Prospective Analysis Spin- and CP-sensitive Variables in H -> ZZ -> l_1 l_1 l_2 l_2 with Atlas
A possibility to prove spin and CP-eigenvalue of a Standard Model (SM) Higgs
boson is presented. We exploit angular correlations in the subsequent decay H
-> ZZ -> 4l (muons or electrons) for Higgs masses above 200 GeV. We compare the
angular distributions of the leptons originating from the SM Higgs with those
resulting from decays of hypothetical particles with differing quantum numbers.
We restrict our analysis to the use of the Atlas-detector which is one of two
multi-purpose detectors at the upcoming 14 TeV proton-proton-collider (LHC) at
CERN. By applying a fast simulation of the Atlas detector it can be shown that
these correlations will be measured sufficiently well that consistency with the
spin-CP hypothesis 0+ of the Standard Model can be verified and the 0- and 1+-
can be ruled out with an integrated luminosity of 100 fb^-1.Comment: 25 pages, 9 figures Version 2: Minor changes made as requested by

A Fast Track towards the `Higgs' Spin and Parity
The LHC experiments ATLAS and CMS have discovered a new boson that resembles
the long-sought Higgs boson: it cannot have spin one, and has couplings to
other particles that increase with their masses, but the spin and parity remain
to be determined. We show here that the `Higgs' + gauge boson invariant-mass
distribution in `Higgs'-strahlung events at the Tevatron or the LHC would be
very different under the J^P = 0+, 0- and 2+ hypotheses, and could provide a
fast-track indicator of the `Higgs' spin and parity. Our analysis is based on
simulations of the experimental event selections and cuts using PYTHIA and
Delphes, and incorporates statistical samples of `toy' experiments.Comment: 18 pages, 9 pdf figure
Improving the sensitivity of Higgs boson searches in the golden channel
Leptonic decays of the Higgs boson in the ZZ* channel yield what is known as
the golden channel due to its clean signature and good total invariant mass
resolution. In addition, the full kinematic distribution of the decay products
can be reconstructed, which, nonetheless, is not taken into account in
traditional search strategy relying only on measurements of the total invariant
mass. In this work we implement a type of multivariate analysis known as the
matrix element method, which exploits differences in the full production and
decay matrix elements between the Higgs boson and the dominant irreducible
background from q bar{q} -> ZZ*. Analytic expressions of the differential
distributions for both the signal and the background are also presented. We
perform a study for the Large Hadron Collider at sqrt{s}=7 TeV for Higgs masses
between 175 and 350 GeV. We find that, with an integrated luminosity of 2.5
fb^-1 or higher, improvements in the order of 10 - 20 % could be obtained for
both discovery significance and exclusion limits in the high mass region, where
the differences in the angular correlations between signal and background are

Measurement of the B0_s semileptonic branching ratio to an orbitally excited D_s** state, Br(B0_s -> Ds1(2536) mu nu)
In a data sample of approximately 1.3 fb-1 collected with the D0 detector
between 2002 and 2006, the orbitally excited charm state D_s1(2536) has been
observed with a measured mass of 2535.7 +/- 0.6 (stat) +/- 0.5 (syst) MeV via
the decay mode B0_s -> D_s1(2536) mu nu X. A first measurement is made of the
branching ratio product Br(b(bar) -> D_s1(2536) mu nu X).Br(D_s1(2536)->D*
K0_S). Assuming that D_s1(2536) production in semileptonic decay is entirely
from B0_s, an extraction of the semileptonic branching ratio Br(B0_s ->

Measurement of the ppbar to ttbar production cross section at sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV in the fully hadronic decay channel
A measurement of the top quark pair production cross section in proton
anti-proton collisions at an interaction energy of sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV is
presented. This analysis uses 405 pb-1 of data collected with the D0 detector
at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. Fully hadronic ttbar decays with final
states of six or more jets are separated from the multijet background using
secondary vertex tagging and a neural network. The ttbar cross section is
measured as sigma(ttbar)=4.5 -1.9 +2.0 (stat) -1.1 +1.4 (syst) +/- 0.3 (lumi)
pb for a top quark mass of m(t) = 175 GeV/c^2.Comment: 10 pages, 10 figures, submitted to Phys. Rev.
Complementarity of the CERN Large Hadron Collider and the International Linear Collider
The next-generation high-energy facilities, the CERN Large Hadron Collider
(LHC) and the prospective International Linear Collider (ILC), are
expected to unravel new structures of matter and forces from the electroweak
scale to the TeV scale. In this report we review the complementary role of LHC
and ILC in drawing a comprehensive and high-precision picture of the mechanism
breaking the electroweak symmetries and generating mass, and the unification of

Simultaneous measurement of the ratio B(t->Wb)/B(t->Wq) and the top quark pair production cross section with the D0 detector at sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV
We present the first simultaneous measurement of the ratio of branching
fractions, R=B(t->Wb)/B(t->Wq), with q being a d, s, or b quark, and the top
quark pair production cross section sigma_ttbar in the lepton plus jets channel
using 0.9 fb-1 of ppbar collision data at sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV collected with the
D0 detector. We extract R and sigma_ttbar by analyzing samples of events with
0, 1 and >= 2 identified b jets. We measure R = 0.97 +0.09-0.08 (stat+syst) and
sigma_ttbar = 8.18 +0.90-0.84 (stat+syst)} +/-0.50 (lumi) pb, in agreement with
