    Filtro predictor basado en redes neuronales para pronóstico de series temporales de lluvia acumulada empleando submuestreo

    En éste trabajo se presenta un filtro predictor basado en redes neuronales (RNs) directas para pronóstico de series temporales de alta rugosidad empleando submuestreo, contribuyendo a la nueva generación de herramientas que permiten conocer la previsibilidad de agua de lluvia. Se generan series temporales a partir de submuestrear a una serie dato original, partiendo del valor disponible más reciente hacia el más antiguo. Se usaron series provenientes de la Ecuación Mackey-Glass (MG) de 120 datos, donde se usaron para validar al algoritmo los últimos 18 valores. También se usó una serie de lluvia mensual acumulada proveniente del establecimiento Santa Francisca, Alta Gracia, Córdoba, que tiene 125 valores. Para cada una de las series generadas por el submuestreo, se ajustó a un filtro diferente basado en RNs, y cada uno de ellos genera un pronóstico que luego es promediado en su conjunto. La regla de ajuste utilizada en el proceso de aprendizaje se basa en el método Levenberg-Marquard y el desempeño del filtro propuesto se evalúa a través del índice SMAPE. En muchos casos se obtienen mejoras muy notorias respecto del resultado obtenido mediante el filtro basado en RNs sin submuestreo.In this work, a neural networks (NN) -based predictor filter for forecasting cumulative rainfall sub-sampled time series of high roughness is presented. It is intended to contribute to the generation of tools to ascertain the predictability of rainfall. Time series are generated from a series down sample the original data, based on the latest available value to the oldest. Using series from the Mackey-Glass Equation (MG) 120 data, which were used the last 18 values to validate the algorithm . Series of monthly rainfall accumulated from Santa Francisca, Alta Gracia, Cordoba, were used which consist of 125 values. For each series generated by sub- sampling, was adjusted to a different filter based on NN, and each one generates a forecast that is then averaged together. The adjustment rule used in the learning process is based on the Levenberg-Marquard method and the proposed filter performance is evaluated by SMAPE index. In many cases very noticeable improvements are obtained with respect to the result obtained by filter based on NN without down sampling.Sociedad Argentina de Informática e Investigación Operativ

    It is totally known the principle of the natural breastfeeding defence in the first stages of life, since its composition provides the healthiest growth. The natural breast milk is divided in preterm milk), colostrum, transition milk and mature milk. Additionally, depending on the kind of initial feeding, three types can be differentiated: natural breastfeeding, mixed breastfeeding and artificial breastfeeding. The nutritional basis of the mixed breastfeeding can in turn be separated in two Adapted Formulas (AF): Initiation milk, from 0 to 6 months and Continuation milk from 4 to 6 months. From this age, babies must take complementary feeding or “beikost”, in which cereals will be added firstly, going on with fruits, fish and at last, dairy products and junior milk, in a parallel way to the development of the child. A number of Special Formulas (SF) are recommended to be used for determined pathophisiology situations, such as: without lactose, protein-modified, soy-based, monomerics or elementals, anti-reflux, anti-constipation and last but not least, formulas made for congenital metabolism dysfunctions.Está ampliamente reconocido, el principio de la defensa de la lactancia natural en los primeros estadios de la vida, ya que su composición aporta el crecimiento más saludable. Dicha leche natural se divide atendiendo al tiempo que se lleve secretando en: leche pretérmino, calostro, leche de transición y leche madura. A su vez, dependiendo de que esta alimentación inicial sea con lactancia materna o no, se pueden diferenciar tres tipos: Lactancia natural, Lactancia mixta y Lactancia artificial. Partiendo de la base de la lactancia, nuestro objetivo ha sido el de iniciar una aproximación a la nutrición infantil durante el primer año de vida. Dentro de la Lactancia mixta indicar que su base alimenticia se divide en dos Fórmulas Adaptadas (FA): una de Inicio, desde 0 a 6 meses, y otra de Continuación, a partir de entre 4 y 6 meses. A partir de esta edad el bebé debe ingerir alimentación complementaria o de “beikost” en la cual se añadirán, paralelo al desarrollo del lactante, inicialmente cereales, pasando a frutas, verduras, pescados y por último derivados lácteos. Igualmente para determinadas situaciones fisio-patológicas están recomendadas una amplia gama de Fórmulas Especiales (FE) como es el caso de: las fórmulas sin lactosa, las modificadas en proteínas, de soja, las elementales o monoméricas, las antirreflujo, las anti-estreñimiento, las anti-cólico y por último y no menos importante las fórmulas para errores congénitos del metabolismo

    Intrinsic protein flexibility is of overwhelming relevance for intermolecular recognition and adaptability of highly dynamic ensemble of complexes, and the phenomenon is essential for the understanding of numerous biological processes. These conformational ensembles—encounter complexes—lack a unique organization, which prevents the determination of well-defined high resolution structures. This is the case for complexes involving the oncoprotein SET/template-activating factor-Iß (SET/TAF-Iß), a histone chaperone whose functions and interactions are significantly affected by its intrinsic structural plasticity. Besides its role in chromatin remodeling, SET/TAF-Iß is an inhibitor of protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A), which is a key phosphatase counteracting transcription and signaling events controlling the activity of DNA damage response (DDR) mediators. During DDR, SET/TAF-Iß is sequestered by cytochrome c (Cc) upon migration of the hemeprotein from mitochondria to the cell nucleus. Here, we report that the nuclear SET/TAF-Iß:Cc polyconformational ensemble is able to activate PP2A. In particular, the N-end folded, globular region of SET/TAF-Iß (a.k.a. SET/TAF-Iß ¿C)—which exhibits an unexpected, intrinsically highly dynamic behavior—is sufficient to be recognized by Cc in a diffuse encounter manner. Cc-mediated blocking of PP2A inhibition is deciphered using an integrated structural and computational approach, combining small-angle X-ray scattering, electron paramagnetic resonance, nuclear magnetic resonance, calorimetry and molecular dynamics simulations

