A study of the Gribov copies in linear covariant gauges in Euclidean Yang-Mills theories
The Gribov copies and their consequences on the infrared behavior of the
gluon propagator are investigated in Euclidean Yang-Mills theories quantized in
linear covariant gauges. Considering small values of the gauge parameter, it
turns out that the transverse component of the gluon propagator is suppressed,
while its longitudinal part is left unchanged. A Green function, G_{tr}, which
displays infrared enhancement and which reduces to the ghost propagator in the
Landau gauge is identified. The inclusion of the dimension two gluon condensate
is also considered. In this case, the transverse component of the gluon
propagator and the Green function G_{tr} remain suppressed and enhanced,
respectively. Moreover, the longitudinal part of the gluon propagator becomes
suppressed. A comparison with the results obtained from the studies of the
Schwinger-Dyson equations and from lattice simulations is provided.Comment: 20 page
Two-Parton Contribution to the Heavy-Quark Forward-Backward Asymmetry in NNLO QCD
Forward-backward asymmetries, , are important observables for the
determination of the neutral-current couplings of heavy quarks in inclusive
heavy quark production, . In view of the
measurement perspectives on at a future linear collider, precise
predictions of are required for massive quarks. We compute the
contribution of the final state to to order \as^2 in
the QCD coupling. We provide general formulae, and we show that this
contribution to is infrared-finite. We evaluate these two-parton
contributions for and quarks on and near the resonance, and for
quarks above threshold. Moreover, near the threshold we obtain, by
expanding in the heavy-quark velocity , an expression for to order \as^2 and NNLL in . This quantity is equal, to this

Two-loop QCD Corrections to the Heavy Quark Form Factors: the Vector Contributions
We present closed analytic expressions of the electromagnetic vertex form
factors for heavy quarks at the two-loop level in QCD for arbitrary momentum
transfer. The calculation is carried out in dimensional regularization. The
electric and magnetic form factors are expressed in terms of 1-dimensional

