Observations of the post shock break-out emission of SN 2011dh with XMM-Newton
After the occurrence of the type cIIb SN 2011dh in the nearby spiral galaxy M
51 numerous observations were performed with different telescopes in various
bands ranging from radio to gamma-rays. We analysed the XMM-Newton and Swift
observations taken 3 to 30 days after the SN explosion to study the X-ray
spectrum of SN 2011dh. We extracted spectra from the XMM-Newton observations,
which took place ~7 and 11 days after the SN. In addition, we created
integrated Swift/XRT spectra of 3 to 10 days and 11 to 30 days. The spectra are
well fitted with a power-law spectrum absorbed with Galactic foreground
absorption. In addition, we find a harder spectral component in the first
XMM-Newton spectrum taken at t ~ 7 d. This component is also detected in the
first Swift spectrum of t = 3 - 10 d. While the persistent power-law component
can be explained as inverse Compton emission from radio synchrotron emitting
electrons, the harder component is most likely bremsstrahlung emission from the
shocked stellar wind. Therefore, the harder X-ray emission that fades away
after t ~ 10 d can be interpreted as emission from the shocked circumstellar

Stochastic processes with finite correlation time: modeling and application to the generalized Langevin equation
The kangaroo process (KP) is characterized by various forms of the covariance
and can serve as a useful model of random noises. We discuss properties of that
process for the exponential, stretched exponential and algebraic (power-law)
covariances. Then we apply the KP as a model of noise in the generalized
Langevin equation and simulate solutions by a Monte Carlo method. Some results
appear to be incompatible with requirements of the fluctuation-dissipation
theorem because probability distributions change when the process is inserted
into the equation. We demonstrate how one can construct a model of noise free
of that difficulty. This form of the KP is especially suitable for physical

Solution of the Kwiecinski evolution equations for unintegrated parton distributions using the Mellin transform
The Kwiecinski equations for the QCD evolution of the unintegrated parton
distributions in the transverse-coordinate space (b) are analyzed with the help
of the Mellin-transform method. The equations are solved numerically in the
general case, as well as in a small-b expansion which converges fast for b
Lambda_QCD sufficiently small. We also discuss the asymptotic limit of large bQ
and show that the distributions generated by the evolution decrease with b
according to a power law. Numerical results are presented for the pion
distributions with a simple valence-like initial condition at the low scale,
following from chiral large-N_c quark models. We use two models: the Spectral
Quark Model and the Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model. Formal aspects of the equations,
such as the analytic form of the b-dependent anomalous dimensions, their
analytic structure, as well as the limits of unintegrated parton densities at x
-> 0, x -> 1, and at large b, are discussed in detail. The effect of spreading
of the transverse momentum with the increasing scale is confirmed, with
growing asymptotically as Q^2 alpha(Q^2). Approximate formulas for
for each parton species is given, which may be used in practical

Sub-diffusion and localization in the one dimensional trap model
We study a one dimensional generalization of the exponential trap model using
both numerical simulations and analytical approximations. We obtain the
asymptotic shape of the average diffusion front in the sub-diffusive phase. Our
central result concerns the localization properties. We find the dynamical
participation ratios to be finite, but different from their equilibrium
counterparts. Therefore, the idea of a partial equilibrium within the limited
region of space explored by the walk is not exact, even for long times where
each site is visited a very large number of times. We discuss the physical
origin of this discrepancy, and characterize the full distribution of dynamical
weights. We also study two different two-time correlation functions, which
exhibit different aging properties: one is `sub-aging' whereas the other one
shows `full aging'; therefore two diverging time scales appear in this model.
We give intuitive arguments and simple analytical approximations that account
for these differences, and obtain new predictions for the asymptotic (short
time and long time) behaviour of the scaling functions. Finally, we discuss the

Anisotropic flow of charged hadrons, pions and (anti-)protons measured at high transverse momentum in Pb-Pb collisions at TeV
The elliptic, , triangular, , and quadrangular, , azimuthal
anisotropic flow coefficients are measured for unidentified charged particles,
pions and (anti-)protons in Pb-Pb collisions at TeV
with the ALICE detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Results obtained with the
event plane and four-particle cumulant methods are reported for the
pseudo-rapidity range at different collision centralities and as a
function of transverse momentum, , out to GeV/.
The observed non-zero elliptic and triangular flow depends only weakly on
transverse momentum for GeV/. The small dependence
of the difference between elliptic flow results obtained from the event plane
and four-particle cumulant methods suggests a common origin of flow
fluctuations up to GeV/. The magnitude of the (anti-)proton
elliptic and triangular flow is larger than that of pions out to at least
GeV/ indicating that the particle type dependence persists out

Centrality dependence of charged particle production at large transverse momentum in Pb-Pb collisions at TeV
The inclusive transverse momentum () distributions of primary
charged particles are measured in the pseudo-rapidity range as a
function of event centrality in Pb-Pb collisions at
TeV with ALICE at the LHC. The data are presented in the range
GeV/ for nine centrality intervals from 70-80% to 0-5%.
The Pb-Pb spectra are presented in terms of the nuclear modification factor
using a pp reference spectrum measured at the same collision
energy. We observe that the suppression of high- particles strongly
depends on event centrality. In central collisions (0-5%) the yield is most
suppressed with at -7 GeV/. Above
GeV/, there is a significant rise in the nuclear modification
factor, which reaches for GeV/. In
peripheral collisions (70-80%), the suppression is weaker with almost independently of . The measured nuclear

Measurement of charm production at central rapidity in proton-proton collisions at TeV
The -differential production cross sections of the prompt (B
feed-down subtracted) charmed mesons D, D, and D in the rapidity
range , and for transverse momentum GeV/, were
measured in proton-proton collisions at TeV with the ALICE
detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The analysis exploited the hadronic
decays DK, DK, DD, and their charge conjugates, and was performed on a
nb event sample collected in 2011 with a
minimum-bias trigger. The total charm production cross section at TeV and at 7 TeV was evaluated by extrapolating to the full phase space
the -differential production cross sections at TeV
and our previous measurements at TeV. The results were compared
to existing measurements and to perturbative-QCD calculations. The fraction of

Two-pion Bose-Einstein correlations in central Pb-Pb collisions at = 2.76 TeV
The first measurement of two-pion Bose-Einstein correlations in central Pb-Pb
collisions at TeV at the Large Hadron Collider is
presented. We observe a growing trend with energy now not only for the
longitudinal and the outward but also for the sideward pion source radius. The
pion homogeneity volume and the decoupling time are significantly larger than

Particle-yield modification in jet-like azimuthal di-hadron correlations in Pb-Pb collisions at = 2.76 TeV
The yield of charged particles associated with high- trigger
particles ( GeV/) is measured with the ALICE detector in
Pb-Pb collisions at = 2.76 TeV relative to proton-proton
collisions at the same energy. The conditional per-trigger yields are extracted
from the narrow jet-like correlation peaks in azimuthal di-hadron correlations.
In the 5% most central collisions, we observe that the yield of associated
charged particles with transverse momenta GeV/ on the
away-side drops to about 60% of that observed in pp collisions, while on the
