    Gestión de la innovatividad universitaria

    oai:ojs2.ambientevirtualuea.org:article/3Universities are called to offer answers to the complexities of the contemporary world, with significant contributions to the development of countries in terms of overcoming inequalities, poverty and exclusion; together with the rational use of resources that guarantees human survival in sustainability with the environment. Innovation is one of the central characteristics in the training profiles, with a view to increasing the capacity of universities to generate solutions to local problems, and a feature that enhances the employability of graduates. Within the framework of experiences for the formation of innovative skills in university students, the study presents the results of an investigation under the paradigm of reflexivity, with the aim of representing in a management model the actions carried out by a commission in charge of the promotion of innovation in a university in Venezuela, during 1998 - 2015. From the recovery of documentary sources, interviews and participant observations, the members analyzed, collated and synthesized the historical memory of the commission, elaborating the Management Model of the University innovation. The axes, processes and values that enable the virtuous confluence of articulated capacities and attitudes, of organizations, people and systems, to generate innovations are described. The model provides good practices of high applicability and transfer for the promotion of a culture of innovation in universities.Las universidades están llamadas a ofrecer respuestas a las complejidades del mundo contemporáneo, con aportes significativos para el desarrollo de los países en términos de superación de las desigualdades, pobreza y exclusión; junto con el aprovechamiento racional de los recursos, que garanticen la supervivencia humana en sustentabilidad con el ambiente. La innovación es una de las características centrales en los perfiles de formación, con miras a incrementar la capacidad de las universidades para generar soluciones a problemas locales; es además un rasgo que potencia la empleabilidad de los egresados. En el marco de experiencias para la formación de competencias innovadoras en estudiantes universitarios, este estudio presenta los resultados de una investigación bajo el paradigma de la reflexividad, con el objetivo de representar en un modelo de gestión, las acciones adelantadas por una comisión a cargo de la promoción de la innovación en una universidad de Venezuela, durante 1998 – 2015. A partir de la recuperación de fuentes documentales, entrevistas y observaciones participantes, los miembros analizaron, cotejaron y sintetizaron la memoria histórica de la comisión, elaborando el Modelo de Gestión de la Innovatividad Universitaria. Se describen los ejes, procesos y valores que posibilitan la confluencia virtuosa de capacidades y actitudes articuladas, de organizaciones, personas y sistemas, para generar innovaciones. El modelo aporta buenas prácticas de alta aplicabilidad y transferencia para la promoción de una cultura de la innovación en las universidades

    The Galaxy Content of SDSS Clusters and Groups

    Imaging data from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey are used to characterize the population of galaxies in groups and clusters detected with the MaxBCG algorithm. We investigate the dependence of Brightest Cluster Galaxy (BCG) luminosity, and the distributions of satellite galaxy luminosity and satellite color, on cluster properties over the redshift range 0.1 < z < 0.3. The size of the dataset allows us to make measurements in many bins of cluster richness, radius and redshift. We find that, within r_200 of clusters with mass above 3e13 h-1 M_sun, the luminosity function of both red and blue satellites is only weakly dependent on richness. We further find that the shape of the satellite luminosity function does not depend on cluster-centric distance for magnitudes brighter than ^{0.25}M_i - 5log(h) < -19. However, the mix of faint red and blue galaxies changes dramatically. The satellite red fraction is dependent on cluster-centric distance, galaxy luminosity and cluster mass, and also increases by ~5% between redshifts 0.28 and 0.2, independent of richness. We find that BCG luminosity is tightly correlated with cluster richness, scaling as L_{BCG} ~ M_{200}^{0.3}, and has a Gaussian distribution at fixed richness, with sigma_{log L} ~ 0.17 for massive clusters. The ratios of BCG luminosity to total cluster luminosity and characteristic satellite luminosity scale strongly with cluster richness: in richer systems, BCGs contribute a smaller fraction of the total light, but are brighter compared to typical satellites.     Humanity depends on the existence of healthy soils, both for the production of food and for ensuring a healthy, biodiverse environment, among other functions. COVID-19 is threatening food availability in many places of the world due to the disruption of food chains, lack of workforce, closed borders and national lockdowns. As a consequence, more emphasis is being placed on local food production, which may lead to more intensive cultivation of vulnerable areas and to soil degradation. In order to increase the resilience of populations facing this pandemic and future global crises, transitioning to a paradigm that relies more heavily on local food production on soils that are carefully tended and protected through sustainable management is necessary. To reach this goal, the Intergovernmental Technical Panel on Soils (ITPS) of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) recommends five active strategies: improved access to land, sound land use planning, sustainable soil management, enhanced research, and investments in education and extension