    Salivary epidermal growth factor correlates with hospitalization length in rotavirus infection

    The IFI27 interferon gene expression has been found to be largely increased in rotavirus (RV)-infected patients. IFI27 gene encodes for a protein of unknown function, very recently linked to epidermal proliferation and related to the epidermal growth factor (EGF) protein. The EGF is a low-molecular-weight polypeptide that is mainly produced by submandibular and parotid glands, and it plays an important physiological role in the maintenance of oro-esophageal and gastric tissue integrity. Our aim was to determine salivary EGF levels in RV-infected patients in order to establish its potential relationship with IFI27 increased expression and EGF-mediated mucosal protection in RV infection. We conducted a prospective comparative study using saliva samples from 27 infants infected with RV (sampled at recruitment during hospital admission and at convalescence, i.e. at least 3 months after recovery) and from 36 healthy control children. Median (SD) EGF salivary concentration was 777 (529) pg/ml in RV-infected group at acute phase and 356 (242) pg/m at convalescence, while it was 337 (119) pg/ml in the healthy control group. A significant association was found between EGF levels and hospitalization length of stay (P-value = 0.022; r(2) = -0.63). The salivary levels of EGF are significantly increased during the acute phase of natural RV infection, and relate to length of hospitalization.     Measurement of the t-Channel Single Top Quark Production Cross Section in pp Collisions at √s=7  TeV

With an event selection optimized for t-channel production, two complementary analyses are performed. The first one exploits the special angular properties of the signal, together with background estimates from the data. The second approach uses a multivariate analysis technique to probe the compatibility with signal topology expected from electroweak top-quark production.     Adaptation and Validation of QUick, Easy, New, CHEap, and Reproducible (QUENCHER) Antioxidant Capacity Assays in Model Products Obtained from Residual Wine Pomace

    Evaluation of the total antioxidant capacity of solid matrices without extraction steps is a very interesting alternative for food researchers and also for food industries. These methodologies have been denominated QUENCHER from QUick, Easy, New, CHEap, and Reproducible assays. To demonstrate and highlight the validity of QUENCHER (Q) methods, values of Q-method validation were showed for the first time, and they were tested with products of well-known different chemical properties. Furthermore, new QUENCHER assays to measure scavenging capacity against superoxide, hydroxyl, and lipid peroxyl radicals were developed. Calibration models showed good linearity (R2 > 0.995), proportionality and precision (CV < 6.5%), and acceptable detection limits (<20.4 nmol Trolox equiv). The presence of ethanol in the reaction medium gave antioxidant capacity values significantly different from those obtained with water. The dilution of samples with powdered cellulose was discouraged because possible interferences with some of the matrices analyzed may take place.The autonomous government of Castilla y León (Project BU268A11-2

    Measurement of the prompt J/ψ and ψ(2S) polarizations in pp collisions at √s=7 TeV

It is distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution License 3.0.-- et al.The polarizations of prompt J/ψ and ψ(2S) mesons are measured in proton-proton collisions at √s=7 TeV, using a dimuon data sample collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.9 fb-1. The prompt J/ψ and ψ(2S) polarization parameters λθ{symbol}, λφ, and λθ{symbol}φ, as well as the frame-invariant quantity λ~, are measured from the dimuon decay angular distributions in three different polarization frames. The J/ψ results are obtained in the transverse momentum range 14<pT<70 GeV, in the rapidity intervals |y|<0.6 and 0.6<|y|<1.2. The corresponding ψ(2S) results cover 14<pT<50 GeV and include a third rapidity bin, 1.2<|y|<1.5.     Study of Leading Hadrons in Gluon and Quark Fragmentation

    The study of quark jets in e+e- reactions at LEP has demonstrated that the hadronisation process is reproduced well by the Lund string model. However, our understanding of gluon fragmentation is less complete. In this study enriched quark and gluon jet samples of different purities are selected in three-jet events from hadronic decays of the Z collected by the DELPHI experiment in the LEP runs during 1994 and 1995. The leading systems of the two kinds of jets are defined by requiring a rapidity gap and their sum of charges is studied. An excess of leading systems with total charge zero is found for gluon jets in all cases, when compared to Monte Carlo Simulations with JETSET (with and without Bose-Einstein correlations included) and ARIADNE. The corresponding leading systems of quark jets do not exhibit such an excess. The influence of the gap size and of the gluon purity on the effect is studied and a concentration of the excess of neutral leading systems at low invariant masses (<~ 2 GeV/c^2) is observed, indicating that gluon jets might have an additional hitherto undetected fragmentation mode via a two-gluon system. This could be an indication of a possible production of gluonic states as predicted by QCD.Comment: 19 pages, 6 figures, Accepted by Phys. Lett.

    Search for the standard model Higgs boson in the H to ZZ to 2l 2nu channel in pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV

    A search for the standard model Higgs boson in the H to ZZ to 2l 2nu decay channel, where l = e or mu, in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV is presented. The data were collected at the LHC, with the CMS detector, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 4.6 inverse femtobarns. No significant excess is observed above the background expectation, and upper limits are set on the Higgs boson production cross section. The presence of the standard model Higgs boson with a mass in the 270-440 GeV range is excluded at 95% confidence level.Comment: Submitted to JHE
