Geopolitics of transport infrastructures in the cross-border Catalan-French space. Criticalities and challenges of the European project

Al voltant d’un 30 % de la població de la Unió Europea viu en regions frontereres internes entre estats. De tots és sabut que un sistema de transports és un potent instrument estructurador de l’espai i als espais transfronterers aquesta relació és encara més pregona. Un bon sistema de transports entre ter­ritoris fronterers pot ajudar a reduir les externalitats negatives. A aquesta argumentació, se n’hi suma una altra: uns bons serveis (ferroviaris, en aquest cas) permetrien combatre de manera més eficaç el canvi climàtic i incidir en la descarbonització dels transports a Europa. En relació amb tot açò, observem que el procés de construcció europea està posant les bases per a una cooperació més intensa en alguns dels àmbits esmentats, concretament en el transport transfronterer entre Catalunya i França. Nous pro­cessos permeten presentar un panorama encoratjador, o almenys esperançador, del futur.Around 30 % of the European Union’s population lives in internal border regions between states. It is common knowledge that a transport system is a powerful instrument with which to structure space, and in cross-border regions this is even more pronounced, given that a good transport system between bor­derlands can help reduce negative externalities. This argument in favour of such a system runs in par­allel to another: good services (rail services, in this case) would enable climate change to be more effec­tively combated and would help to decarbonise transport in Europe. In this regard, the process of European construction is laying the groundwork for more intense cooperation in some of these spheres, specifically cross-border transport between Catalonia and France. New processes reveal encouraging or at least hopeful prospects for the future

Gadamer on Strauss (1981). Supplement to "Correspondence around Truth and Method"

Presentem la traducció en llengua catalana de l’entrevista concedida per Hans- Georg Gadamer a Ernest Fortin sobre Leo Strauss (1981). El document és un suplement a les principals fonts per al coneixement de la relació intel·lectual mantinguda entre els dos filòsofs alemanys: la «Correspondència al voltant de Wahrheit und Methode» (1961), i l’estudi «Hermeneutik und Historismus», annex a la segona edició de la cèlebre obra de Gadamer (1965). La traducció de l’entrevista ve introduïda per 1) un repàs a les evidències textuals així com a les principals fites en què cal situar la seva relació, 2) una presentació del context en què tingué lloc l’entrevista i la significació de les altres figures acadèmiques que hi varen contribuir, així com 3) un índex de les qüestions que Gadamer tracta en el decurs de la interlocució.We are presenting a translation in Catalan of the interview once given by Hans- Georg Gadamer on Leo Strauss and conducted by Ernest Fortin (1981). The document provides with a supplement to the main sources available to know about the intellectual relationship the two German philosophers had: the «Correspondence concerning Wahr­heit und Methode» (1961), and the essay «Hermeneutik und Historismus», an appendix included in the second edition of the most celebrated of Gadamer’s works (1965). The interview is here introduced by 1) a review of the existing textual evidences as well as the key episodes of the relationship, 2) the interview’s background and the significance of the other scholars who contributed to it, and finally 3) an index of the topics covered by Gadamer in the conversation
