On Hawking's Local Rigidity Theorems for Charged Black Holes
We show the existence of a Hawking vector field in a full neighborhood of a
local, regular, bifurcate, non-expanding horizon embedded in a smooth
Einstein-Maxwell space-time without assuming the underlying space-time is
analytic. It extends one result of Friedrich, R\'{a}cz and Wald, which was
limited to the interior of the black hole region. Moreover, we also show, in
the presence of an additional Killing vector field which tangent to the
horizon and not vanishing on the bifurcate sphere, then space-time must be
locally axially symmetric without the analyticity assumption. This axial
symmetry plays a fundamental role in the classification theory of stationary

Asymptotic channels and gauge transformations of the time-dependent Dirac equation for extremely relativistic heavy-ion collisions
We discuss the two-center, time-dependent Dirac equation describing the
dynamics of an electron during a peripheral, relativistic heavy-ion collision
at extreme energies. We derive a factored form, which is exact in the
high-energy limit, for the asymptotic channel solutions of the Dirac equation,
and elucidate their close connection with gauge transformations which transform
the dynamics into a representation in which the interaction between the
electron and a distant ion is of short range. We describe the implications of
this relationship for solving the time-dependent Dirac equation for extremely

Energy density in the diet of workers from São Paulo, Brazil, and associated socio-demographic factors*
Objective: This paper aims at analyzing the energy density (ED) of the diet of workers from the city of São Paulo, Southeastern Brazil, and the way this is associated with socio-demographic characteristics, as well as evaluating the relationship between ED and nutrient intake. Methods: A cross-sectional study evaluated the diet of 852 workers using the 24-hour dietary recall; one recall was applied to all individuals and a second one was applied to a sub-sample in order to adjust intrapersonal variability. The ED of the diet was calculated using three methods: inclusion of all solid foods and beverages, excluding water (ED 1); inclusion of all solid foods and beverages containing at least 5 kcal/100g (ED 2); and inclusion of all solid foods, excluding all beverages (ED 3). Linear regression was used to analyze the relationship between ED and socio-demographic variables and the relationship between ED and nutrients was evaluated using Pearson coefficient correlation. Results: Considering the workers' diet, the ED values observed were 1.18 kcal/g, 1.22 kcal/g and 1.73 kcal/g for the ED 1, ED 2, ED 3 methods, respectively. In the multiple regression models, only the age variable was maintained in the final model and showed an inverse association with all ED methods. ED 3 showed an increase in energy density for non-white individuals. Of all studied nutrients, protein was the only one that was not significantly correlated with ED 3 (p = 0.899). Conclusion: The young adults studied had a higher energy-density diet, representing a priority group for nutrition interventions. Regardless of the calculation method used, there is a correlation between ED and nutrients.Objetivo: Analisar a densidade energética (DE) da dieta de trabalhadores da cidade de São Paulo e sua associação com características sociodemográficas, bem como avaliar a relação entre DE e ingestão de nutrientes. Métodos: Estudo transversal que avaliou a dieta de 852 trabalhadores, por meio de recordatório de 24 horas, sendo um recordatório aplicado a todos os indivíduos e um segundo para subamostra, a fim de corrigir a variabilidade intrapessoal. A DE da dieta foi calculada por três métodos: inclusão de todos os alimentos sólidos e das bebidas, excluindo apenas água (DE 1); inclusão de todos os alimentos sólidos e bebidas calóricas que contêm, no mínimo, 5 kcal/100g (DE 2); inclusão de todos os alimentos sólidos e exclusão de todas as bebidas (DE 3). Para analisar a relação entre a DE e as variáveis sociodemográficas utilizou-se regressão linear, e a relação entre DE e nutrientes foi avaliada por meio do coeficiente de correlação de Pearson. Resultados: Para a dieta dos trabalhadores, os valores de DE observados foram 1,18 kcal/g, 1,22 kcal/g e 1,73 kcal/g, considerando-se os métodos DE 1, DE 2 e DE 3, respectivamente. Nos modelos múltiplos de regressão, apenas a variável idade apresentou associação negativa com todos os métodos de DE. Para a DE 3, houve incremento da DE para indivíduos não brancos. Dentre os nutrientes estudados, o único que não apresentou correlação significativa foi a proteína, para DE 3 (p = 0,899). Conclusão: Os adultos jovens tinham uma alimentação com maior DE, sendo um grupo prioriatário para intervenções nutricionais. From GHz to mHz: A Multiwavelength Study of the Acoustically Active 14 August 2004 M7.4 Solar Flare
We carried out an electromagnetic acoustic analysis of the solar flare of 14
August 2004 in active region AR10656 from the radio to the hard X-ray spectrum.
The flare was a GOES soft X-ray class M7.4 and produced a detectable sun quake,
confirming earlier inferences that relatively low-energy flares may be able to
generate sun quakes. We introduce the hypothesis that the seismicity of the
active region is closely related to the heights of coronal magnetic loops that
conduct high-energy particles from the flare. In the case of relatively short
magnetic loops, chromospheric evaporation populates the loop interior with
ionized gas relatively rapidly, expediting the scattering of remaining trapped
high-energy electrons into the magnetic loss cone and their rapid precipitation
into the chromosphere. This increases both the intensity and suddenness of the
chromospheric heating, satisfying the basic conditions for an acoustic emission
that penetrates into the solar interior.Comment: Accepted in Solar Physic
Higher Order Processes in Electromagnetic Production of Electron Positron Pairs in Relativistic Heavy Ion Collisions
We study higher-order effects in the electromagnetic production of
electron-positron pairs in relativistic heavy ion collisions. Treating the
field of the heavy ions as an external field and neglecting the interaction
among electrons and positrons, we show that the -pair creation amplitude is
the antisymmetrised product of one-pair creation amplitudes and the vacuum
amplitude. Neglecting contributions coming from exchange terms, we show that
the total probability for pairs is approximately a Poisson distribution. We
investigate further the structure of the reduced one-pair amplitude,
concentrating especially on multiple-particle corrections. We calculate the
first of these corrections in second order Magnus theory based on our previous
result in second-order Born approximation for impact parameter zero.
Explicit calculations show that the total probability is increased up to 10 \%
by this correction for realistic collider parameters. The calculations can also
be used to confirm the use of the Poisson distribution for the total

