For this project, under direction of Judy Beard and Matthew Martinson, I have created a manual to further assist individuals in the process of fulfilling dreams to become a firefighter. I have researched the vast number steps it takes to become a firefighter and provided helpful suggestions that will aid individuals throughout the process. Becoming a firefighter is a demanding process with physical abilities that need to be taken into consideration when going through the elaborate process. This project includes background information on structure firefighting, volunteer firefighting, wildland firefighting, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, and what the role of each of these have in becoming a career firefighter. My project includes sample questions, prices of entry tests, where these tests occur and how often. Included is also a list of departments and what exam they require to be taken, since assessments vary between departments. Characteristics that are needed/wanted for this career are also explained in this project with an emphasis on how and why each trait is used in the daily life of a firefighter. My goal is to give guidance to those who may be struggling with getting hired and provide strategies that will guide individuals to be more successful candidates

The aim of this thesis is to explore the way in which free labour of and user – generated content are part of the current structure and business model of the e-Sports industry. Specifically the competitive industry of League of Legends helps us to understand the nature and growth of e-Sports as well as the way in which business that are founded by models of the free to play variety have continuously subjected gamers to exploitation. Through the fantasy of professionalisation, the gamer is propelled into a market in which such exploitation is necessary to the potential of becoming a celebrity within the wider gaming community. To make it so that gamers are more willing to participate in such a culture of free labour, professional and competitive league play is had, as well as actual money. Using an archival method, this thesis will seek to explore the way in which the labour that is given by the gaming community is further exploited by Riot. Through the analysis of build sites, live streaming and the process of the Tribunal, the contributions of the community toward the production and maintenance of the cultural significance of League is significant and worthy of investigation. With my own experience within the gaming field of League of Legends guided general knowledge on how the game was structured and played as well as how the meta worked, my knowledge allows me to further investigate the ways in which the community interacts with Riot and amongst themselves. The outcome of such research helps establish and understanding of how such an understanding of the professionalisation of videogames can increase ou

This Doctor of Nursing Practice Project assessed whether attending community group meetings focusing on stress, staying active, and healthy eating during the holidays, could influence cardiovascular disease awareness, mental health awareness, and quality of life of senior citizens in Cleveland County. A convenience sample of 6 participants attended the Coping with Stress and Staying Active event while 10 participants attended the Healthy Cooking Strategies event. The objectives were measured using a pretest posttest design before and after the presentations. There was strong evidence (t(9) = -13.597, p \u3c .05) that the group seminar on managing stress and staying active during the holiday season improved the mental health awareness of participants. Data also showed a significant increase in Cardiovascular Disease Awareness from pretest to posttest (t(5) = 3.246, p \u3c .05) after the seminar on healthy cooking strategies. The project raised community awareness to the importance of managing stress, staying active, and making small nutritional changes to positively impact the cardiovascular health of Seniors
