Cancellation of Contact Quenching : A Simple Concept for Selective Chemosensing of Basic Fluoride and Acetate Anions
A weakly fluorescent acid-base pair formed by reacting fluorescent acridine orange with the quencher picric acid is reported for the detection of basic fluoride and acetate anions. Deprotonation by these anions causes disengagement of the fluorescent acridine orange from the quencher, picric acid. This phenomenon cancels the quenching existing in the native probe, thereby allowing for the optical signalling of fluoride and acetate anions by color modulation as well fluorescence switch-on response. Anions such as Br-, I-, Cl-, NO3-, SCN-, HSO4-, and H2PO4- offer no detectable interferences even in excess concentrations
A Facile and Convenient Synthesis of some Novel Hydrazones, Schiff’s Base and Pyrazoles Incorporating Thieno[2,3-b]thiophenes
A facile and convenient synthesis of some novel hydrazones, schiff’s base and pyrazoles from thieno[2,3-b]thiophene derivatives 1 have been achieved in high yields assisted by microwave and classical methods. The structures of all the title compounds have been elucidated by elemental analysis, IR, MS, 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR. Generally, these findings represent a new class of sulfur and nitrogen moieties that should also be of interest as new materials

Homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts for multicomponent reactions
[EN] Organic synthesis performed through multicomponent reactions is an attractive area of research in
organic chemistry. Multicomponent reactions involve more than two starting reagents that couple in an
exclusive ordered mode under the same reaction conditions to form a single product which contains the
essential parts of the starting materials. Multicomponent reactions are powerful tools in modern drug
discovery processes, because they are an important source of molecular diversity, allowing rapid,
automated and high throughput generation of organic compounds. This review aims to illustrate
progress in a large variety of catalyzed multicomponent reactions performed with acid, base and metal
heterogeneous and homogeneous catalysts. Within each type of multicomponent approach, relevant
products that can be obtained and their interest for industrial applications are presented. The authors wish to gratefully acknowledge the Generalitat Valenciana for the financial support in the project CONSOLIDER-INGENIO 2010 (CSD2009-00050)Climent Olmedo, MJ.; Corma CanĂłs, A.; Iborra Chornet, S.