Uniqueness results for ill posed characteristic problems in curved space-times
We prove two uniqueness theorems for solutions of linear and nonlinear wave
equations; the first theorem is in the Minkowski space while the second is in
the domain of outer communication of a Kerr black hole. Both theorems concern
ill posed Cauchy problems on smooth, bifurcate, characteristic hypersurfaces.
In the case of the Kerr space-time this hypersurface is the event horizon of

Coulomb Effects on Electromagnetic Pair Production in Ultrarelativistic Heavy-Ion Collisions
We discuss the implications of the eikonal amplitude on the pair production
probability in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion transits. In this context the
Weizs\"acker-Williams method is shown to be exact in the ultrarelativistic
limit, irrespective of the produced particles' mass. A new equivalent
single-photon distribution is derived which correctly accounts for the Coulomb
distortions. As an immediate application, consequences for unitarity violation
in photo-dissociation processes in peripheral heavy-ion encounters are

On the uniqueness of smooth, stationary black holes in vacuum
We prove a conditional "no hair" theorem for smooth manifolds: if is the
domain of outer communication of a smooth, regular, stationary Einstein vacuum,
and if a technical condition relating the Ernst potential and Killing scalar is
satisfied on the bifurcate sphere, then is locally isometric to the domain
of outer communication of a Kerr space-time.Comment: Various correction
Measurement of the polarisation of W bosons produced with large transverse momentum in pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV with the ATLAS experiment
This paper describes an analysis of the angular distribution of W->enu and
W->munu decays, using data from pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV recorded with
the ATLAS detector at the LHC in 2010, corresponding to an integrated
luminosity of about 35 pb^-1. Using the decay lepton transverse momentum and
the missing transverse energy, the W decay angular distribution projected onto
the transverse plane is obtained and analysed in terms of helicity fractions
f0, fL and fR over two ranges of W transverse momentum (ptw): 35 < ptw < 50 GeV
and ptw > 50 GeV. Good agreement is found with theoretical predictions. For ptw
> 50 GeV, the values of f0 and fL-fR, averaged over charge and lepton flavour,
are measured to be : f0 = 0.127 +/- 0.030 +/- 0.108 and fL-fR = 0.252 +/- 0.017
+/- 0.030, where the first uncertainties are statistical, and the second

Observation of a new chi_b state in radiative transitions to Upsilon(1S) and Upsilon(2S) at ATLAS
The chi_b(nP) quarkonium states are produced in proton-proton collisions at
the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV and recorded by the ATLAS
detector. Using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.4
fb^-1, these states are reconstructed through their radiative decays to
Upsilon(1S,2S) with Upsilon->mu+mu-. In addition to the mass peaks
corresponding to the decay modes chi_b(1P,2P)->Upsilon(1S)gamma, a new
structure centered at a mass of 10.530+/-0.005 (stat.)+/-0.009 (syst.) GeV is
also observed, in both the Upsilon(1S)gamma and Upsilon(2S)gamma decay modes.
