All sports events have undergone many innovations during the 100 years development of Olympic Games. In particular track and field events, ,in which skill development is much more obvious, have been characterized by rapid improvements in human performance. Within the field events, the shot put is a complex event that has prompted many skill innovations from throwing in place to side sliding shot putting, to back sliding throwing, and to rotational shot putting. The outcomes of all these innovations seem to add to the duration of the acceleration phase, which then increase the velocity of release. Because shot put belongs to "cast events", According to trajectory principles, its descriptive mechanical formula is S = v02Sin2a/g with S being affected by the velocity of release. So the key to improving performance in the shot put is to increase its velocity of release. Building of the velocity of the shot begins at the slide stage, and then it passes to the transition stage to transform the velocity into motion of the shot put at release. So skill in the transition phase is very important during throwing the shot put. How to minimize the loss of velocity during the throw is the aim of the present study with a particular emphasis on the transition skill

Efficient Routing Protection Algorithm Based on Optimized Network Topology

    Get PDF
Network failures are unavoidable and occur frequently. When the network fails, intra-domain routing protocols deploying on the Internet need to undergo a long convergence process. During this period, a large number of messages are discarded, which results in a decline in the user experience and severely affects the quality of service of Internet Service Providers (ISP). Therefore, improving the availability of intra-domain routing is a trending research question to be solved. Industry usually employs routing protection algorithms to improve intra-domain routing availability. However, existing routing protection schemes compute as many backup paths as possible to reduce message loss due to network failures, which increases the cost of the network and impedes the methods deployed in practice. To address the issues, this study proposes an efficient routing protection algorithm based on optimized network topology (ERPBONT). ERPBONT adopts the optimized network topology to calculate a backup path with the minimum path coincidence degree with the shortest path for all source purposes. Firstly, the backup path with the minimum path coincidence with the shortest path is described as an integer programming problem. Then the simulated annealing algorithm ERPBONT is used to find the optimal solution. Finally, the algorithm is tested on the simulated topology and the real topology. The experimental results show that ERPBONT effectively reduces the path coincidence between the shortest path and the backup path, and significantly improves the routing availability

The Tianlai Cylinder Pathfinder array: System functions and basic performance analysis

    Get PDF
The Tianlai Cylinder Pathfinder is a radio interferometer array designed to test techniques for 21 cm intensity mapping in the post-reionization Universe, with the ultimate aim of mapping the large scale structure and measuring cosmological parameters such as the dark energy equation of state. Each of its three parallel cylinder reflectors is oriented in the north-south direction, and the array has a large field of view. As the Earth rotates, the northern sky is observed by drift scanning. The array is located in Hongliuxia, a radio-quiet site in Xinjiang, and saw its first light in September 2016. In this first data analysis paper for the Tianlai cylinder array, we discuss the sub-system qualification tests, and present basic system performance obtained from preliminary analysis of the commissioning observations during 2016-2018. We show typical interferometric visibility data, from which we derive the actual beam profile in the east-west direction and the frequency band-pass response. We describe also the calibration process to determine the complex gains for the array elements, either using bright astronomical point sources, or an artificial on site calibrator source, and discuss the instrument response stability, crucial for transit interferometry. Based on this analysis, we find a system temperature of about 90 K, and we also estimate the sensitivity of the array

Search for dark matter produced in association with bottom or top quarks in √s = 13 TeV pp collisions with the ATLAS detector

A search for weakly interacting massive particle dark matter produced in association with bottom or top quarks is presented. Final states containing third-generation quarks and miss- ing transverse momentum are considered. The analysis uses 36.1 fb−1 of proton–proton collision data recorded by the ATLAS experiment at √s = 13 TeV in 2015 and 2016. No significant excess of events above the estimated backgrounds is observed. The results are in- terpreted in the framework of simplified models of spin-0 dark-matter mediators. For colour- neutral spin-0 mediators produced in association with top quarks and decaying into a pair of dark-matter particles, mediator masses below 50 GeV are excluded assuming a dark-matter candidate mass of 1 GeV and unitary couplings. For scalar and pseudoscalar mediators produced in association with bottom quarks, the search sets limits on the production cross- section of 300 times the predicted rate for mediators with masses between 10 and 50 GeV and assuming a dark-matter mass of 1 GeV and unitary coupling. Constraints on colour- charged scalar simplified models are also presented. Assuming a dark-matter particle mass of 35 GeV, mediator particles with mass below 1.1 TeV are excluded for couplings yielding a dark-matter relic density consistent with measurements
