    Impact of host plant species and whitefly species on feeding behavior of Bemisia tabaci

    Open Access JournalWhiteflies of the Bemisia tabaci species complex are economically important pests of cassava. In Africa, they cause greatest damage through vectoring viruses responsible for cassava mosaic disease and cassava brown streak disease. Several cryptic species from the B. tabaci complex colonize cassava and neighboring crops, but the feeding interactions between the different crops and B. tabaci species are unknown. The electrical penetration graph (EPG) technique makes it possible to conduct detailed feeding studies of sap-sucking insects by creating an electric circuit through the insect and the plant. The apparatus measures the voltage fluctuations while the wired-up insect feeds and produces graphs that describe feeding behavior. We utilized EPG to explore the feeding behavior of cassava-colonizing whiteflies (SSA1-SG3) on cassava, sweet potato, tomato, and cotton; and sweet potato-colonizing whiteflies (MED and IO) on cassava and sweet potato. Results show that: (1) feeding of SSA1-SG3 is not restricted to cassava. The least preferred host for SSA1-SG3 was tomato, where probing was delayed by 99 min compared to 10 min on other hosts, furthermore mean duration of phloem ingestion events was 36 min compared to 260 min on cassava. (2) Feeding of MED on cassava appeared to be non-functional, as it was characterized by short total phloem ingestion periods (5 h). (3) Wire diameter affects the feeding in a statistically and practically significant manner. Implications for whitefly control and studies of host whitefly resistance are discussed

    Inclusive schools involves constantly involves each student barriers to learning and participation (ie, individuals with mild developmental disabilities, talented and gifted) and all other students in all aspects of educational activities in teaching, and extracurricular, social and cultural helpful public, according to their individual potentials (cognitive, conative, social and moral, affective and psychomotor) and the maximum of the expected learning outcomes, creating and teaching. Inclusion in education is defined as the process of learning and education for children with special educational needs, in which all children have equal opportunities to develop their physical, spiritual, emotional, social and other skills. The introduction of religious education in schools, on the one hand is a flagrant violation of the privacy regulation religious beliefs and freedom of religion. On the other, terminating the religious equality. That is because, as the right to religious education in some countries, recognized only by members of the dominant churches, as for other minority religious education and does not perform because of the small number of children that could attend. In Serbia, this right was recognized except the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Catholic Church, Islamic and Jewish communities, Slovak-Evangelical, Reformed-Christian and the Evangelical Christian church. It is not however recognized and other minority communities and their churches. Therefore, it was discrimination against minority religious communities, whose members are unable to attend classes that suit them in today’s elementary and high school, opting to attend classes in civic education. This problem is present in other countries in the region. Present in Europe. In addition, religious education conducted mainly clergy who do not have the necessary professional and technical knowledge, pedagogical-psychological, methodological and other competencies for teaching in schools. Goals and objectives of religious education in terms of inclusive school and therefore can not be achieved, at least not completely. To achieve this, it would be nice that instead of religious education in Schools introduce the history of religion. This would be clearly studied the basic principles of each religion. Classes would be performed by teachers who are competent to do so. And priests in the instruction was occasionally involved in a religious capacity as assistants. This would avoid that this study leaves the framework of religion and religiosity, which go into the teaching of religion in conditions and under circumstances in which they performed in schools quite possible. A possible would seem that religious education can attend all children, regardless of background, race or religion. These issues will be discussed in this paper

    Endoscopic submucosal dissection with a novel high viscosity injection solution (LiftUp) in an ex vivo model: a prospective randomized study

    Introduction  Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is increasingly being used in the western world. Submucosal injectates are an essential tool for the ESD procedure. In this study, we evaluated a novel copolymer injectate (LiftUp, Ovesco, Tübingen Germany) in an established ESD model (EASIE-R) in comparison to existing submucosal injectables. Materials and methods  We conducted a prospective, randomized ex vivo study performing ESD with three injectates: LiftUp, hydroxyethyl starch (HAES 6 %) and normal saline solution (NaCl 0.9 %). A total of 60 artificial lesions, each 3 × 3 cm in size, were resected in an ex vivo porcine model, utilizing one of the three studied injectates (n = 20 ESDs per injectate). Study parameters were: en bloc resection rate, perforation rate, lifting property, time of injection, injectate volume, general ESD procedure time, and overall procedure time. Results  All 60 lesions were successfully resected using the standard ESD technique. LiftUp had no procedure related perforations, one perforation occurred in the HAES group, and two perforations in the NaCl group ( P  > 0.05). Furthermore, adequate lifting was achieved in 16/20 (80 %) using LiftUp, 6/20 (30 %) in the HAES group and 6/20 (30 %) in the NaCl group ( P  < 0.0002). En bloc resection was achieved in 19 (95 %) with LiftUp, in 20 (100 %) with HAES, and in 16 (80 %) with NaCl. General ESD procedure time and overall procedure time were not different among the three groups. Conclusion  LiftUp appears to be a safe alternative to established fluids for ESD. It had a significantly improved lifting effect and required significantly less injected volume compared to well-established lifting solutions

    Search for the standard model Higgs boson in the H to ZZ to 2l 2nu channel in pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV

    A search for the standard model Higgs boson in the H to ZZ to 2l 2nu decay channel, where l = e or mu, in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV is presented. The data were collected at the LHC, with the CMS detector, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 4.6 inverse femtobarns. No significant excess is observed above the background expectation, and upper limits are set on the Higgs boson production cross section. The presence of the standard model Higgs boson with a mass in the 270-440 GeV range is excluded at 95% confidence level.Comment: Submitted to JHE

    Search for anomalous t t-bar production in the highly-boosted all-hadronic final state

    A search is presented for a massive particle, generically referred to as a Z', decaying into a t t-bar pair. The search focuses on Z' resonances that are sufficiently massive to produce highly Lorentz-boosted top quarks, which yield collimated decay products that are partially or fully merged into single jets. The analysis uses new methods to analyze jet substructure, providing suppression of the non-top multijet backgrounds. The analysis is based on a data sample of proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5 inverse femtobarns. Upper limits in the range of 1 pb are set on the product of the production cross section and branching fraction for a topcolor Z' modeled for several widths, as well as for a Randall--Sundrum Kaluza--Klein gluon. In addition, the results constrain any enhancement in t t-bar production beyond expectations of the standard model for t t-bar invariant masses larger than 1 TeV.Comment: Submitted to the Journal of High Energy Physics; this version includes a minor typo correction that will be submitted as an erratu
