    Study of the electron trigger efficiency of the CMS Experiment using test beam data

    A study of the electron identification and selection efficiency of the L1 Trigger algorithm has been performed using the combined ECAL/HCAL test beam data. A detailed discussion of the electron isolation and its impact on the selection efficiency is presented. The L1 electron algorithm is studied for different beam energies and the results indicate that efficiencies of 98% or more can be achieved for electrons with energies between 15 and 100 GeV. The fraction of charged hadrons with energies from 3 up to 100 GeV rejected by the L1 electron trigger algorithm is estimated to be larger than 93%.Comment: 22 pages, 14 figure

    Organizational culture and partner interaction in the management of international joint ventures in India

    Full text link
    Different from previous research that focused on the formation phase of partnering processes in joint ventures, this study focuses on the post-formation phase and argues that partner interaction processes of communication, cooperation, and conflict resolution play a key role in the implementation and management of joint ventures. We examine how organizational culture differences (OCD) and integration acculturation strategy (IAS) affect international joint venture (IJV) performance through the mediation of partner interaction processes. We develop hypotheses and test them by survey data from 202 executives of IJVs in India. The results suggest that the interaction processes fully mediate the negative effect of OCD but partially mediate the positive effect of IAS on partners¿ satisfaction with the joint venture performance. We discuss the implication of these findings for research and practice on post-formation management of IJVsDamanpour, F.; Devece Carañana, CA.; Chen, CC.; Pothukuchi, V. (2012). Early internationalizing firms: 2004\u20132018

    No full text
    The literature on early internationalization has evolved rapidly in the last few decades. Firms that achieve early and rapid internationalization have emerged as newcomers in the international arena. Disclosed in the late 1980s, international new ventures and born globals today are well known by academics, practitioners, and policymakers. However, the rapid evolution of literature on this topic has produced a considerable corpus of articles in just a few years, discouraging the realization of iterative and thematic analyses. Existing reviews have analyzed the first decade of research or some peculiar aspects of early internationalizing firms or have been focused on the wider international entrepreneurship domain. This article complements previous studies by reviewing the literature on early internationalizing firms over the years 2004\u20132018. The authors develop a systematic review of 280 studies investigating born globals, international new ventures, and early internationalizing firms that were published in leading journals in the field of international entrepreneurship. The goals of the review are as follows: to describe the state of the art of the literature on early internationalizing firms, to identify the themes that recurred during this period, and to highlight trends and future research perspectives in the field. As one of the implications, this study aims at serving as a summary and starting point for scholars and practitioners interested in early interna- tionalization phenomenon

    A search for pair production of third-generation scalar leptoquarks and supersymmetric top quark partners, top squarks, in final states involving τ\tau leptons and bottom quarks is presented. The search uses events from a data sample of proton-proton collisions corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb1^{-1} collected with the CMS detector at the LHC with s\sqrt{s} =8 TeV. The number of observed events is found to be in agreement with the expected standard model background. Third-generation scalar leptoquarks with masses below 740 GeV are excluded at 95% confidence level, assuming a 100% branching fraction for the leptoquark decay to a τ\tau lepton and a bottom quark. In addition, this mass limit applies directly to top squarks decaying via an R-parity violating coupling λ333\lambda^{\prime}_{333}. The search also considers a similar signature from top squarks undergoing a chargino-mediated decay involving the R-parity violating coupling λ3jk\lambda^{\prime}_{3jk}. Each top squark decays to a τ\tau lepton, a bottom quark, and two light quarks. Top squarks in this model with masses below 580 GeV are excluded at 95% confidence level. The constraint on the leptoquark mass is the most stringent to date, and this is the first search for top squarks decaying via λ3jk\lambda^{\prime}_{3jk}
