thesis deals with the evaluation of the constructions of the industrial buildings according to the ČSN ISO 13822 Standard. In the first, theoretical part, the procedures of research and evaluation of existing reinforced concrete constructions based on the ČSN ISO 13822 and ČSN 73 0038 Standards are described. Further, the theoretical part is focused on the diagnostic methods used during the evaluation of these constructions. The practical part focuses on the evaluation of the three industrial reinforced concrete buildings. It includes information about the building, the description of defects, diagnostics and the appraisal of measuring. The last part deals with a static calculation of selected parts of the supporting construction.
