q-Quaternions and q-deformed su(2) instantons
We construct (anti)instanton solutions of a would-be q-deformed su(2)
Yang-Mills theory on the quantum Euclidean space R_q^4 [the SO_q(4)-covariant
noncommutative space] by reinterpreting the function algebra on the latter as a
q-quaternion bialgebra. Since the (anti)selfduality equations are covariant
under the quantum group of deformed rotations, translations and scale change,
by applying the latter we can generate new solutions from the one centered at
the origin and with unit size. We also construct multi-instanton solutions. As
they depend on noncommuting parameters playing the roles of `sizes' and
`coordinates of the centers' of the instantons, this indicates that the moduli
space of a complete theory will be a noncommutative manifold. Similarly, gauge
transformations should be allowed to depend on additional noncommutative

Duality and Braiding in Twisted Quantum Field Theory
We re-examine various issues surrounding the definition of twisted quantum
field theories on flat noncommutative spaces. We propose an interpretation
based on nonlocal commutative field redefinitions which clarifies previously
observed properties such as the formal equivalence of Green's functions in the
noncommutative and commutative theories, causality, and the absence of UV/IR
mixing. We use these fields to define the functional integral formulation of
twisted quantum field theory. We exploit techniques from braided tensor algebra
to argue that the twisted Fock space states of these free fields obey
conventional statistics. We support our claims with a detailed analysis of the
modifications induced in the presence of background magnetic fields, which
induces additional twists by magnetic translation operators and alters the
effective noncommutative geometry seen by the twisted quantum fields. When two
such field theories are dual to one another, we demonstrate that only our

Noncommutative Spheres and Instantons
We report on some recent work on deformation of spaces, notably deformation
of spheres, describing two classes of examples. The first class of examples
consists of noncommutative manifolds associated with the so called
-deformations which were introduced out of a simple analysis in terms
of cycles in the -complex of cyclic homology. These examples have
non-trivial global features and can be endowed with a structure of
noncommutative manifolds, in terms of a spectral triple (\ca, \ch, D). In
particular, noncommutative spheres are isospectral
deformations of usual spherical geometries. For the corresponding spectral
triple (\cinf(S^{N}_\theta), \ch, D), both the Hilbert space of spinors \ch=
L^2(S^{N},\cs) and the Dirac operator are the usual ones on the
commutative -dimensional sphere and only the algebra and its action
on are deformed. The second class of examples is made of the so called
quantum spheres which are homogeneous spaces of quantum orthogonal
and quantum unitary groups. For these spheres, there is a complete description
of -theory, in terms of nontrivial self-adjoint idempotents (projections)
and unitaries, and of the -homology, in term of nontrivial Fredholm modules,
as well as of the corresponding Chern characters in cyclic homology and

Heavy Quark Free Energies and Screening in SU(2) Gauge Theory
We investigate the singlet, triplet and colour average heavy quark free
energies in SU(2) pure gauge theory at various temperatures T. We focus on the
long distance behaviour of the free energies, studying in particular the
temperature dependence of the string tension and the screening masses. The
results are qualitatively similar to the SU(3) scenario, except near the
critical temperature Tc of the deconfining transition. Finally we test a

Anisotropic flow of charged hadrons, pions and (anti-)protons measured at high transverse momentum in Pb-Pb collisions at TeV
The elliptic, , triangular, , and quadrangular, , azimuthal
anisotropic flow coefficients are measured for unidentified charged particles,
pions and (anti-)protons in Pb-Pb collisions at TeV
with the ALICE detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Results obtained with the
event plane and four-particle cumulant methods are reported for the
pseudo-rapidity range at different collision centralities and as a
function of transverse momentum, , out to GeV/.
The observed non-zero elliptic and triangular flow depends only weakly on
transverse momentum for GeV/. The small dependence
of the difference between elliptic flow results obtained from the event plane
and four-particle cumulant methods suggests a common origin of flow
fluctuations up to GeV/. The magnitude of the (anti-)proton
elliptic and triangular flow is larger than that of pions out to at least
GeV/ indicating that the particle type dependence persists out

Centrality dependence of charged particle production at large transverse momentum in Pb-Pb collisions at TeV
The inclusive transverse momentum () distributions of primary
charged particles are measured in the pseudo-rapidity range as a
function of event centrality in Pb-Pb collisions at
TeV with ALICE at the LHC. The data are presented in the range
GeV/ for nine centrality intervals from 70-80% to 0-5%.
The Pb-Pb spectra are presented in terms of the nuclear modification factor
using a pp reference spectrum measured at the same collision
energy. We observe that the suppression of high- particles strongly
depends on event centrality. In central collisions (0-5%) the yield is most
suppressed with at -7 GeV/. Above
GeV/, there is a significant rise in the nuclear modification
factor, which reaches for GeV/. In
peripheral collisions (70-80%), the suppression is weaker with almost independently of . The measured nuclear

Measurement of charm production at central rapidity in proton-proton collisions at TeV
The -differential production cross sections of the prompt (B
feed-down subtracted) charmed mesons D, D, and D in the rapidity
range , and for transverse momentum GeV/, were
measured in proton-proton collisions at TeV with the ALICE
detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The analysis exploited the hadronic
decays DK, DK, DD, and their charge conjugates, and was performed on a
nb event sample collected in 2011 with a
minimum-bias trigger. The total charm production cross section at TeV and at 7 TeV was evaluated by extrapolating to the full phase space
the -differential production cross sections at TeV
and our previous measurements at TeV. The results were compared
to existing measurements and to perturbative-QCD calculations. The fraction of

Particle-yield modification in jet-like azimuthal di-hadron correlations in Pb-Pb collisions at = 2.76 TeV
The yield of charged particles associated with high- trigger
particles ( GeV/) is measured with the ALICE detector in
Pb-Pb collisions at = 2.76 TeV relative to proton-proton
collisions at the same energy. The conditional per-trigger yields are extracted
from the narrow jet-like correlation peaks in azimuthal di-hadron correlations.
In the 5% most central collisions, we observe that the yield of associated
charged particles with transverse momenta GeV/ on the
away-side drops to about 60% of that observed in pp collisions, while on the
