Electrocatalytic oxidation of ascorbic acid on mesostructured SiO2-conducting polymer composites

The conducting self-doping copolymer poly(aniline-co-ABA) preserves its redox activity at pH values as high as 7. This observation was the starting point to synthesize an organic inorganic hybrid composite able to electrochemically oxidize ascorbic acid molecules at that pH. The inorganic part of the catalytic element was an ordered mesoporous electrodeposit of SiO2, which has been used as the template for the electrochemical insertion of the self-doping copolymer. The oxidation of ascorbate ions at a fixed potential on this composite was studied by means of the kinetic model proposed by Bartlett and Wallace (2001). It was observed that the effective kinetic constant K-ME increased significantly but, simultaneously, k'(ME) remained almost constant when the composite was employed as the electrocatalytic substrate. These results were interpreted in the light of two combinations of kinetic constants, which strongly suggested that the increase in K-ME should be ascribed to the improvement in electronic conductivity of the copolymer induced by the highly ordered silica template. As? como tambi?n establecer contactos necesarios. Por la cantidad de actores que participan del proyecto, ?stos deben ser gestionados con planes de acci?n espec?ficos por el impacto que puede causar en los otros planes de gesti?n

Amazonian Amphibian Diversity Is Primarily Derived from Late Miocene Andean Lineages

The Neotropics contains half of remaining rainforests and Earth's largest reservoir of amphibian biodiversity. However, determinants of Neotropical biodiversity (i.e., vicariance, dispersals, extinctions, and radiations) earlier than the Quaternary are largely unstudied. Using a novel method of ancestral area reconstruction and relaxed Bayesian clock analyses, we reconstructed the biogeography of the poison frog clade (Dendrobatidae). We rejected an Amazonian center-of-origin in favor of a complex connectivity model expanding over the Neotropics. We inferred 14 dispersals into and 18 out of Amazonia to adjacent regions; the Andes were the major source of dispersals into Amazonia. We found three episodes of lineage dispersal with two interleaved periods of vicariant events between South and Central America. During the late Miocene, Amazonian, and Central American-Chocoan lineages significantly increased their diversity compared to the Andean and Guianan-Venezuelan-Brazilian Shield counterparts. Significant percentage of dendrobatid diversity in Amazonia and Chocó resulted from repeated immigrations, with radiations at <10.0 million years ago (MYA), rather than in situ diversification. In contrast, the Andes, Venezuelan Highlands, and Guiana Shield have undergone extended in situ diversification at near constant rate since the Oligocene. The effects of Miocene paleogeographic events on Neotropical diversification dynamics provided the framework under which Quaternary patterns of endemism evolved

Evaluation of appendicitis risk prediction models in adults with suspected appendicitis

Background Appendicitis is the most common general surgical emergency worldwide, but its diagnosis remains challenging. The aim of this study was to determine whether existing risk prediction models can reliably identify patients presenting to hospital in the UK with acute right iliac fossa (RIF) pain who are at low risk of appendicitis. Methods A systematic search was completed to identify all existing appendicitis risk prediction models. Models were validated using UK data from an international prospective cohort study that captured consecutive patients aged 16–45 years presenting to hospital with acute RIF in March to June 2017. The main outcome was best achievable model specificity (proportion of patients who did not have appendicitis correctly classified as low risk) whilst maintaining a failure rate below 5 per cent (proportion of patients identified as low risk who actually had appendicitis). Results Some 5345 patients across 154 UK hospitals were identified, of which two‐thirds (3613 of 5345, 67·6 per cent) were women. Women were more than twice as likely to undergo surgery with removal of a histologically normal appendix (272 of 964, 28·2 per cent) than men (120 of 993, 12·1 per cent) (relative risk 2·33, 95 per cent c.i. 1·92 to 2·84; P < 0·001). Of 15 validated risk prediction models, the Adult Appendicitis Score performed best (cut‐off score 8 or less, specificity 63·1 per cent, failure rate 3·7 per cent). The Appendicitis Inflammatory Response Score performed best for men (cut‐off score 2 or less, specificity 24·7 per cent, failure rate 2·4 per cent). Conclusion Women in the UK had a disproportionate risk of admission without surgical intervention and had high rates of normal appendicectomy. Risk prediction models to support shared decision‐making by identifying adults in the UK at low risk of appendicitis were identified

Duetothis,thepossiblealternativesthatcanbefoundwhenmakingadesigninaninstallationarereviewed,whichwillbe:thetypeofsubstationtobeinstalled,whattypeofprotectionisappropriate,howtomaketheconnectionandifitisnecessarytocarryoutasmartorsemismartmodel.Eachofthesesolutionswillbeselectedundercriteriasuchascost,efficiency,durability,availablearea,sensitivity,controlandsafety,dependingonwhichalternativeistreatedundertheselectionofadecisionmatrix.Ontheotherhand,ariskanalysisstudyiscarriedoutundertheIECRISKASSESSMENTCALCULATORsoftwareintheeventofexternalfailures(directandindirectatmosphericdischarges),andoncetheresultsareobtained,thebudgetismade,leavingoutcivilworks,givingatotalresultof238.763.345 millones con IVA sobre la utilidad para el año 2020.This project consists of an electrical installation of a rest center located in the city of Cartagena, developed mainly for a user who does not have an electrical design in their installation, therefore, from the point of basic engineering design, it will be a solution following the guidelines given by the NTC 2050 and the RETIE (technical regulation of electrical installations) and the study under international standards such as IEEE 80 2000, IEC 60479-2, IEC 60947-1, IEC 60664-2, among others.
