    Brick’s companies nowadays offer a product in which their raw material as sand, cement and gravel is required, that in our country have developed a commercial cost increase. Adding to this situation a lack of ecologic conscience is reflected and give us an idea to present a viable proposal that connect these two problematic. In the planning is used recycling of newsprint and glass bottle to obtain a bio-friendly and economic low-cost result for the consumers. The recycling process include picking and pounding of glass bottles to obtain a particle-size that can supply the sand’s function in the mixture also the pickup gathering of newsprint magazines will become in a mass, which the mixture of these components will contribute improvements to the mechanic operation of the composed materialActualmente las empresas bloqueras ofrecen un producto, el cual es requerido como materia prima: la arena, el cemento y grava, donde nuestro país ha experimentado un alza en su valor comercial. Aunado a esta situación, se refleja una falta de conciencia ecológica lo que nos da la iniciativa de presentar una propuesta viable que concatene estas dos problemáticas. Dentro de nuestro planteamiento, se utiliza el reciclaje del papel periódico y botellas de vidrio para obtener un resultado bioamigable y económicamente cómodo al bolsillo del consumidor. El proceso de reciclado implica la recolección y trituración de botellas de vidrio para obtener una granulometría que supla la función de la arena en la mezcla, así como también el acopio de revistas de papel periódico que se transformará en una masa, la cual la mezcla de estos componentes aportará mejoras al comportamiento mecánico de este material compuesto

    In planta production of Human Papillomavirus 8 L1 protein

    Summary Human papillomavirus 8 (HPV-8), one of the high-risk cutaneous papillomaviruses (cHPVs), is associated with epidermodysplasia verruciformis and nonmelanoma skin cancer in immuno- compromised individuals. Currently, no vaccines against cHPVs have been reported; however, recent studies on cross-neutralizing properties of their capsid proteins (CP) have fostered an interest in vaccine production against these viruses. We examined the potential of producing HPV-8 major CP L1 in Nicotiana benthamiana by agroinfiltration of different transient expression vectors: (i) the binary vector pBIN19 with or without silencing suppressor con- structs, (ii) the nonreplicating Cowpea mosaic virus-derived expression vector pEAQ-HT and (iii) a replicating Tobacco mosaic virus (TMV)-based vector alone or with signal peptides. Although HPV-8 L1 was successfully expressed using pEAQ-HT and TMV, a 15-fold increase was obtained with pEAQ-HT. In contrast, no L1 protein could be immune detected using pBIN19 irrespective of whether silencing suppressors were coexpressed, although such con- structs were required for identifying L1-specific transcripts. A fourfold yield increase in L1 expression was obtained when 22 C-terminal amino acids were deleted (L1DC22), possibly eliminating a nuclear localization signal. Electron microscopy showed that plant-made HPV-8 L1 proteins assembled in appropriate virus-like particles (VLPs) of T = 1 or T = 7 symmetry. Ultra- thin sections of L1DC22-expressing cells revealed their accumulation in the cytoplasm in the form of VLPs or paracrystalline arrays. These results show for the first time the production and localization of HPV-8 L1 protein in planta and its assembly into VLPs representing promis- ing candidate for potential vaccine production

    A Machine Learning Approach to Support Treatment Identification for Chiari I Malformation

    Chiari I malformation is characterized by the herniation of cerebellar tonsils below the foramen magnum. It is often accompanied by syringomyelia and neurosurgical management is still controversial. In fact, it is frequent that some symptomatic patients initially undergo bony decompression of the posterior fossa and need in a short time more invasive surgery with higher morbility (e.g., decompression of posterior fossa with dural plastic, with or without tonsillar coarctation) because of unsatisfactory results at MRI controls. This study proposes a machine learning approach (based on SVM classifier), applied to different morphometric indices estimated from sagittal MRI and some information on the patient (i.e., age and symptoms at diagnosis), to recognize patients with higher risk of syringomyelia and clinical deterioration. Our database includes 58 pediatric patients who underwent surgery treatment. A negative outcome at 1 year from the intervention was observed in 38% of them (accuracy of 62%). Our algorithm allows us to increase the accuracy to about 71%, showing it to be a valid support to neurosurgeons in refining the clinical picture

    SMARCE1-related meningiomas: A clear example of cancer predisposing syndrome

    We report the case of a 16-year-old girl presenting with spinal clear-cell multiple meningiomas (CCMs). In view of this presentation, we sequenced a bioinformatic panel of genes associated with susceptibility to meningioma, identifying a germline heterozygous variant in SMARCE1. Somatic DNA investigations in the CCM demonstrated the deletion of the wild-type allele (loss of heterozygosity, LOH), supporting the causative role of this variant. Family segregation study detected the SMARCE1 variant in the asymptomatic father and in the asymptomatic sister who, nevertheless, presents 2 spinal lesions. Germline heterozygous loss-of-function (LoF) variants in SMARCE1, encoding a protein of the chromatin-remodeling complex SWI/SNF, have been described in few fa-milial cases of susceptibility to meningioma, in particular the CCM subtype. Our case confirms the role of NGS in investigating predisposing genes for meningiomas (multiple or recurrent), with specific regard to SMARCE1 in case of pediatric CCM. In addition to the age of onset, the presence of familial clustering or the coexistence of multiple synchronous meningiomas also supports the role of a genetic predisposition that deserves a molecular assessment. Additionally, given the incomplete penetrance, it is of great importance to follow a specific screening or follow-up program for symptomatic and asymptomatic carriers of pathogenic variants in SMARCE1

