AbstractUsing the homologous recombination machinery ofE. coli,a 1.245-kb deletion was introduced in the E3 region of bovine adenovirus 3 (BAV3) genomic DNA cloned in a plasmid. Transfection of the restriction enzyme-excised, linear E3-deleted BAV3 genomic DNA into primary fetal bovine retina cells produced infectious virus (BAV3.E3d), suggesting that all the E3-specific open reading frames are nonessential for virus replicationin vitro. Using a similar approach, we constructed replication-competent (BAV3.E3gD and BAV3.E3gDt) BAV3 recombinant expressing full-length (gD) or truncated (gDt) glycoprotein of bovine herpes virus 1. Recombinant gD and gDt proteins expressed by BAV3.E3gD and BAV3.E3gDt, respectively, were recognized by gD-specific monoclonal antibodies directed against conformational epitopes, suggesting that antigenicity of recombinant gD and gDt was similar to that of the native gD expressed in bovine herpes virus 1-infected cells. Intranasal immunization of cotton rats induced strong gD- and BAV3-specific IgA and IgG immune responses. These results suggest that replication-competent bovine adenovirus 3-based vectors have potential for the delivery of vaccine antigens to the mucosal surfaces of animals

Web Service SWePT: A Hybrid Opinion Mining Approach

[EN] The increasing use of social networks and online sites where people can express their opinions has created a growing interest in Opinion Mining. One of the main tasks of Opinion Mining is to determine whether an opinion is positive or negative. Therefore, the role of the feelings expressed on the web has become crucial, mainly due to the concern of businesses and government to automatically identify the semantic orientation of the views of customers or citizens. This is also a concern, in the area of health to identify psychological disorders. This research focuses on the development of a web application called SWePT (Web Service for Polarity detection in Spanish Texts), which implements the Sequential Minimal Optimization (SMO) algorithm, extracting its features from an affective lexicon in Mexican Spanish. For this purpose, a corpus and an affective lexicon in Mexican Spanish were created. The experiments using three (positive, neutral, negative) and five categories (very positive, positive, neutral, negative, and very negative) allow us to demonstrate the effectiveness of the presented method. SWePT has also been implemented in the Emotion-bracelet interface, which shows the opinion of a user graphically. This work has been partially supported by the Sectorial Fund CONACyT-INEGI: Project with ref. 208471, INFOTEC, Mexico. Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) are well known for their beneficial effects on human health in the intestine and immune system; however, there are few studies on the impact they can generate in oral health. The aim of this study was to test and compare in vitro antimicrobial activity of L. reuteri on pathogenic bacteria involved in the formation of dental caries: S. mutans, S. gordonii, and periodontal disease: A. naeslundii and T. forsythia. Also, we determined the growth kinetics of each bacterium involved in this study. Before determining the antimicrobial action of L. reuteri on cariogenic bacteria and periodontal disease, the behavior and cell development time of each pathogenic bacterium were studied. Once the conditions for good cell growth of each of selected pathogens were established according to their metabolic requirements, maximum exponential growth was determined, this being the reference point for analyzing the development or inhibition by LAB using the Kirby Bauer method. Chlorhexidine 0.12 % was positive control. L. reuteri was shown to have an inhibitory effect against S. mutans, followed by T. forsythia and S. gordonii, and a less significant effect against A. naeslundii. Regarding the effect shown by L. reuteri on the two major pathogens, we consider its potential use as a possible functional food in the prevention or treatment of oral diseases

Even health is a fundamental right for people, there is still a wide gap to achieve universal health access of good quality. Nationally, one of the problems is related to cancer. In the healthcare sector, one of the big problems is the information needs of cancer patients attending the National Institute of Neoplastic Diseases (INEN, by its acronym in Spanish) located in Lima. Accordingly, in order to propose a communication project, the following text presents first the results of a communicational diagnosis, which main objective is to know the information available to patients, as well as the experiences and needs they have during their treatment route. Then, the research focuses on analyzing information resources, identifying difficulties in accessing information, gathering perceptions and speeches, and demonstrating the functions of the Institute's Office of Communications from a qualitative approach, based on the use of in-depth interviews, content analysis and non-participant observation. Thus, from the Communication for Development approach, it is identified that there are various information needs not met in patients which can be understood as ‘pain points’. There are three specific problems: patient disorientation upon arrival at INEN due to the lack of complete and adequate information given in time; the state of stress of the patients makes it difficult for them to understand complex communication resources; and, the lack of knowledge of support networks, their rights, places and procedures to claim. As a result, the “Relief Points” communication project is proposed, and seeks to help INEN cancer patients enjoy greater wellfare during their transit into and out of the institute through an experience of empathic and articulated communication, with the efforts of the INEN Communications Office.Trabajo de investigació

Measurement of the cross-section and charge asymmetry of WW bosons produced in proton-proton collisions at s=8\sqrt{s}=8 TeV with the ATLAS detector

This paper presents measurements of the W+μ+νW^+ \rightarrow \mu^+\nu and WμνW^- \rightarrow \mu^-\nu cross-sections and the associated charge asymmetry as a function of the absolute pseudorapidity of the decay muon. The data were collected in proton--proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV with the ATLAS experiment at the LHC and correspond to a total integrated luminosity of 20.2~\mbox{fb^{-1}}. The precision of the cross-section measurements varies between 0.8% to 1.5% as a function of the pseudorapidity, excluding the 1.9% uncertainty on the integrated luminosity. The charge asymmetry is measured with an uncertainty between 0.002 and 0.003. The results are compared with predictions based on next-to-next-to-leading-order calculations with various parton distribution functions and have the sensitivity to discriminate between them.Comment: 38 pages in total, author list starting page 22, 5 figures, 4 tables, submitted to EPJC.
