    広島県廿日市市宮島の植物について,厳島の自然(1975)の発刊後に標本あるいは文献等で記録されたコケ植物のリストと標本・文献情報等について報告した。標本や文献情報,現地調査の結果,今回が初報告となるOrthotrichum consobrinum Cardot タチヒダゴケとPhyscomitrium eurystomum Sendtn. ヒロクチゴケ,Ulota crispa (Hedw.) Brid. カラフトキンモウケ,Lunularia cruciata (L.) Dumort. ミカヅキゼニゴケ,Riccia stenophylla Spruce ホソバウキゴケを含め12種が1975年以降に新たに報告された。また,分類学的研究や分子系統学的研究などの証拠標本として28種の宮島産コケ植物が1975年以降に引用されていることが確認された。Since the 1975 publication “Land and Life in Itsukushima”, we have documented the addition of 12 bryophytes confirmed or recorded for Miyajima Island, Hiroshima Prefecture, SW Japan. Based on previous publications, specimens and our recent investigations, we add Archidium ohioense Schimp. ex Müll.Hal., Brachythecium sakuraii Broth., Ditrichum lineare (Sw.) Lindb., Eccremidium minutum (Mitt.) I.G.Stone & G.A.M.Scott, Orthotrichum consobrinum Cardot, Physcomitrium eurystomum Sendtn., Timmiella anomala (Bruch & Schimp.) Limpr., Ulota crispa (Hedw.) Brid., Fossombronia japonica Schiffn., Lunularia cruciata (L.) Dumort., Riccardia marginata (Colenso) Pearson var. pacifica Furuki, and Riccia stenophylla Spruce. We also provide additional information on previously reported bryophytes, including Diphyscium lorifolium (Cardot) Magombo, Syrrhopodon tosaensis Cardot, Weissia exserta (Broth.) P.C.Chen, W. newcomeri (E.B.Bartram) K.Saito, Archilejeunea planifolia (Horik.) Mizut., Odontoschisma pseudogrosseverrucosum Gradst., S.C.Aranda & Vanderp., Trichocolea pluma (Reinw., Blume & Nees) Mont., and Tuyamaella molischii (Schiffn.)     The Bryophyte flora of Kinabalu National Park (Sabah, Malaysia), based on the collections by Japan-Malaysia collaborative expeditions in 1997

    Bryophytes of Kinabalu National Park (including Poring) are reported here based on collections made by two Japan-Malaysia collaborative expeditions held in 1997. Although our research centered mainly on moss flora, some hepatics were also collected. A total of 40 families, 111 genera and 203 species of mosses, as well as 18 families, 25 genera and 31 species of hepatics were found among our collections. Twenty-five species were new to Kinabalu National Park or Sabah, 17 of which were new to Borneo Island

    Implementation of a new specific program for training curators at Hiroshima University

    博物館法施行規則の改正に伴い,2012年4月から学芸員資格取得のために修得すべき科目が大幅に変更となった。学芸員資格取得の歴史においてはきわめて大きな変更である。本学では,これに対応するため,各学部の学芸員資格取得特定プログラムを統合し,全学の学生を対象とする新課程に移行した。本稿では,本学が新たに採用した4学期制(ターム制)を含め,今回の変更が受講や資格取得にどのような影響を及ぼしたのか,統計データの分析を通じて考察した。新課程移行の前後で,プログラム登録者数,資格取得者数は大幅に減少し,取得率も大きく低下した。こうした現象は特定の学部,分野の変化に基づくものではなく,旧課程においてプログラム登録の主体となってきた全ての学部に共通する。分析を通じて,大幅な必要単位数の増加,全学を対象としたプログラムへの変更,2学期制から4学期制(ターム制)への変更など,複数の要因が関連して,各学部における専門の修得と学芸員資格取得を両立させることが困難な状況が生じていることが推定された。As a result of the revision of Museum Law Enforcement Rules, the subjects that must be completed to acquire the curator qualification have changed significantly since April 2012, which constitutes a major change in the history of this qualification. To cope with this change, we integrated the curator qualification specific programs of each faculty into a new course for students of all universities. In this paper, through statistical data analysis, we examined the impact of this change on attendance trends, including the term system newly adopted by Hiroshima University. Before and after the transition to the new course, the number of program registrants and qualifications greatly decreased, and the acquisition rate has also declined significantly. These phenomena were not based on changes in specific faculties or fields, but are common to all faculties subject to program registration during the old course. Through this analysis, we presumed that several factors, such as the great increase in the required number of credits, the change to the program for the whole school, and the change from a two-semester system to the four-semester system, were all interrelated to each other, which make it difficult to achieve both specialized and curator qualifications.本稿は,2018年6月22日に香川大学で開催された第13回日本博物科学会で口頭発表した藤野次史・青木孝夫・清水則雄・菅村 亨・本多博之・山口富美夫・山崎博史・吉田将之「広島大学における新課程実施後の学芸員資格取得状況について」を元に,新たなデータを加えて考察したものである