    Enhanced production of multi-strange hadrons in high-multiplicity proton-proton collisions

    At sufficiently high temperature and energy density, nuclear matter undergoes a transition to a phase in which quarks and gluons are not confined: the quark-gluon plasma (QGP)(1). Such an exotic state of strongly interacting quantum chromodynamics matter is produced in the laboratory in heavy nuclei high-energy collisions, where an enhanced production of strange hadrons is observed(2-6). Strangeness enhancement, originally proposed as a signature of QGP formation in nuclear collisions(7), is more pronounced for multi-strange baryons. Several effects typical of heavy-ion phenomenology have been observed in high-multiplicity proton-proton (pp) collisions(8,9), but the enhanced production of multi-strange particles has not been reported so far. Here we present the first observation of strangeness enhancement in high-multiplicity proton-proton collisions. We find that the integrated yields of strange and multi-strange particles, relative to pions, increases significantly with the event charged-particle multiplicity. The measurements are in remarkable agreement with the p-Pb collision results(10,11), indicating that the phenomenon is related to the final system created in the collision. In high-multiplicity events strangeness production reaches values similar to those observed in Pb-Pb collisions, where a QGP is formed.Peer reviewe

    Azimuthal anisotropy of charged jet production in root s(NN)=2.76 TeV Pb-Pb collisions

    We present measurements of the azimuthal dependence of charged jet production in central and semi-central root s(NN) = 2.76 TeV Pb-Pb collisions with respect to the second harmonic event plane, quantified as nu(ch)(2) (jet). Jet finding is performed employing the anti-k(T) algorithm with a resolution parameter R = 0.2 using charged tracks from the ALICE tracking system. The contribution of the azimuthal anisotropy of the underlying event is taken into account event-by-event. The remaining (statistical) region-to-region fluctuations are removed on an ensemble basis by unfolding the jet spectra for different event plane orientations independently. Significant non-zero nu(ch)(2) (jet) is observed in semi-central collisions (30-50% centrality) for 20 <p(T)(ch) (jet) <90 GeV/c. The azimuthal dependence of the charged jet production is similar to the dependence observed for jets comprising both charged and neutral fragments, and compatible with measurements of the nu(2) of single charged particles at high p(T). Good agreement between the data and predictions from JEWEL, an event generator simulating parton shower evolution in the presence of a dense QCD medium, is found in semi-central collisions.     Production of He-4 and (4) in Pb-Pb collisions at root(NN)-N-S=2.76 TeV at the LHC

    Results on the production of He-4 and (4) nuclei in Pb-Pb collisions at root(NN)-N-S = 2.76 TeV in the rapidity range vertical bar y vertical bar <1, using the ALICE detector, are presented in this paper. The rapidity densities corresponding to 0-10% central events are found to be dN/dy4(He) = (0.8 +/- 0.4 (stat) +/- 0.3 (syst)) x 10(-6) and dN/dy4 = (1.1 +/- 0.4 (stat) +/- 0.2 (syst)) x 10(-6), respectively. This is in agreement with the statistical thermal model expectation assuming the same chemical freeze-out temperature (T-chem = 156 MeV) as for light hadrons. The measured ratio of (4)/He-4 is 1.4 +/- 0.8 (stat) +/- 0.5 (syst). (C) 2018 Published by Elsevier B.V.Peer reviewe

    Spin alignment measurements using vector mesons with ALICE detector at the LHC

    We present new measurements related to spin alignment of K*(0) vector mesons at mid-rapidity for Pb-Pb collisions at root s(NN) = 2.76 and 5.02 TeV. The spin alignment measurements are carried out with respect to production plane and 2nd order event plane. At low p(T) the spin density matrix element rho(00) for K*(0) is found to have values slightly below 1/3, while it is consistent with 1/3, i.e. no spin alignment, at high p(T). Similar values of rho(00) are observed with respect to both production plane and event plane. Within statistical and systematic uncertainties, rho(00) values are also found to be independent of root s(NN). rho(00) also shows centrality dependence with maximum deviation from 1/3 for mid-central collisions with respect to both the kinematic planes. The measurements for K*(0) in pp collisions at root s = 13 TeV and for K-s(0) (a spin 0 hadron) in 20-40\% central Pb-Pb collisions at root s(NN) = 2.76 TeV are consistent with no spin alignment
