Seit 2005 ist die Bibliothek des Südasien-Instituts in Kooperation mit der UB Heidelberg Trägerin des DFG-geförderten Sondersammelgebiets Südasien. Damit hat sie von der UB Tübingen ein traditionsreiches Sondersammelgebiet übernommen, dessen Geschichte bis ins Jahr 1949 zurückreicht. Der Vortrag wird zum Einen einen kurzen Überblick über den historischen Kontext des SSG Südasien geben und zum Anderen über Neuentwicklungen, wie z.B. die Virtuelle Fachbibliothek Südasien, die in den letzten zwei Jahren an der Bibliothek des Südasien-Instituts aufgebaut wurde. Vor diesem Hintergrund soll vor allem das Kooperationspotential im Bereich digitaler Informationsressourcen beleuchtet werden

Interface and Interaction Design Patterns for Intercultural Collaboration

This paper reports about on-going research into interaction design patterns in intercultural remote collaboration. It proposes that interaction and interface design patterns help to communicate and generate new design knowledge in supporting intercultural teamwork. It describes methods used to observe and develop design patterns in collocated, remote and blended collaborative learning and design contexts, and reports preliminary findings of interface and interaction design patterns, which support intercultural remote collaboration

Gender Identity and Sense of Self Sufficiency

This study examines the effects of gender identity on sense of safety on a college campus. Data was collected through an online survey sent out to students at the University of New Hampshire. Students answered nominal and ordinal questions about their gender identity, as well as Likert-scale questions regarding opinions on safety while walking on campus. The results of the survey showed correlation between gender identity and sense of safety while walking alone at night, however, the survey showed no correlation between gender identity and sense of safety while walking at night with a friend. Collecting data from a larger and more representative sample would improve findings on students, specifically those who identify as transgender and non-conforming
