This paper presents the results of the research of influence of the Friend rootstock and hole insertion grafting technique on individual mass of watermelon fruit and yield of commercial fruits. The researches were conducted on three hybrids which local farmers produce commercially for the local market; Vasko F1, Fantasy F1 and Crisby F1. By comparative research between the hybrids grafted onto Friend rootstock and hybrids which are not grafted, the mass of the fruits of grafted hybrids is increased for one kilogram per fruit in average and the yield is increased for 29% with specific relation of each hybrid toward rootstock and applied grafting technique

In 2020, which was marked by a pandemic of the COVID-19 virus, many students, teachers, and professors were found in an unknown situation characterized by distance learning. Such methods involve the process of acquiring knowledge without physical contact with the teacher and classmates. During the isolation period, from March to the end of the 2019/2020 school year, classes for lower grade students were organized on public television, but teachers were actively engaged throughout the whole period by sending students additional assignments via their parents using various communication tools, email, and other channels. In addition, teachers used websites, thanks to which students, as well as their parents, had access to more materials and information. In that situation, more than ever, digital tools have been used to bring teachers closer to students. There are many digital tools available on the Internet, and most of them are simple and free to use. Among the various tools, the paper highlights the web tool Canva, which is used for graphic design and mainly serves those who do not have expensive tools and knowledge of how to use them. This tool achieves a professional look for presentations, worksheets, infographics, and other materials that can be implemented in the teaching process, whether in the classroom or online. This paper aimed to describe the digital tools that can be used to create teaching materials, presentations, and enrich teaching with an emphasis on their use during distance learning. The research related to the digitalization of teaching and the use of digital tools is also described, and the advantages and disadvantages of their use in classroom teaching are analyzed. The paper emphasizes the use of web pages as one of the possibilities for better personalization of published content intended for lower primary school students

Svetamycins A-G, unusual piperazic acid-containing peptides from Streptomyces sp.

    No full text
Seven new halogenated peptides termed svetamycins A–G (1–7) have been isolated from laboratory cultures of a Streptomyces sp. Svetamycins A–D, F, and G are cyclic depsipeptides, whereas svetamycin E is a linear analogue of svetamycin C. Their structures were determined using extensive spectroscopic analysis, and their stereochemical configuration was established by a combination of NMR data, quantum mechanical calculations, and chemical derivatizations. Svetamycins are characterized by the presence of a hydroxyl acetic acid and five amino acids including a rare 4,5-dihydroxy-2,3,4,5-tetrahydropyridazine-3-carboxylic acid, a γ-halogenated piperazic acid, and a novel δ-methylated piperazic acid in svetamycins B–C, E, and G. Moreover, isotope-labeled substrate feeding experiments demonstrated ornithine as the precursor of piperazic acid and that methylation at the δ position of the piperazyl scaffold is S-adenosyl-l-methionine (SAM)-dependent. Svetamycin G, the most potent antimicrobial of this suite of compounds, inhibited the growth of Mycobacterium smegmatis with an MIC80 value of 2 μg/mL
