Management of nonregulatory driven program risks
Evaluation of program risk is a significant part of any environmental restoration (ER) activity. While significant efforts have been made to assess risk to human health and the environment, program risks outside of CERCLA are handled on a fire drill basis. This paper explains a process that looks at program risk, directs mitigation efforts in the most useful path, and focuses corrective actions to obtain the most benefits from the resources used
The open-charm radiative and pionic decays of molecular charmonium Y(4274)
In this work, we investigate the decay widths and the line shapes of the
open-charm radiative and pionic decays of Y(4274) with the
molecular charmonium assignment. Our calculation
indicates that the decay widths of and
can reach up to 0.05 keV and 0.75 keV,
respectively. In addition, the result of the line shape of the photon spectrum
of shows that there exists a very sharp
peak near the large end point of photon energy. The line shape of the pion
spectrum of is similar to that of the pion
spectrum of , where we also find a very
sharp peak near the large end point of pion energy. According to our
calculation, we suggest further experiments to carry out the search for the
open-charm radiative and pionic decays of Y(4274).Comment: 7 pages, 6 figures, 1 table. Published versio
K* nucleon hyperon form factors and nucleon strangeness
A crucial input for recent meson hyperon cloud model estimates of the nucleon
matrix element of the strangeness current are the nucleon-hyperon-K* (NYK*)
form factors which regularize some of the arising loops. Prompted by new and
forthcoming information on these form factors from hyperon-nucleon potential
models, we analyze the dependence of the loop model results for the
strange-quark observables on the NYK* form factors and couplings. We find, in
particular, that the now generally favored soft N-Lambda-K* form factors can
reduce the magnitude of the K* contributions in such models by more than an
order of magnitude, compared to previous results with hard form factors. We
also discuss some general implications of our results for hadronic loop models.Comment: 9 pages, 8 figures, new co-author, discussion extended to the

K^* Mesons and Nucleon Strangeness
We study contributions to the nucleon strange quark vector current form
factors from intermediate states containing K^* mesons. We show how these
contributions may be comparable in magnitude to those made by K mesons, using
methods complementary to those employed in quark model studies. We also analyze
the degree of theoretical uncertainty associated with K^* contributions.Comment: 21 pages, RevTex, 2 PS figures included with epsf.st
Measurement of and charged current inclusive cross sections and their ratio with the T2K off-axis near detector
We report a measurement of cross section and the first measurements of the cross section
and their ratio
at (anti-)neutrino energies below 1.5
GeV. We determine the single momentum bin cross section measurements, averaged
over the T2K -flux, for the detector target material (mainly
Carbon, Oxygen, Hydrogen and Copper) with phase space restricted laboratory
frame kinematics of 500 MeV/c. The
results are and $\sigma(\nu)=\left( 2.41\
\pm0.022{\rm{(stat.)}}\pm0.231{\rm (syst.)}\ \right)\times10^{-39}^{2}R\left(\frac{\sigma(\bar{\nu})}{\sigma(\nu)}\right)=
0.373\pm0.012{\rm (stat.)}\pm0.015{\rm (syst.)}$.Comment: 18 pages, 8 figure
Multiplicity distributions at high energies as a sum of Poissonian-like distributions
It is shown that at collider energies experimental multiplicity distributions
are well parameterized by a sum of Gupta-Sarma distributions. This extends
earlier description of the lower energy data by the two parameter sum of
Poissonians. Implications of the proposed parametrization for LHC are
discussed.Comment: 16 pages, Latex, 4 EPS figure
Milk proteins
Milk contains many types of proteins which are classified in two general categories caseins and whey proteins. Due to their nutritional and functional properties milk proteins products are widely used in the food industry. This chapter summarizes the current knowledge on milk protein fraction and their biological properties. The production of the mains protein-enriched products is described. In addition an overview of the current and potential biomedical applications of milk proteins is given.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Search for displaced vertices arising from decays of new heavy particles in 7 TeV pp collisions at ATLAS
We present the results of a search for new, heavy particles that decay at a
significant distance from their production point into a final state containing
charged hadrons in association with a high-momentum muon. The search is
conducted in a pp-collision data sample with a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV
and an integrated luminosity of 33 pb^-1 collected in 2010 by the ATLAS
detector operating at the Large Hadron Collider. Production of such particles
is expected in various scenarios of physics beyond the standard model. We
observe no signal and place limits on the production cross-section of
supersymmetric particles in an R-parity-violating scenario as a function of the
neutralino lifetime. Limits are presented for different squark and neutralino
masses, enabling extension of the limits to a variety of other models.Comment: 8 pages plus author list (20 pages total), 8 figures, 1 table, final