    広島大学デジタル自然史博物館は,広島大学の開学以来長年にわたって蓄積された教育・研究に関する知的資産を外部に公開し,生涯学習や学校教育のために活用することを目的として設置されている。デジタル自然史博物館には生物学や地学とそれに関係する資料が含まれる。特徴のあるコンテンツとしてはコケ植物や世界遺産宮島に関するものがあげられる。コンテンツの大部分は日本語であり,アクセス数は2015年度以降増加傾向にある。今後,現在進めているMediaWiki を使ったシステムへの移行を進めるとともに,コンテンツの充実やICT を使った学習への対応,運用母体の強化などを通じて,教育・研究のためだけでなく地域貢献のためのリソースとして発展させる計画である。The Digital Natural History Museum of Hiroshima University is a cluster of web sites for dissemination and practical use of educational and research resources for lifelong learning as well as school education in collaboration with laboratories and centers of Hiroshima University, Japan. The museum site includes contents on biological, environmental and earth sciences, mainly in Japanese with some English, especially bryophytes and the world heritage listed Itsukushima (Miyajima) Island, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan. Online site access has increased since 2015. The museum site is now transferring the html based system to the MediaWiki system which is a free and open-source wiki software. For regional studies we plan to expand significantly the content of available resources to enable greater use and ease of access through information and communication technology (ICT)

    Relationship between the cAMP levels in leukocytes and the cytokine balance in patients surviving gram negative bacterial pneumonia

    Lipopolysaccharide-stimulated leukocytes secrete proinflammatory cytokines including tumor necrosis factor-α and interleukin-12. Over-activation of host defense systems may result in severe tissue damage and requires regulation. Granulocyte colony-stimulating factor and interleukin-10 are candidate cytokines for inducing tolerance to lipopolysaccharide re-stimulation. We compared cytokines secreted by lipopolysaccharide-stimulated blood cells from patients who had survived gram negative bacterial pneumonia (Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli or Proteus mirabilis, n = 26) and age-matched healthy volunteers (n = 18). Interleukin-12p70 and tumor necrosis factor-α expression was significantly lower in patients (p = 0.0039 and p<0.001) compared to healthy controls, while granulocyte colony-stimulating factor production was markedly higher in patients (p<0.001). Levels of interleukin-10 were comparable. Granulocyte colony-stimulating factor expression was inversely correlated with interleukin-12p70 (R = −0.71, p<0.001) and tumor necrosis factor-α (R = −0.64, p<0.001) expression; interleukin-10 showed no significant correlation. In unstimulated leukocytes from patients, cAMP levels were significantly raised (p = 0.020) and were correlated inversely with interleukin-12p70 levels (R = −0.81, p<0.001) and directly with granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (R = 0.72, p = 0.0020), matrix metalloproteinase-9 (R = 0.67, p = 0.0067) and interleukin-10 (R = 0.54, p = 0.039) levels. Our results demonstrate that granulocyte colony-stimulating factor production by lipopolysaccharide-stimulated leukocytes is a useful indicator of tolerance induction in surviving pneumonia patients and that measuring cAMP in freshly isolated leukocytes may also be clinically significant

    Relativistic Effect on Low-Energy Nucleon-Deuteron Scattering

    The relativistic effect on differential cross sections, nucleon-to-nucleon and nucleon-to-deuteron polarization transfer coefficients, and the spin correlation function, of nucleon-deuteron elastic scattering is investigated employing several three-dimensional relativistic three-body equations and several nucleon-nucleon potentials. The polarization transfer coefficients are found to be sensitive to the details of the nucleon-nucleon potentials and the relativistic dynamics employed, and prefer trinucleon models with the correct triton binding energy.     Search for dark matter produced in association with bottom or top quarks in √s = 13 TeV pp collisions with the ATLAS detector

    A search for weakly interacting massive particle dark matter produced in association with bottom or top quarks is presented. Final states containing third-generation quarks and miss- ing transverse momentum are considered. The analysis uses 36.1 fb−1 of proton–proton collision data recorded by the ATLAS experiment at √s = 13 TeV in 2015 and 2016. No significant excess of events above the estimated backgrounds is observed. The results are in- terpreted in the framework of simplified models of spin-0 dark-matter mediators. For colour- neutral spin-0 mediators produced in association with top quarks and decaying into a pair of dark-matter particles, mediator masses below 50 GeV are excluded assuming a dark-matter candidate mass of 1 GeV and unitary couplings. For scalar and pseudoscalar mediators produced in association with bottom quarks, the search sets limits on the production cross- section of 300 times the predicted rate for mediators with masses between 10 and 50 GeV and assuming a dark-matter mass of 1 GeV and unitary coupling. Constraints on colour- charged scalar simplified models are also presented. Assuming a dark-matter particle mass of 35 GeV, mediator particles with mass below 1.1 TeV are excluded for couplings yielding a dark-matter relic density consistent with measurements