    Antimicrobial resistance among migrants in Europe: a systematic review and meta-analysis

    BACKGROUND: Rates of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) are rising globally and there is concern that increased migration is contributing to the burden of antibiotic resistance in Europe. However, the effect of migration on the burden of AMR in Europe has not yet been comprehensively examined. Therefore, we did a systematic review and meta-analysis to identify and synthesise data for AMR carriage or infection in migrants to Europe to examine differences in patterns of AMR across migrant groups and in different settings. METHODS: For this systematic review and meta-analysis, we searched MEDLINE, Embase, PubMed, and Scopus with no language restrictions from Jan 1, 2000, to Jan 18, 2017, for primary data from observational studies reporting antibacterial resistance in common bacterial pathogens among migrants to 21 European Union-15 and European Economic Area countries. To be eligible for inclusion, studies had to report data on carriage or infection with laboratory-confirmed antibiotic-resistant organisms in migrant populations. We extracted data from eligible studies and assessed quality using piloted, standardised forms. We did not examine drug resistance in tuberculosis and excluded articles solely reporting on this parameter. We also excluded articles in which migrant status was determined by ethnicity, country of birth of participants' parents, or was not defined, and articles in which data were not disaggregated by migrant status. Outcomes were carriage of or infection with antibiotic-resistant organisms. We used random-effects models to calculate the pooled prevalence of each outcome. The study protocol is registered with PROSPERO, number CRD42016043681. FINDINGS: We identified 2274 articles, of which 23 observational studies reporting on antibiotic resistance in 2319 migrants were included. The pooled prevalence of any AMR carriage or AMR infection in migrants was 25·4% (95% CI 19·1-31·8; I2 =98%), including meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (7·8%, 4·8-10·7; I2 =92%) and antibiotic-resistant Gram-negative bacteria (27·2%, 17·6-36·8; I2 =94%). The pooled prevalence of any AMR carriage or infection was higher in refugees and asylum seekers (33·0%, 18·3-47·6; I2 =98%) than in other migrant groups (6·6%, 1·8-11·3; I2 =92%). The pooled prevalence of antibiotic-resistant organisms was slightly higher in high-migrant community settings (33·1%, 11·1-55·1; I2 =96%) than in migrants in hospitals (24·3%, 16·1-32·6; I2 =98%). We did not find evidence of high rates of transmission of AMR from migrant to host populations. INTERPRETATION: Migrants are exposed to conditions favouring the emergence of drug resistance during transit and in host countries in Europe. Increased antibiotic resistance among refugees and asylum seekers and in high-migrant community settings (such as refugee camps and detention facilities) highlights the need for improved living conditions, access to health care, and initiatives to facilitate detection of and appropriate high-quality treatment for antibiotic-resistant infections during transit and in host countries. Protocols for the prevention and control of infection and for antibiotic surveillance need to be integrated in all aspects of health care, which should be accessible for all migrant groups, and should target determinants of AMR before, during, and after migration.     HE-LHC: The High-Energy Large Hadron Collider – Future Circular Collider Conceptual Design Report Volume 4

