Holographic dark energy with time varying parameter
We consider the holographic dark energy model in which the model parameter
evolves slowly with time. First we calculate the evolution of EoS
parameter as well as the deceleration parameter in this generalized version of
holographic dark energy (GHDE). Depending on the parameter , the phantom
regime can be achieved earlier or later compare with original version of
holographic dark energy. The evolution of energy density of GHDE model is
investigated in terms of parameter . We also show that the time-dependency
of can effect on the transition epoch from decelerated phase to
accelerated expansion. Finally, we perform the statefinder diagnostic for GHDE
model and show that the evolutionary trajectories of the model in plane

Statefinder diagnostic and stability of modified gravity consistent with holographic and new agegraphic dark energy
Recently one of us derived the action of modified gravity consistent with the
holographic and new-agegraphic dark energy. In this paper, we investigate the
stability of the Lagrangians of the modified gravity as discussed in [M. R.
Setare, Int. J. Mod. Phys. D 17 (2008) 2219; M. R. Setare, Astrophys. Space
Sci. 326 (2010) 27]. We also calculate the statefinder parameters which

Cosmological evolution and statefinder diagnostic for new holographic dark energy model in non flat universe
In this paper, the holographic dark energy model with new infrared cut-off
proposed by Granda and Oliveros has been investigated in spatially non flat
universe. The dependency of the evolution of equation of state, deceleration
parameter and cosmological evolution of Hubble parameter on the parameters of
new HDE model are calculated. Also, the statefinder parameters and in
this model are derived and the evolutionary trajectories in plane are
plotted. We show that the evolutionary trajectories are dependent on the model
parameters of new HDE model. Eventually, in the light of SNe+BAO+OHD+CMB
observational data, we plot the evolutionary trajectories in and

Holographic \Lambda(t)CDM model in a non-flat universe
The holographic CDM model in a non-flat universe is studied in
this paper. In this model, to keep the form of the stress-energy of the vacuum
required by general covariance, the holographic vacuum is enforced to exchange
energy with dark matter. It is demonstrated that for the holographic model the
best choice for the IR cutoff of the effective quantum field theory is the
event horizon size of the universe. We derive the evolution equations of the
holographic CDM model in a non-flat universe. We constrain the
model by using the current observational data, including the 557 Union2 type Ia
supernovae data, the cosmic microwave background anisotropy data from the 7-yr
WMAP, and the baryon acoustic oscillation data from the SDSS. Our fit results
show that the holographic CDM model tends to favor a spatially
closed universe (the best-fit value of is -0.042), and the 95%
confidence level range for the spatial curvature is .
We show that the interaction between the holographic vacuum and dark matter
induces an energy flow of which the direction is first from vacuum to dark
matter and then from dark matter to vacuum. Thus, the holographic
CDM model is just a time-varying vacuum energy scenario in which
the interaction between vacuum and dark matter changes sign during the

Holographic dilatonic model of dark energy
We present a dilatonic description of the holographic dark energy by
connecting the holographic dark energy density with the dilaton scalar field
energy density in a flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker universe. We show that this
model can describe the observed accelerated expansion of our universe with the
choice and reconstruct the kinetic term as well as the dynamics of the

