    The Tev 2000 report: Electroweak physics with high luminosity at the Fermilab Tevatron

    The addition of the Main Injector and the Antiproton Recycler to the Fermilab accelerator complex create the prospect of integrating samples in excess of 20 fb−120fb−1 at the Tevatron collider. The Tev2000 report is a study of the “High-PTPT” physics that may be realized with such data sets. We find a rich catalog of measurements, including characterization of the top quark, sensitivity to a light Higgs boson and low energy SUSY, and a precision electroweak program with sensitivity comparable and complementary to that of LEP-I. © 1997 American Institute of Physics.Peer Reviewedhttp://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/87490/2/95_1.pd

    DAMIC at SNOLAB

    We introduce the fully-depleted charge-coupled device (CCD) as a particle detector. We demonstrate its low energy threshold operation, capable of detecting ionizing energy depositions in a single pixel down to 50 eVee. We present results of energy calibrations from 0.3 keVee to 60 keVee, showing that the CCD is a fully active detector with uniform energy response throughout the silicon target, good resolution (Fano ~0.16), and remarkable linear response to electron energy depositions. We show the capability of the CCD to localize the depth of particle interactions within the silicon target. We discuss the mode of operation and unique imaging capabilities of the CCD, and how they may be exploited to characterize and suppress backgrounds. We present the first results from the deployment of 250 um thick CCDs in SNOLAB, a prototype for the upcoming DAMIC100.     A reanalysis of B0-B0 mixing in e+e- annihilation at 29 GeV

    Data taken by the Mark II detector at the PEP storage ring was used to measure the rate of dilepton production in multihadronic events produced by e+e- annihilation at [radical sign]s=29 GeV. We determine the probability that a hadron initially containing a b (b) quark decays to a positive (negative) lepton to be 0.17-0.08+0.15, with 90% confidence level limits of 0.06 and 0.38.Peer Reviewedhttp://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/28616/3/0000428.pd

    Search for dark matter produced in association with bottom or top quarks in √s = 13 TeV pp collisions with the ATLAS detector

    A search for weakly interacting massive particle dark matter produced in association with bottom or top quarks is presented. Final states containing third-generation quarks and miss- ing transverse momentum are considered. The analysis uses 36.1 fb−1 of proton–proton collision data recorded by the ATLAS experiment at √s = 13 TeV in 2015 and 2016. No significant excess of events above the estimated backgrounds is observed. The results are in- terpreted in the framework of simplified models of spin-0 dark-matter mediators. For colour- neutral spin-0 mediators produced in association with top quarks and decaying into a pair of dark-matter particles, mediator masses below 50 GeV are excluded assuming a dark-matter candidate mass of 1 GeV and unitary couplings. For scalar and pseudoscalar mediators produced in association with bottom quarks, the search sets limits on the production cross- section of 300 times the predicted rate for mediators with masses between 10 and 50 GeV and assuming a dark-matter mass of 1 GeV and unitary coupling. Constraints on colour- charged scalar simplified models are also presented. Assuming a dark-matter particle mass of 35 GeV, mediator particles with mass below 1.1 TeV are excluded for couplings yielding a dark-matter relic density consistent with measurements
