    RMS-R3 – the system for monitoring the region of interactions and background at the LHCB experiment (CERN)

    The upgraded Large Hadron Collider beauty (LHCb) detector will provide data taken in Run3 at the instantaneous luminosity of proton-proton collisions increased to 2⋅1033 cm-2s-1 at energies of up to 14 TeV. To ensure the safe operation of the experiment, a new beam and background Radiation Monitoring System (RMS-R3) was built. RMS-R3 is based on metal-foil detector technology developed at the Institute for Nuclear Research, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Kyiv, Ukraine). The system comprises four detector modules with two sensors in each. Their frequency response is proportional to the flux of incident charged particles. The modules are located around the beam pipe at a distance of 2.2 m from the interaction point. The results measured during the Run3 in 2022 testify to the reliable operation of the system. Applying the asymmetry method, high-accuracy data were obtained on the localization of the interactions region and the beam and background contribution

Мета дослідження - вивчити різні типи поведінки в професійному середовищі та виявити досвід, пов'язаний з роботою поліції, як на початковому етапі професійної підготовки (студенти), так і після двох років роботи (працівники патрульної поліції). Як психодіагностичний інструмент було використано "Інвентарій професійного стресу та подолання". У дослідженні взяли участь загалом 604 працівники поліції, що складалися з 354 осіб у першій групі на початковій стадії професійної підготовки (студенти) та 250 осіб у другій групі після двох років досвіду роботи (працівники поліції). Результати дослідження говорять про відмінності показників, пов’язаних із досвідом майбутніх працівників патрульної поліції та тих, хто вже працює. Ми визначили домінуючі сфери особистості та типи поведінки працівників поліції. Отримані результати оновлюють розвиток педагогічних технологій з метою оптимізації розвитку професійної ідентичності працівників поліції на кожному з етапів їх професіоналізації.In this paper, attention has been paid to the study of the psychological experiences associated with the future of the patrol police in Ukraine, a significant percentage of whom had no prior experience in law enforcement activities. The purpose of the research is to study the different types of behaviour in the professional environment and identify the experiences associated with the work of the police both at the initial professional training stage (students) and following two years of work (patrol police officers). As a psychodiagnostic tool, the “Occupational Stress and Coping Inventory” was used. The research involved a total of 604 police officers, consisting of 354 people in the first group at the initial professional training stage (students), and 250 people in the second group following two years of work experience (police officers). The results of the study suggest differences in the indicators related to the experience of future police patrol officers and those already working. We have identified dominant spheres of personality and types of behaviour of police officers. The results obtained update the development of pedagogical technologies in order to optimize the development of the professional identity of the police officers at each of the stages of their professionalization.В работе внимание уделяется изучению психологических переживаний, связанных с будущим патрульной полиции в Украине, значительная часть которых не имела предыдущего опыта правоохранительной деятельности. Цель исследования - изучить различные типы поведения в профессиональной среде и выявить опыт, связанный с работой полиции, как на начальном этапе профессиональной подготовки (студенты), так и после двух лет работы (работники патрульной полиции)

    The reports collected in these proceedings have been presented in the third French-Ukrainian workshop on the instrumentation developments for high-energy physics held at LAL, Orsay on October 15-16. The workshop was conducted in the scope of the IDEATE International Associated Laboratory (LIA). Joint developments between French and Ukrainian laboratories and universities as well as new proposals have been discussed.     First Operational Experience from the LHCb Silicon Tracker

    The LHCb Silicon Tracker is a silicon micro-strip detector covering a sensitive area of 12 m2 with a total of 272k readout channels. The installation of the detector is complete and commissioning is making excellent progress. The detector has recorded first beam-induced events during LHC synchronization tests in August 2008 and in June 2009. These events have allowed the performance to be studied, and adjustments to the operational parameters to be made. In this contribution, we will draw first lessons from the in-situ commissioning of the Silicon Tracker, and present results from the reconstruction of data collected during the LHC synchronization tests

    Commissioning of the LHCb Silicon Tracker using data from the LHC injection tests