Global, regional, and national age-sex-specific mortality and life expectancy, 1950–2017: a systematic analysis for the Global Burden of Disease Study 2017
BACKGROUND:
Assessments of age-specific mortality and life expectancy have been done by the UN Population Division, Department of Economics and Social Affairs (UNPOP), the United States Census Bureau, WHO, and as part of previous iterations of the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study (GBD). Previous iterations of the GBD used population estimates from UNPOP, which were not derived in a way that was internally consistent with the estimates of the numbers of deaths in the GBD. The present iteration of the GBD, GBD 2017, improves on previous assessments and provides timely estimates of the mortality experience of populations globally.
METHODS:
The GBD uses all available data to produce estimates of mortality rates between 1950 and 2017 for 23 age groups, both sexes, and 918 locations, including 195 countries and territories and subnational locations for 16 countries. Data used include vital registration systems, sample registration systems, household surveys (complete birth histories, summary birth histories, sibling histories), censuses (summary birth histories, household deaths), and Demographic Surveillance Sites. In total, this analysis used 8259 data sources. Estimates of the probability of death between birth and the age of 5 years and between ages 15 and 60 years are generated and then input into a model life table system to produce complete life tables for all locations and years. Fatal discontinuities and mortality due to HIV/AIDS are analysed separately and then incorporated into the estimation. We analyse the relationship between age-specific mortality and development status using the Socio-demographic Index, a composite measure based on fertility under the age of 25 years, education, and income. There are four main methodological improvements in GBD 2017 compared with GBD 2016: 622 additional data sources have been incorporated; new estimates of population, generated by the GBD study, are used; statistical methods used in different components of the analysis have been further standardised and improved; and the analysis has been extended backwards in time by two decades to start in 1950.
FINDINGS:
Globally, 18·7% (95% uncertainty interval 18·4–19·0) of deaths were registered in 1950 and that proportion has been steadily increasing since, with 58·8% (58·2–59·3) of all deaths being registered in 2015. At the global level, between 1950 and 2017, life expectancy increased from 48·1 years (46·5–49·6) to 70·5 years (70·1–70·8) for men and from 52·9 years (51·7–54·0) to 75·6 years (75·3–75·9) for women. Despite this overall progress, there remains substantial variation in life expectancy at birth in 2017, which ranges from 49·1 years (46·5–51·7) for men in the Central African Republic to 87·6 years (86·9–88·1) among women in Singapore. The greatest progress across age groups was for children younger than 5 years; under-5 mortality dropped from 216·0 deaths (196·3–238·1) per 1000 livebirths in 1950 to 38·9 deaths (35·6–42·83) per 1000 livebirths in 2017, with huge reductions across countries. Nevertheless, there were still 5·4 million (5·2–5·6) deaths among children younger than 5 years in the world in 2017. Progress has been less pronounced and more variable for adults, especially for adult males, who had stagnant or increasing mortality rates in several countries. The gap between male and female life expectancy between 1950 and 2017, while relatively stable at the global level, shows distinctive patterns across super-regions and has consistently been the largest in central Europe, eastern Europe, and central Asia, and smallest in south Asia. Performance was also variable across countries and time in observed mortality rates compared with those expected on the basis of development.
INTERPRETATION:
This analysis of age-sex-specific mortality shows that there are remarkably complex patterns in population mortality across countries. The findings of this study highlight global successes, such as the large decline in under-5 mortality, which reflects significant local, national, and global commitment and investment over several decades. However, they also bring attention to mortality patterns that are a cause for concern, particularly among adult men and, to a lesser extent, women, whose mortality rates have stagnated in many countries over the time period of this study, and in some cases are increasing
Diffusion-controlled crystal growth in deeply undercooled Zr50Cu50 melt on approaching the glass transition
Crystal-growth velocity in metallic melts has been reported by others to increase monotonically with undercooling. Nevertheless, such an observation is not predicted by conventional growth theory. In this work, the metallic melt of Zr50Cu50 is studied to address the problem by measuring the growth velocity over a wide range of undercooling up to 325 K. A maximum growth velocity is observed at an undercooling of 200 K instead of the monotonic increase reported in the literature. We find that the planar or dendrite growth theories can explain the value of the maximum growth velocity, but the predicted location of the maximum in undercooling is far less than that seen by experiment. With the assistance of current results, a general pattern of crystal growth is established for melts of a variety of substances, where all sluggish crystal-growth kinetics is explained by the diffusion-controlled mechanism at deep undercooling
Effects of oregano essential oil as an antibiotic growth promoter alternative on growth performance, antioxidant status, and intestinal health of broilers
ABSTRACT: This experiment was conducted to assess the comparative effects of dietary antibiotics and oregano essential oil (OEO) addition on growth performance, antioxidant status and intestinal health of broilers. A total of 384 one-day-old broilers were randomly allocated to 4 treatments with 6 replicates of 16 broilers each. The 4 treatments were: an antibiotic-free control diet (control), control + 20 mg/kg colistin sulfate and 20 mg/kg virginiamycin (antibiotics), control + 200 mg/kg natural oregano essential oil (NOEO), and control + 200 mg/kg synthetic oregano essential oil (SOEO). The experiment lasted for 42 d. Results showed that birds fed with OEO had greater (P < 0.05) average daily gain (ADG) and lower (P < 0.05) feed conversion ratio (FCR) than those fed with control diet during d 1 to 21. Besides, birds fed with NOEO had the greatest (P < 0.05) ADG in the four groups during d 22 to 42. The serum oxidative stress parameters showed that OEO improved (P < 0.05) the activities of glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione reductase (GR) of birds on day 21 and the activity of total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC) of birds on d 42. Relative to control, NOEO increased (P < 0.05) the activity of T-AOC in jejunum and decreased (P < 0.05) the level of malondialdehyde (MDA) in serum and jejunum. Moreover, OEO supplementation increased (P < 0.05) the concentrations of sIgA in duodenum and jejunum, Lactobacillus and total anaerobes in cecum, as well as activities of trypsin, chymotrypsin, lipase and amylase in duodenum, but restrained (P < 0.05) the amount of Escherichia coli. The NOEO supplementation increased (P < 0.05) total anaerobes of broilers on d 42 and the villus height to crypt depth ratio (VH/CD) of ileum. These results suggest that OEO improved antioxidant status and intestinal health of broilers which contributed to the growth performance improvement of broilers. Dietary OEO supplementation can be a promising alternative to antibiotic growth promoters for improving poultry production
