    Women football spectatorship in the Czech Republic

    Football is a phenomenon of the last decades and also due to fans it could become the most popular sport in the world throughout its history. Football is bringing happiness, fulfilment and thrill to billion people all over the world. But on the other hand it is also riven with corruption, racism, homophobia and violence. The goal of this paper is to analyze the relationship between fans’ verbal and other expression and their violent behavior at Eden football stadium in the Czech Republic. A pilot study was performed in 2015 year, with data collected from women fans (n = 77) aged 22.9 ± 6.4 years old. All of the respondents were attending in a stand of home team supporters. This paper uses quantitative research, methods of analysis, mathematical and statistical methods. In our pilot study, we found that physical aggression against rival fans in the stadium is considered the most serious expression of violent behavior by 73 % of the respondents. Furthermore, 62 % of the respondents found the most serious activity firing of pyrotechnics. Physical aggression against police and riot police marked 57 % of the respondents for the most serious expression. 55 % of the respondents signified the most serious activity demolishing stadium. Triggers for their behavior are mostly alcohol or other addictive substance or referee´s mistake. Only 35 % of the respondents did not meet with the destruction of the stadium and other riots. Also, based on the results of the pilot study, we find that classic fans under 23 years of age are more tolerant of negative social phenomena in the surroundings of the stadium

    Inside Slavia´s supporters: Fans who control the football matches in Czechia

    Purpose: The goal of this paper is to analyse the relationship between supporters’ verbal and other expression and their violent behaviour at selected football stadiums in Czechia. Methods: Primary data were collected by a questionnaire survey mainly at the Eden stadium in Prague in 2015/2016 and 2016/2017 seasons. A total of 158 respondents (aged 23.01 ± 10.11 years old) participated in this research, and all of the respondents were attending in a stand of home team supporters. Results: We found that expressions of demolishing the stadium and other disturbances are considered the most serious expression of violent behaviour by 56.96% of the supporters. On the other hand, 15.19% of the supporters had some experience with demolishing the stadium. Furthermore, 87.34% of the supporters stated that boo is the least serious problem, and almost every supporter (94.94%) had an experience with booing the referee. Conclusions: Based on the results of the research, we find that younger supporters were more tolerant of negative social phenomena in the surroundings of the stadium

    Female Spectatorship and Unsportsmanlike Conduct at Football Stadiums: Case Study from the Czech Republic

    Football is the most popular team sport in the world. It is entertainment, primarily for men, but nowadays, it can be said that the number of women at football stadiums is steadily increasing. Given the long history of spectator sports events consumption, it is not a surprising fact that there have also been serious manifestations of spectator aggression. The paper aims to analyze the relationship between women visitors’ verbal and other expression and their violent behavior on an example of SK Slavia Prague football club. Primary data were collected by a questionnaire survey mainly at the Eden stadium and other selected Czech football stadiums in 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons. A total of 120 respondents (aged 25.01 ± 10.20 years old) participated in this research, and all of the respondents were attending the matches in a stand of home team supporters. We state that there are correlations between women visitors’ verbal and other expression and their violent behavior; e.g., the surveyed respondents had no experience with demolishing stadiums and other riots. The respondents also consider it to be the most serious activity at 82.58%. The racism display noted similar results. We state that the results are adequate for women visitors

    The ethical issue in the case of selected football supporters: Deontology or consequentialism?

    This article deals with the ethical approach of the selected football supporters to some negative features appearing in football visitors´ behavior. The group of respondents consists of 158 supporters of Slavia Praha (Czech football club). Within the questionnaire survey, which was made in the seasons 2015/16 and 2016/17, seven negative phenomena were selected and examined. Respondents´ opinion about the rate of negative influence, as well as the rate of active participation, were collected and expressed via Likert Scale. The statistical evaluation of the data included correlation matrices, cluster analysis and correspondence analysis. The deontological and consequentialist positions determining a major character of the ethical approach are described in the next part of the paper in short. The role of deontology for care of duties and obeying rule is explained within discussion. In conclusion, we argue that the evaluation of the results does not evince any signs of deontological approach apparent within the selected group of respondents

Los datos primarios se recopilaron mediante una encuesta por cuestionario principalmente en el estadio Eden Arena en las temporadas 2015/16 y 2016/17. Un total de 120 encuestados (de 25.01 ± 10.20 años de edad) participaron en esta investigación, y todos los encuestados asistían a los partidos en una tribuna de aficionados del equipo local. Descubrimos que las expresiones que hacían referencia a demoler el estadio y otros disturbios eran consideradas las expresiones más serias de comportamiento violento (hinchas 100%, aficionadas 84% y espectadoras 64%). Por otro lado, observamos que abuchear fue considerado el problema menos grave (hinchas 100%, espectadoras 64% y aficionadas 57%). En nuestra opinión, los resultados son apropiados, pero esperábamos valores más altos en cuanto al racismo y comentarios como demoler el estadio y otros disturbios

    The circumstellar environment of the YSO TMR-1 and a revisit to the candidate very low-mass object TMR-1C