    LHCb is a single-arm forward spectrometer dedicated to the study of the CP-violation and rare decays in the b-quark sector. An efficient and high precision tracking system is a key requirement of the experiment. The LHCb Silicon Tracker Project consists of two sub-detectors that make use of silicon micro-strip technology: the Tracker Turicensis located upstream of the spectrometer magnet and the Inner Tracker which covers the innermost part of the tracking stations after the magnet. In total an area of 12 m^2 is covered by silicon. In September 2008 and June 2009, injection tests from the SPS to the LHC were performed. Bunches of order 5x10^9 protons were dumped onto a beam stopper (TED) located upstream of LHCb. This produced a spray of ~10 GeV muons in the LHCb detector. Though the occupancy in this environment is relatively large, these TED runs have allowed a first space and time alignment of the tracking system. Results of these studies together and the overall detector performance obtained in the TED running will be discussed

    Quantum numbers of the X(3872)X(3872) state and orbital angular momentum in its ρ0Jψ\rho^0 J\psi decay

    Angular correlations in B+X(3872)K+B^+\to X(3872) K^+ decays, with X(3872)ρ0J/ψX(3872)\to \rho^0 J/\psi, ρ0π+π\rho^0\to\pi^+\pi^- and J/ψμ+μJ/\psi \to\mu^+\mu^-, are used to measure orbital angular momentum contributions and to determine the JPCJ^{PC} value of the X(3872)X(3872) meson. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb1^{-1} of proton-proton collisions collected with the LHCb detector. This determination, for the first time performed without assuming a value for the orbital angular momentum, confirms the quantum numbers to be JPC=1++J^{PC}=1^{++}. The X(3872)X(3872) is found to decay predominantly through S wave and an upper limit of 4%4\% at 95%95\% C.L. is set on the fraction of D wave.Comment: 16 pages, 4 figure

    Search for the lepton-flavor-violating decays Bs0→e±μ∓ and B0→e±μ∓

    A search for the lepton-flavor-violating decays Bs0→e±μ∓ and B0→e±μ∓ is performed with a data sample, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0  fb-1 of pp collisions at √s=7  TeV, collected by the LHCb experiment. The observed number of Bs0→e±μ∓ and B0→e±μ∓ candidates is consistent with background expectations. Upper limits on the branching fractions of both decays are determined to be B(Bs0→e±μ∓)101  TeV/c2 and MLQ(B0→e±μ∓)>126  TeV/c2 at 95% C.L., and are a factor of 2 higher than the previous bounds

    Search for CP violation in D+→ϕπ+ and D+s→K0Sπ+ decays

    A search for CP violation in D + → ϕπ + decays is performed using data collected in 2011 by the LHCb experiment corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb−1 at a centre of mass energy of 7 TeV. The CP -violating asymmetry is measured to be (−0.04 ± 0.14 ± 0.14)% for candidates with K − K + mass within 20 MeV/c 2 of the ϕ meson mass. A search for a CP -violating asymmetry that varies across the ϕ mass region of the D + → K − K + π + Dalitz plot is also performed, and no evidence for CP violation is found. In addition, the CP asymmetry in the D+s→K0Sπ+ decay is measured to be (0.61 ± 0.83 ± 0.14)%

    Observation of two new Ξb\Xi_b^- baryon resonances

    Two structures are observed close to the kinematic threshold in the Ξb0π\Xi_b^0 \pi^- mass spectrum in a sample of proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb1^{-1} recorded by the LHCb experiment. In the quark model, two baryonic resonances with quark content bdsbds are expected in this mass region: the spin-parity JP=12+J^P = \frac{1}{2}^+ and JP=32+J^P=\frac{3}{2}^+ states, denoted Ξb\Xi_b^{\prime -} and Ξb\Xi_b^{*-}. Interpreting the structures as these resonances, we measure the mass differences and the width of the heavier state to be m(Ξb)m(Ξb0)m(π)=3.653±0.018±0.006m(\Xi_b^{\prime -}) - m(\Xi_b^0) - m(\pi^{-}) = 3.653 \pm 0.018 \pm 0.006 MeV/c2/c^2, m(Ξb)m(Ξb0)m(π)=23.96±0.12±0.06m(\Xi_b^{*-}) - m(\Xi_b^0) - m(\pi^{-}) = 23.96 \pm 0.12 \pm 0.06 MeV/c2/c^2, Γ(Ξb)=1.65±0.31±0.10\Gamma(\Xi_b^{*-}) = 1.65 \pm 0.31 \pm 0.10 MeV, where the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. The width of the lighter state is consistent with zero, and we place an upper limit of Γ(Ξb)<0.08\Gamma(\Xi_b^{\prime -}) < 0.08 MeV at 95% confidence level. Relative production rates of these states are also reported.Comment: 17 pages, 2 figure
