Resolving the order parameter of High-Tc_{c} Superconductors through quantum pumping spectroscopy

The order parameter of High-Tc_{c} superconductors through a series of experiments has been quite conclusively demonstrated to not be of the normal swaves-wave type. It is either a pure dx2y2d_{x^{2}-y^{2}}-wave type or a mixture of a dx2y2waved_{x^{2}-y^{2}}-wave with a small imaginary swaves-wave or dxywaved_{xy}-wave component. In this work a distinction is brought out among the four types, i.e., swaves- wave, dx2y2waved_{x^{2}-y^{2}}- wave, dx2y2+iswaved_{x^{2}-y^{2}}+is - wave and dx2y2+idxywaved_{x^{2}-y^{2}}+id_{xy}- wave types with the help of quantum pumping spectroscopy. This involves a normal metal double barrier structure in contact with a High-Tc_{c} superconductor. The pumped current, heat and noise show different characteristics with change in order parameter revealing quite easily the differences among these.Comment: 11 pages, 3 figures, 1 table, Manuscript revised with new material on d+id' cas

    Arrow Debreu Prices

    Get PDF
Arrow Debreu prices are the prices of 'atomic' time and state contingent claims which deliver one unit of a specific consumption good if a specific uncertain state realizes at a specific future date. For instance, claims on the good 'ice cream tomorrow' are split into different commodities depending whether the weather will be good or bad, so that good-weather and bad-weather ice cream tomorrow can be traded separately. Such claims were introduced by K.J. Arrow and G. Debreu in their work on general equilibrium theory under uncertainty, to allow agents to exchange state and time contingent claims on goods. Thereby the general equilibrium problem with uncertainly can be reduced to a conventional one without uncertainty. In finite state financial models, Arrow-Debreu securities delivering one unit of the numeraire good can be viewed as natural atomic building blocks for all other state-time contingent financial claims; their prices determine a unique arbitrage-free price system

Docking of LDCVs Is Modulated by Lower Intracellular [Ca2+] than Priming

Many regulatory steps precede final membrane fusion in neuroendocrine cells. Some parts of this preparatory cascade, including fusion and priming, are dependent on the intracellular Ca2+ concentration ([Ca2+]i). However, the functional implications of [Ca2+]i in the regulation of docking remain elusive and controversial due to an inability to determine the modulatory effect of [Ca2+]i. Using a combination of TIRF-microscopy and electrophysiology we followed the movement of large dense core vesicles (LDCVs) close to the plasma membrane, simultaneously measuring membrane capacitance and [Ca2+]i. We found that a free [Ca2+]i of 700 nM maximized the immediately releasable pool and minimized the lateral mobility of vesicles, which is consistent with a maximal increase of the pool size of primed LDCVs. The parameters that reflect docking, i.e. axial mobility and the fraction of LDCVs residing at the plasma membrane for less than 5 seconds, were strongly decreased at a free [Ca2+]i of 500 nM. These results provide the first evidence that docking and priming occur at different free intracellular Ca2+ concentrations, with docking efficiency being the most robust at 500 nM

PET imaging. The lesions were found incidentally. The 18F-FDG PET of Vienna, Vienna, Austria imaging was performed with a dedicated PET tomograph after intravenous injection of 300-370 MBq 18F-FDG. The 18F-FDG accumulation in the lesions was (semi)quantified by calculating the standardized uptake value (SUV) and SUV has been corrected for the lean body mass (LBM). Eight patients with liver metastases spread from melanoma (nΩ2) and colorectal carcinoma (nΩ6) served as controls. The size of the FNH lesions and of the control group ranged from 2.0 to 8.5 cm (mean 4.83 cm∫2.37) and from 1.5 to 6 cm (mean 3.28∫1.52), respectively. Results: While in malignant liver lesions the accumulation of 18F-FDG was significantly increased, all FNH lesions showed normal or even decreased accumulation of 18F-FDG. In FNH lesions, SUV ranged between 1.5 and 2.6 (mean 2.12∫0.38), whereas all liver metastases showed an increased SUV rang- PET is a new imaging method that has been successfully applied to image malignant tumors. While a large number of studies has been published in the last years about the usefulness of 18F-FDG PET in a variety of malignant diseases, the glucose metabolism of FNH in vivo has not bee

It was found that the complex treatment of ultrasonic followed by the addition of 0.3% by weight. petroleum resins, a more efficient method of inhibiting sedimentation processes than just ultrasonic or addition of 0,3% by weight. petroleum resins. According to the obtained data, fragments of aliphatic petroleum resins are adsorbed on the high molecular hydrocarbons of normal structure and prevent their aggregation thus the inhibition of sedimentation occurs

Measurement of the cross-section and charge asymmetry of WW bosons produced in proton-proton collisions at s=8\sqrt{s}=8 TeV with the ATLAS detector

This paper presents measurements of the W+μ+νW^+ \rightarrow \mu^+\nu and WμνW^- \rightarrow \mu^-\nu cross-sections and the associated charge asymmetry as a function of the absolute pseudorapidity of the decay muon. The data were collected in proton--proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV with the ATLAS experiment at the LHC and correspond to a total integrated luminosity of 20.2~\mbox{fb^{-1}}. The precision of the cross-section measurements varies between 0.8% to 1.5% as a function of the pseudorapidity, excluding the 1.9% uncertainty on the integrated luminosity. The charge asymmetry is measured with an uncertainty between 0.002 and 0.003. The results are compared with predictions based on next-to-next-to-leading-order calculations with various parton distribution functions and have the sensitivity to discriminate between them.Comment: 38 pages in total, author list starting page 22, 5 figures, 4 tables, submitted to EPJC. Search for chargino-neutralino production with mass splittings near the electroweak scale in three-lepton final states in √s=13 TeV pp collisions with the ATLAS detector

    Get PDF
A search for supersymmetry through the pair production of electroweakinos with mass splittings near the electroweak scale and decaying via on-shell W and Z bosons is presented for a three-lepton final state. The analyzed proton-proton collision data taken at a center-of-mass energy of √s=13  TeV were collected between 2015 and 2018 by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139  fb−1. A search, emulating the recursive jigsaw reconstruction technique with easily reproducible laboratory-frame variables, is performed. The two excesses observed in the 2015–2016 data recursive jigsaw analysis in the low-mass three-lepton phase space are reproduced. Results with the full data set are in agreement with the Standard Model expectations. They are interpreted to set exclusion limits at the 95% confidence level on simplified models of chargino-neutralino pair production for masses up to 345 GeV

Search for direct stau production in events with two hadronic tau-leptons in root s=13 TeV pp collisions with the ATLAS detector

    Get PDF
A search for the direct production of the supersymmetric partners ofτ-leptons (staus) in final stateswith two hadronically decayingτ-leptons is presented. The analysis uses a dataset of pp collisions corresponding to an integrated luminosity of139fb−1, recorded with the ATLAS detector at the LargeHadron Collider at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. No significant deviation from the expected StandardModel background is observed. Limits are derived in scenarios of direct production of stau pairs with eachstau decaying into the stable lightest neutralino and oneτ-lepton in simplified models where the two staumass eigenstates are degenerate. Stau masses from 120 GeV to 390 GeV are excluded at 95% confidencelevel for a massless lightest neutralino
