Aproximació a la figura de la modista a final del segle XIX: de la producció anònima a l'etiqueta

Resum:En aquest article s'analitza la producció del vestit a la ciutat de Barcelona en un moment de canvi social i econòmic (final del segle XIX - inici del segle XX). S'hi estudien els factors que permeteren el reconeixement dels autors mitjançant l'etiquetatge de les peces, tot traçant les línies generals de l'evolució professional de la figura de la modista.Resumen:Aproximación a la figura de la modista a finales del siglo XIX: de la producción anónima a la etiquetaEn este artículo se analiza la producción de vestidos en la ciudad de Barcelona en un momento de cambio social y económico (final del siglo XIX - principio del siglo XX). Definició de dues tipologies de vestit a través del seu ús històric: la indumentària d'arrel tradicional i el vestit d'inspiració internacional

Resum:En aquest article s’estudia el vestit a través del seu ús històric per tal de definir-ne dues tipologies. A través d’una reflexió sobre les diferències entre el vestit i la moda, es defineixen dos grans grups d’indumentària: la indumentària tradicional i el vestit d’inspiració internacional. Tot i que aquest treball se centra en les col·leccions catalanes, la perspectiva d’estudi proposada pot servir per observar peces de geografies diverses.Resumen:Definición de dos tipologías de vestido a través de su uso histórico: indumentaria de raíz tradicional y vestido de inspiración internacionalEn este artículo se estudia el vestido a través de su uso histórico para conseguir definir dos tipologías. A través de una reflexión sobre las diferencias entre el vestido y la moda, se definen dos grandes grupos de indumentaria: la indumentaria tradicional y el vestido de inspiración internacional. Gust i consum d'imatge al segle XIX: el vestit

Resum:Aquest article estudia el concepte “gust” amb l’objectiu de compilar una breu llista d’aspectes, trets i característiques que formin un corpus estètic propi en el qual poder incloure el consum de moda. El gust és variant i dinàmic en essència i implica una relació estreta amb el lloc i el moment. La filosofia del gust es desenvolupà de manera molt intensa al llarg del segle XIX, donant lloc a tota una industria de les arts aplicades que, a diferència de les grans estètiques, impulsaren al consum d’objectes. En aquest article s’estudia, doncs, el procés pel qual el gust prengué protagonisme en el desenvolupament del mercat i ho fa a través d’un cas concret: la moda.Resumen:Gusto y consumo de imagen en el siglo XIX: el vestidoEste artículo estudia el concepto “gusto” con el objetivo de compilar una breve lista de aspectos, rasgos y características que formen un corpus estético propio en el que poder incluir el consumo de moda. El gusto es variable y dinámico en esencia e implica una relación estrecha con el lugar y el momento. La filosofía del gusto se desarrolló de forma muy intensa a lo largo del siglo XIX, dando lugar a toda una industria de las artes aplicadas que, a diferencia de las grandes estéticas, impulsaron un nuevo consumo de objetos. En este artículo se estudia, por lo tanto, el proceso por el cual el gusto tomó protagonismo en el desarrollo del mercado y lo hace a través de un caso concreto: la moda.Abstract:Taste and image consumption in the 19th. century: clothingThis paper focuses on the concept of “taste” with the aim of elaborating a short list of traits and characteristics that make part of an own aesthetic corpus where we can include the consumption of fashion. This taste is dynamic and variable and has a direct relationship with the context. The philosophy of taste was intensively developed throughout the 19th century, producing a decorative arts industry, which motivated a new consumption of objects. This is why this paper studies the process through which taste became the main character of the market development, and it did it through fashion

Juxtaposing BTE and ATE – on the role of the European insurance industry in funding civil litigation

One of the ways in which legal services are financed, and indeed shaped, is through private insurance arrangement. Two contrasting types of legal expenses insurance contracts (LEI) seem to dominate in Europe: before the event (BTE) and after the event (ATE) legal expenses insurance. Notwithstanding institutional differences between different legal systems, BTE and ATE insurance arrangements may be instrumental if government policy is geared towards strengthening a market-oriented system of financing access to justice for individuals and business. At the same time, emphasizing the role of a private industry as a keeper of the gates to justice raises issues of accountability and transparency, not readily reconcilable with demands of competition. Moreover, multiple actors (clients, lawyers, courts, insurers) are involved, causing behavioural dynamics which are not easily predicted or influenced. Against this background, this paper looks into BTE and ATE arrangements by analysing the particularities of BTE and ATE arrangements currently available in some European jurisdictions and by painting a picture of their respective markets and legal contexts. This allows for some reflection on the performance of BTE and ATE providers as both financiers and keepers. Two issues emerge from the analysis that are worthy of some further reflection. Firstly, there is the problematic long-term sustainability of some ATE products. Secondly, the challenges faced by policymakers that would like to nudge consumers into voluntarily taking out BTE LEI

Search for stop and higgsino production using diphoton Higgs boson decays

Results are presented of a search for a "natural" supersymmetry scenario with gauge mediated symmetry breaking. It is assumed that only the supersymmetric partners of the top-quark (stop) and the Higgs boson (higgsino) are accessible. Events are examined in which there are two photons forming a Higgs boson candidate, and at least two b-quark jets. In 19.7 inverse femtobarns of proton-proton collision data at sqrt(s) = 8 TeV, recorded in the CMS experiment, no evidence of a signal is found and lower limits at the 95% confidence level are set, excluding the stop mass below 360 to 410 GeV, depending on the higgsino mass
