An Iterative 5G Positioning and Synchronization Algorithm in NLOS Environments with Multi-Bounce Paths

5G positioning is a very promising area that presents many opportunities and challenges. Many existing techniques rely on multiple anchor nodes and line-of-sight (LOS) paths, or single reference node and single-bounce non-LOS (NLOS) paths. However, in dense multipath environments, identifying the LOS or single-bounce assumptions is challenging. The multi-bounce paths will make the positioning accuracy deteriorate significantly. We propose a robust 5G positioning algorithm in NLOS multipath environments. The corresponding positioning problem is formulated as an iterative and weighted least squares problem, and different weights are utilized to mitigate the effects of multi-bounce paths. Numerical simulations are carried out to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm. Compared with the benchmark positioning algorithms only using the single-bounce paths, similar positioning accuracy is achieved for the proposed algorithm

AbstractIn vitro transfection of cultured cells combined with nuclear transfer currently is the most effective procedure to produce transgenic livestock. In the present study, bovine primary fetal fibroblasts were transfected with a green fluorescent protein (GFP) reporter transgene and used as nuclear donor cells in oocyte reconstructions. To examine the role of host cytoplasm on transgene expression and developmental outcome, GFP-expressing fibroblasts were fused to oocytes reconstructed either metaphase or telophase activation, and PCR technology was also employed. The results showed that GFP became detectable at the 8- to 16-cell stage, approximately 80h after reconstruction, and remained positive at all later stages. Embryonic development to the blastocyst stage was not significantly different among metaphase and telophase groups. Therefore, GFP transgene technology can be used to select embryoes derived from transgenic animals

DREAMPlaceFPGA-MP: An Open-Source GPU-Accelerated Macro Placer for Modern FPGAs with Cascade Shapes and Region Constraints

FPGA macro placement plays a pivotal role in routability and timing closer to the modern FPGA physical design flow. In modern FPGAs, macros could be subject to complex cascade shape constraints requiring instances to be placed in consecutive sites. In addition, in real-world FPGA macro placement scenarios, designs could have various region constraints that specify boundaries within which certain design instances and macros should be placed. In this work, we present DREAMPlaceFPGA-MP, an open-source GPU-accelerated FPGA macro-placer that efficiently generates legal placements for macros while honoring cascade shape requirements and region constraints. Treating multiple macros in a cascade shape as a large single instance and restricting instances to their respective regions, DREAMPlaceFPGA-MP obtains roughly legal placements. The macros are legalized in multiple steps to efficiently handle cascade shapes and region constraints. Our experimental results demonstrate that DREAMPlaceFPGA-MP is among the top contestants of the MLCAD 2023 FPGA Macro-Placement Contest

Polyneuropathy as Novel Initial Manifestation in a Case of “Nonsecretory” POEMS Syndrome with Sjögren’s Syndrome

POEMS syndrome (polyneuropathy, organomegaly, endocrinopathy, monoclonal gammopathy, and skin changes) is a paraneoplastic syndrome driven by plasma cell dyscrasias. We report a patient with novel initial manifestation of polyneuropathy, which was considered due to Sjögren’s syndrome but with poor response to methylprednisolone (120 mg/d) and intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg). Further investigation by imaging tests and following biopsy eventually confirmed the diagnosis of POEMS syndrome secondary to solitary plasmocytoma. To our knowledge, this is the first reported case of POEMS syndrome with Sjögren’s syndrome occurring in the absence of a peripheral monoclonal gammopathy, highlighting the diagnostic challenges posed by this disease and reviewing the diagnostic role of (18) F-FDG PET/CT in POEMS syndrome

Improving Negative-Prompt Inversion via Proximal Guidance

DDIM inversion has revealed the remarkable potential of real image editing within diffusion-based methods. However, the accuracy of DDIM reconstruction degrades as larger classifier-free guidance (CFG) scales being used for enhanced editing. Null-text inversion (NTI) optimizes null embeddings to align the reconstruction and inversion trajectories with larger CFG scales, enabling real image editing with cross-attention control. Negative-prompt inversion (NPI) further offers a training-free closed-form solution of NTI. However, it may introduce artifacts and is still constrained by DDIM reconstruction quality. To overcome these limitations, we propose Proximal Negative-Prompt Inversion (ProxNPI), extending the concepts of NTI and NPI. We enhance NPI with a regularization term and reconstruction guidance, which reduces artifacts while capitalizing on its training-free nature. Our method provides an efficient and straightforward approach, effectively addressing real image editing tasks with minimal computational overhead.Comment: Code at https://github.com/phymhan/prompt-to-promp

Inhibition of protein FAK enhances 5-FU chemosensitivity to gastric carcinoma via p53 signaling pathways

Abstract(#br)The small molecule drug 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) is widely used in the treatment for gastric cancer (GC), however, it exerts poor efficacy and is associated with acquired and intrinsic resistance. Focal adhesion kinase (FAK), a non-receptor tyrosine kinase, plays a key role in adhesion, migration, and proliferation of gastric carcinoma cells, suggesting that this kinase may be a promising therapeutic target. Differentially expressed FAK in GC tissue was detected by RT-qPCR and TCGA database analysis. To investigate the biological functions of FAK, loss-of-function experiments were performed. CCK-8 assay, colony formation assay, flow cytometry, dual-luciferase reporter assays, and western blot assays were conducted to determine the underlying mechanisms of FAK in 5-FU chemosensitivity in GC. FAK is overexpressed in GC patients, and positively correlated with poor prognosis. The use of shRNA interference to target FAK decreased proliferation and increased apoptosis of GC cells in vitro. Importantly, FAK silencing enhanced the therapeutic efficacy of 5-FU, leading to reduced tumor growth in vivo . We further demonstrated that FAK silencing increased 5-FU-induced caspase-3 activity, and promoted p53 transcriptional activities. Clinical data also has shown that patients with higher levels of FAK had significantly shorter overall survival (OS) and time to first progression (FP) than those with lower levels of FAK. These findings indicate that FAK plays a critical role in 5-FU chemosensitivity in GC, and the use of FAK inhibitors as an adjunct to 5-FU might be an effective strategy for patients who undergo chemotherapy

Risk portfolio on modern finance has become increasingly technical, requiring the use of sophisticated mathematical tools in both research and practice. Since companies cannot insure themselves completely against risk, as human incompetence in predicting the future precisely that written in Al-Quran surah Luqman verse 34, they have to manage it to yield an optimal portfolio. The objective here is to minimize the variance among all portfolios, or alternatively, to maximize expected return among all portfolios that has at least a certain expected return. Furthermore, this study focuses on optimizing risk portfolio so called Markowitz MVO (Mean-Variance Optimization). Some theoretical frameworks for analysis are arithmetic mean, geometric mean, variance, covariance, linear programming, and quadratic programming. Moreover, finding a minimum variance portfolio produces a convex quadratic programming, that is minimizing the objective function ðð¥with constraintsð ð 𥠥 ðandð´ð¥ = ð. The outcome of this research is the solution of optimal risk portofolio in some investments that could be finished smoothly using MATLAB R2007b software together with its graphic analysis