Macromolecular crowding links ribosomal protein gene dosage to growth rate in Vibrio cholerae
In fast-growing bacteria, the genomic location of ribosomal protein (RP) genes is biased towards the replication origin (oriC). This trait allows optimizing their expression during exponential phase since oriC neighboring regions are in higher dose due to multifork replication. Relocation of s10-spc-α locus (S10), which codes for most of the RP, to ectopic genomic positions shows that its relative distance to the oriC correlates to a reduction on its dosage, its expression, and bacterial growth rate. However, a mechanism linking S10 dosage to cell physiology has still not been determined.We hypothesized that S10 dosage perturbations impact protein synthesis capacity. Strikingly, we observed that in Vibrio cholerae, protein production capacity was independent of S10 position. Deep sequencing revealed that S10 relocation altered chromosomal replication dynamics and genome-wide transcription. Such changes increased as a function of oriC-S10 distance. Since RP constitutes a large proportion of cell mass, lower S10 dosage could lead to changes in macromolecular crowding, impacting cell physiology. Accordingly, cytoplasm fluidity was higher in mutants where S10 is most distant from oriC. In hyperosmotic conditions, when crowding differences are minimized, the growth rate and replication dynamics were highly alleviated in these strains.The genomic location of RP genes ensures its optimal dosage. However, besides of its essential function in translation, their genomic position sustains an optimal macromolecular crowding essential for maximizing growth. Alarming low physical activity levels in Chilean adults with disabilities during COVID-19 pandemic: a representative national survey analysis
BackgroundPeople with disabilities usually face barriers to regularly engaging in physical activities. Estimating physical activity patterns are necessary to elaborate policies and strategies to facilitate active lifestyles, considering the particular access difficulties experienced by this population.PurposeThis study aimed (i) to describe the prevalence of physical activity levels and (ii) to examine the associations of physical activity levels with socio-demographic variables and type of disability in the 2020 Chilean National Physical Activity and Sports Habits in Populations with Disabilities (CNPASHPwD) survey during the coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19) pandemic.MethodsCross-sectional data from 3,150 adults (18–99 years old), 59.8% female, were analyzed from November to December 2020. Self-reported age, gender, type of disability (i.e., physical, visual, hearing, intellectual, or mixed), socio-economic status, area and zone of residence, and physical activity levels (0 min/week, < 150 min/week, ≥ 150 min/week) were obtained.Results11.9% of the participants were classified as active (≥ 150 min/week), and 62.6% declared no involvement in physical activity. A larger proportion of females (61.7%) did not meet the current guidelines (≥ 150 min/week of physical activity) in comparison with males (p < 0.001). Participants with visual and hearing disabilities were more likely to be active than those with other types of disabilities. Those living in the central and southern regions of Chile were more likely to be physically active than those from the northern region. Also, older participants, women, and those from lower socio-economic statuses were less likely to meet the physical activity guidelines.ConclusionAlarmingly, nine out of ten participants were categorized as physically inactive, particularly women, older adults, and those with a low socioeconomic status. If the pandemic context moderated, the considerable prevalence of reduced physical activity levels deserves future exploration. Health promotion initiatives should consider these aspects, emphasizing inclusive environments and increasing opportunities to favor healthy behaviors, countering the COVID-19 effects
Measurement of the Lifetime of the Tau Lepton
The tau lepton lifetime is measured with the L3 detector at LEP using the
complete data taken at centre-of-mass energies around the Z pole resulting in
tau_tau = 293.2 +/- 2.0 (stat) +/- 1.5 (syst) fs. The comparison of this result
with the muon lifetime supports lepton universality of the weak charged current
at the level of six per mille. Assuming lepton universality, the value of the
strong coupling constant, alpha_s is found to be alpha_s(m_tau^2) = 0.319 +/-
0.015(exp.) +/- 0.014 (theory)
Precise measurement of the W-boson mass with the CDF II detector
We have measured the W-boson mass MW using data corresponding to 2.2/fb of
integrated luminosity collected in proton-antiproton collisions at 1.96 TeV
with the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. Samples consisting
of 470126 W->enu candidates and 624708 W->munu candidates yield the measurement
MW = 80387 +- 12 (stat) +- 15 (syst) = 80387 +- 19 MeV. This is the most
precise measurement of the W-boson mass to date and significantly exceeds the
precision of all previous measurements combined
Measurement of the Tau Branching Fractions into Leptons
Using data collected with the L3 detector near the Z resonance, corresponding
to an integrated luminosity of 150pb-1, the branching fractions of the tau
lepton into electron and muon are measured to be
B(tau->e nu nu) = (17.806 +- 0.104 (stat.) +- 0.076 (syst.)) %,
B(tau->mu nu nu) = (17.342 +- 0.110 (stat.) +- 0.067 (syst.)) %.
From these results the ratio of the charged current coupling constants of the
muon and the electron is determined to be g_mu/g_e = 1.0007 +- 0.0051. Assuming
electron-muon universality, the Fermi constant is measured in tau lepton decays
as G_F = (1.1616 +- 0.0058) 10^{-5} GeV^{-2}. Furthermore, the coupling
constant of the strong interaction at the tau mass scale is obtained as
alpha_s(m_tau^2) = 0.322 +- 0.009 (exp.) +- 0.015 (theory)

México ha vivido un largo proceso de transición que ha desencadenado dinamismos económicos, culturales y políticos. En la actual coyuntura, estos dinamismos muestran toda su complejidad, su inevitable articulación y la tensión entre las fuerzas que intentan sostener un viejo modelo de gobernar y decidir el rumbo del país, y aquellas que buscan abrirse a un espectro mucho más amplio y diversificado de actores. En ellos se conjuntan las aspiraciones más legítimas de los mexicanos por avanzar en el reconocimiento y respeto de la pluralidad étnica, de género y entre generaciones, y por impulsar una dinámica en la que —en medio de los procesos de mundialización— los distintos grupos e intereses de los mexicanos puedan ser incluidos. La transición mexicana tiende a centrarse en la dimensión política. La intensidad que cobran los procesos políticos y el énfasis que importantes analistas ponen en dichos procesos, contribuyen a que esta asociación vaya cobrandoíuerza. En este sentido, es necesario advertir que en las transiciones la tendencia privatizadora, la reducción del gasto social, así como la necesidad de pactos sociales que sean respetados, la participación creciente de la sociedad civil, etc. son factores importantes que, en medio de contradicciones, van generando nuevos esquemas de relación entre gobierno y sociedad.ITESO, A.C
Search for New Physics with Jets and Missing Transverse Momentum in pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV
A search for new physics is presented based on an event signature of at least
three jets accompanied by large missing transverse momentum, using a data
sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36 inverse picobarns
collected in proton--proton collisions at sqrt(s)=7 TeV with the CMS detector
at the LHC. No excess of events is observed above the expected standard model
backgrounds, which are all estimated from the data. Exclusion limits are
presented for the constrained minimal supersymmetric extension of the standard
model. Cross section limits are also presented using simplified models with new
particles decaying to an undetected particle and one or two jets