    In response to the 2013 Update of the European Strategy for Particle Physics (EPPSU), the Future Circular Collider (FCC) study was launched as a world-wide international collaboration hosted by CERN. The FCC study covered an energy-frontier hadron collider (FCC-hh), a highest-luminosity high-energy lepton collider (FCC-ee), the corresponding 100 km tunnel infrastructure, as well as the physics opportunities of these two colliders, and a high-energy LHC, based on FCC-hh technology. This document constitutes the third volume of the FCC Conceptual Design Report, devoted to the hadron collider FCC-hh. It summarizes the FCC-hh physics discovery opportunities, presents the FCC-hh accelerator design, performance reach, and staged operation plan, discusses the underlying technologies, the civil engineering and technical infrastructure, and also sketches a possible implementation. Combining ingredients from the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the high-luminosity LHC upgrade and adding novel technologies and approaches, the FCC-hh design aims at significantly extending the energy frontier to 100 TeV. Its unprecedented centre-of-mass collision energy will make the FCC-hh a unique instrument to explore physics beyond the Standard Model, offering great direct sensitivity to new physics and discoveries

    Studies of η\eta and η\eta' production in pppp and ppPb collisions

    The production of η\eta and η\eta' mesons is studied in proton-proton and proton-lead collisions collected with the LHCb detector. Proton-proton collisions are studied at center-of-mass energies of 5.025.02 and 13 TeV13~{\rm TeV}, and proton-lead collisions are studied at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon of 8.16 TeV8.16~{\rm TeV}. The studies are performed in center-of-mass rapidity regions 2.5<yc.m.<3.52.5<y_{\rm c.m.}<3.5 (forward rapidity) and 4.0<yc.m.<3.0-4.0<y_{\rm c.m.}<-3.0 (backward rapidity) defined relative to the proton beam direction. The η\eta and η\eta' production cross sections are measured differentially as a function of transverse momentum for 1.5<pT<10 GeV1.5<p_{\rm T}<10~{\rm GeV} and 3<pT<10 GeV3<p_{\rm T}<10~{\rm GeV}, respectively. The differential cross sections are used to calculate nuclear modification factors. The nuclear modification factors for η\eta and η\eta' mesons agree at both forward and backward rapidity, showing no significant evidence of mass dependence. The differential cross sections of η\eta mesons are also used to calculate η/π0\eta/\pi^0 cross section ratios, which show evidence of a deviation from the world average.     Fraction of χc\chi_c decays in prompt J/ψJ/\psi production measured in pPb collisions at sNN=8.16\sqrt{s_{NN}}=8.16 TeV

    The fraction of χc1\chi_{c1} and χc2\chi_{c2} decays in the prompt J/ψJ/\psi yield, Fχc=σχcJ/ψ/σJ/ψF_{\chi c}=\sigma_{\chi_c \to J/\psi}/\sigma_{J/\psi}, is measured by the LHCb detector in pPb collisions at sNN=8.16\sqrt{s_{NN}}=8.16 TeV. The study covers the forward (1.5<y<4.01.5<y^*<4.0) and backward (5.0<y<2.5-5.0<y^*<-2.5) rapidity regions, where yy^* is the J/ψJ/\psi rapidity in the nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass system. Forward and backward rapidity samples correspond to integrated luminosities of 13.6 ±\pm 0.3 nb1^{-1} and 20.8 ±\pm 0.5 nb1^{-1}, respectively. The result is presented as a function of the J/ψJ/\psi transverse momentum pT,J/ψp_{T,J/\psi} in the range 1<pT,J/ψ<20<p_{T, J/\psi}<20 GeV/cc. The FχcF_{\chi c} fraction at forward rapidity is compatible with the LHCb measurement performed in pppp collisions at s=7\sqrt{s}=7 TeV, whereas the result at backward rapidity is 2.4 σ\sigma larger than in the forward region for 1<pT,J/ψ<31<p_{T, J/\psi}<3 GeV/cc. The increase of FχcF_{\chi c} at low pT,J/ψp_{T, J/\psi} at backward rapidity is compatible with the suppression of the ψ\psi(2S) contribution to the prompt J/ψJ/\psi yield. The lack of in-medium dissociation of χc\chi_c states observed in this study sets an upper limit of 180 MeV on the free energy available in these pPb collisions to dissociate or inhibit charmonium state formation.Comment: All figures and tables, along with machine-readable versions and any supplementary material and additional information, are available at https://cern.ch/lhcbproject/Publications/p/LHCb-PAPER-2023-028.html (LHCb public pages