    TMR-1 (IRAS~04361+2547) is a class~I proto-stellar source located in the nearby Taurus star-forming region. Its circumstellar environment is characterized by extended dust emission with complex structures and conspicuous filaments. A faint companion, called TMR-1C, located near the proto-star had been detected in previous studies, but its nature as a very young substellar object remained inconclusive. To improve the constraints on the nature of TMR-1C, and to investigate the process of very low-mass star formation in the TMR-1 system we use very sensitive infrared imaging observations as well as NIR spectroscopy. We construct the SED of TMR-1C over a much larger wavelength range as had been possible in previous work and compare it with models of extincted background stars, young sub-stellar objects, and very low-mass stars with circumstellar disk and envelope emission. We also search for additional low-luminosity objects in the immediate environment of the TMR-1, study the surrounding NIR dust morphology, and analyse the emission line spectrum of a filamentary structure in the physical context of a bow-shock model. We find that the observed SED of TMR-1C is inconsistent with an extincted background star, nor can be fitted with available models for a young extremely low-mass (<12M_Jup) object. Our near-IR spectrum indicates an effective temperature of at least ~3000K. Based on a good match of TMR-1C's SED with radiation transfer models of young stellar objects with circumstellar disks, we propose that TMR-1C is most likely a very low-mass star with M~0.1-0.2M_sun surrounded by a circumstellar disk with high inclination, i>80deg. Moreover, we detect an additional very faint source, which we call TMR-1D, and that shows a quite striking symmetry in position with TMR-1C.     MBM 12: young protoplanetary discs at high galactic latitude

    (abridged) We present Spitzer infrared observations to constrain disc and dust evolution in young T Tauri stars in MBM 12, a star-forming cloud at high latitude with an age of 2 Myr and a distance of 275 pc. The region contains 12 T Tauri systems, with primary spectral types between K3 and M6; 5 are weak-line and the rest classical T Tauri stars. We first use MIPS and literature photometry to compile spectral energy distributions for each of the 12 members in MBM 12, and derive their IR excesses. The IRS spectra are analysed with the newly developed two-layer temperature distribution (TLTD) spectral decomposition method. For the 7 T Tauri stars with a detected IR excess, we analyse their solid-state features to derive dust properties such as mass-averaged grain size, composition and crystallinity. We find a spatial gradient in the forsterite to enstatite range, with more enstatite present in the warmer regions. The fact that we see a radial dependence of the dust properties indicates that radial mixing is not very efficient in the discs of these young T Tauri stars. The SED analysis shows that the discs in MBM 12, in general, undergo rapid inner disc clearing, while the binary sources have faster discevolution. The dust grains seem to evolve independently from the stellar properties, but are mildly related to disc properties such as flaring and accretion rates.Comment: 14 pages, accepted by Astronomy and Astrophysic

    New isolated planetary mass objects and the stellar and substellar mass function of the sigma Orionis cluster

    We report on our analysis of the VISTA Orion ZYJHKs photometric data (completeness magnitudes Z=22.6 and J=21.0mag) focusing on a circular area of 2798.4 arcmin^2 around the young sigma Orionis star cluster (~3Myr, ~352pc, solar metallicity). The combination of the VISTA photometry with optical, WISE and Spitzer data allows us to identify a total of 210 cluster member candidates with masses in the interval 0.25-0.004Msun, 23 of which are new planetary-mass object findings. These discoveries double the number of cluster planetary-mass candidates known so far. One object has colors compatible with a T spectral type. The cluster harbors about as many brown dwarfs (69, 0.072-0.012Msun) and planetary-mass objects (37, 0.012-0.004Msun) as very low-mass stars (104, 0.25-0.072Msun). Based on Spitzer data, we derive a disk frequency of ~40% for very low-mass stars, brown dwarfs, and planetary mass objects in sigma Orionis. The radial density distributions of these three mass intervals are alike: all are spatially concentrated within an effective radius of 12arcmin (1.2pc) around the multiple star sigma Ori, and no obvious segregation between disk-bearing and diskless objects is observed. Using the VISTA data and the Mayrit catalog, we derive the cluster mass spectrum (DeltaN/DeltaM ~ M^{-alpha}) from ~19 to 0.006Msun (VISTA ZJ completeness), which is reasonably described by two power-law expressions with indices of alpha=1.7+/-0.2 for M>0.35Msun, and alpha=0.6+/-0.2 for M<0.35Msun. The sigma Orionis mass spectrum smoothly extends into the planetary-mass regime down to 0.004Msun. Our findings of T-type sources (<0.004Msun) in the VISTA sigma Orionis exploration appear to be smaller than what is predicted by the extrapolation of the cluster mass spectrum down to the survey J-band completeness.Comment: Accepted for publication in ApJ. 69 pages, 15 figure

    The XMM-Newton Extended Survey of the Taurus Molecular Cloud (XEST)

    (abridged:) The XMM-Newton Extended Survey of the Taurus Molecular Cloud (XEST) surveys the most populated ~5 square degrees of the Taurus star formation region, using the XMM-Newton X-ray observatory to study the thermal structure, variability, and long-term evolution of hot plasma, to investigate the magnetic dynamo, and to search for new potential members of the association. Many targets are also studied in the optical, and high-resolution X-ray grating spectroscopy has been obtained for selected bright sources. The X-ray spectra have been coherently analyzed with two different thermal models (2-component thermal model, and a continuous emission measure distribution model). We present overall correlations with fundamental stellar parameters that were derived from the previous literature. A few detections from Chandra observations have been added. The present overview paper introduces the project and provides the basic results from the X-ray analysis of all sources detected in the XEST survey.Comprehensive tables summarize the stellar properties of all targets surveyed. The survey goes deeper than previous X-ray surveys of Taurus by about an order of magnitude and for the first time systematically accesses very faint and strongly absorbed TMC objects. We find a detection rate of 85% and 98% for classical and weak-line T Tau stars (CTTS resp. WTTS), and identify about half of the surveyed protostars and brown dwarfs. Overall, 136 out of 169 surveyed stellar systems are detected. We describe an X-ray luminosity vs. mass correlation, discuss the distribution of X-ray-to-bolometric luminosity ratios, and show evidence for lower X-ray luminosities in CTTS compared to WTTS. Detailed analysis (e.g., variability, rotation-activity relations, influence of accretion on X-rays) will be discussed in a series of accompanying papers.Comment: 75 pg, 77 figs.
