Economic crisis and the construction of a neo-liberal regulatory regime in Korea
A consistent theme of the literature on the ontology of the 1997 South Korean crisis is the key role played by regulatory failures and the growing weakness of the state. This paper seeks to briefly highlight both the insights and the limitations of this approach to understanding the crisis. Having done so, we shall set out the argument that the crisis created an opportunity for reformist Korean élites to advance their longstanding, but previously frustrated, project to create a comprehensive unambiguously neo-liberal regulatory regime. This paper will also seek to highlight the implications of our reading of the development of the Korean political economy for broader debates on economic liberalisation, crisis and the future of the developmental state
Lattice Study of the Decay B^0-bar -> rho^+ l^- nu_l-bar: Model-Independent Determination of |V_{ub}|
We present results of a lattice computation of the vector and axial-vector
current matrix elements relevant for the semileptonic decay B^0-bar -> rho^+
l^- nu_l-bar. The computations are performed in the quenched approximation of
lattice QCD on a 24^3 x 48 lattice at beta = 6.2, using an O(a) improved
fermionic action. Our principal result is for the differential decay rate,
dGamma/dq^2, for the decay B^0-bar -> rho^+ l^- nu_l-bar in a region beyond the
charm threshold, allowing a model-independent extraction of |V_{ub}| from
experimental measurements. Heavy quark symmetry relations between radiative and
semileptonic decays of B-bar mesons into light vector mesons are also

Making Sense Through Participation
In this chapter we discuss the issue of social differences in relation to learning. In theories on co-operative learning or
collaborative learning social differences are treated as characteristics of individual learners. The focus on learning as
a social process is primarily elaborated in terms of interaction between pupils and the combined construction of knowledge. Sociocultural
theory (Vygotsky, Lave & Wenger), however, understands ‘social’ not only in terms of knowledge/meaning being constructed in
interaction with others, but also in terms of the cultural practices/activities informing these interaction processes. Learning
can be understood as increasing participating in communities of practice. As social differences are an intrinsic part of the
culture in which students are learning to participate, these are also an inherent aspect of learning processes in schools.
Students learn to participate in practices in different ways, depending on their social position, and thus develop distinguished
cultural identities. In this chapter we elaborate on this tenet, using examples from various empirical research projects on
learning in secondary education. We not only show how social differences in the cultural practices that underpin learning
influence what is learned by whom, but also explore the consequences of this perspective for the pedagogical space of the
school
Trion formation dynamics in monolayer transition metal dichalcogenides
We report charged exciton (trion) formation dynamics in doped monolayer transition metal dichalcogenides, specifically molybdenum diselenide (MoSe2), using resonant two-color pump-probe spectroscopy. When resonantly pumping the exciton transition, trions are generated on a picosecond time scale through exciton-electron interaction. As the pump energy is tuned from the high energy to low energy side of the inhomogeneously broadened exciton resonance, the trion formation time increases by ∼50%. This feature can be explained by the existence of both localized and delocalized excitons in a disordered potential and suggests the existence of an exciton mobility edge in transition metal dichalcogenides

Search for direct production of charginos and neutralinos in events with three leptons and missing transverse momentum in √s = 7 TeV pp collisions with the ATLAS detector
A search for the direct production of charginos and neutralinos in final states with three electrons or muons and missing transverse momentum is presented. The analysis is based on 4.7 fb−1 of proton–proton collision data delivered by the Large Hadron Collider and recorded with the ATLAS detector. Observations are consistent with Standard Model expectations in three signal regions that are either depleted or enriched in Z-boson decays. Upper limits at 95% confidence level are set in R-parity conserving phenomenological minimal supersymmetric models and in simplified models, significantly extending previous results
Observation of a New J(PC)=1(+-) Isoscalar State in the Reaction Pi- Proton -> Omega Eta Neutron at 18 GeV/c
Results are presented on a partial wave analysis of the Omega Eta final state
produced in Pi- Proton interactions at 18 GeVc where Omega -> Pi+ Pi- Pi0, Pi0
-> 2 Gammas, and Eta -> 2 Gammas. We observe the previously unreported decay
mode Omega(1650) -> Omega Eta and a new 1(+-) meson state h1(1595) with a mass
M=1594(15)(+10)(-60) MeV/c^2 and a width Gamma=384(60)(+70)(-100) MeV/c^2. The

Refined histopathological predictors of BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutation status: A large-scale analysis of breast cancer characteristics from the BCAC, CIMBA, and ENIGMA consortia
Introduction: The distribution of histopathological features of invasive breast tumors in BRCA1 or BRCA2 germline mutation carriers differs from that of individuals with no known mutation. Histopathological features thus have utility for mutation prediction, including statistical modeling to assess pathogenicity of BRCA1 or BRCA2 variants of uncertain clinical significance. We analyzed large pathology datasets accrued by the Consortium of Investigators of Modifiers of BRCA1/2 (CIMBA) and the Breast Cancer Association Consortium (BCAC) to reassess histopathological predictors of BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutation status, and provide robust likelihood ratio (LR) estimates for statistical modeling. Methods: Selection criteria for study/center inclusion were estrogen receptor (ER) status or grade data available for invasive breast cancer diagnosed younger than 70 years.
