Mechanisms of water-salt metabolism disturbances in dogs subjected to six month hypokinesia

Water-salt metabolism in dogs during prolonged restricted motor activity (hypokinesia) was investigated. It was found that hydration occurred and fluid was redistributed between the extra- and intra-cellular sectors. Also, electrolyte excretion rose, and magnetism and calcium metabolism changed significantly. It is concluded that the forces caused by muscle strain proper (which was decreased under conditions of hypokinesia) influence the state of bone metabolism

The design of a die with a vacuum thermal insulation

A new design of a die for the polymer underwater granulation plants has been developed. It differs from similar plants in the design of heat-insulating elements. Vacuum hollows are used as a heat insulator. A vacuumization process does not require a separate operation, and it is conducted simultaneously with connection of all the elements of the die by a brazing method

Design as Means of Countering Vandalism

In this research the design in hardening of aesthetically valuable objects against vandalism is analyzed. There are two distinguished forms of vandalism: meaningless and meaningful ones. The purpose of this research is to develop design methods that enhance protection of aesthetically valuable objects against vandals. The harmonious development of the society is the main goal of culture. Actions that prevent movement to the harmonious development of society are treated as vandalism in this study, in a broad sense of the word. Meaningful vandalism is aimed at the destruction or desecration of objects with aesthetic or cultural value. The counteraction against the meaningful vandalism cannot be realized through the design. The research of vandalism motivation shows that meaningless vandalism does not have a pronounced goal. The main characteristic of meaningless vandalism is a destruction of the most at the lowest cost. It is shown in the study, how to resist the meaningless vandalism by using the objects of design. The relationship of design and mindless vandalism is not linear. Inharmonious design can provoke this type of vandalism. It is important to avoid stress and attention concentrators, when designing aesthetically valuable objects. Aimless (mindless) production is a kind of meaningless vandalism. Trash is the lower border of mindless vandalism and the upper border is meaningful vandalism. Violation of physical and spiritual ecology is the main source of mindless vandalism

A comparative analysis of the D-criteria used to determine genetic links of small bodies

In this article the D-criteria, which can be used to determine the genetic relationships of small bodies with their parent bodies in the solar system, are estimated. Drummond (1981), Southworth and Hawkins (1963), Jopek (1993), dynamic (Kalinin and Kulikova, 2007; Holshevnikov and Titov, 2007) D-criteria were analysed. It was found that the Drummond criterion is less sensitive to errors of observations and its upper limit does not exceed 0.2. The Southworth-Hawkins and Jopek D-criteria are more stable and have good convergence. Limiting values, which vary in the range of 0.3-0.6 (except for the Lyrids), were determined on the basis of the analysis of six meteor showers for the Southworth-Hawkins and Jopek criteria. © 2013 COSPAR. EFFICIENCY OF «AB INTERNO» TRABECULECTOMY USING THE «TRABECTOME» OPERATING SYSTEM IN PATIENTS WITH PRIMARY OPEN-ANGLE GLAUCOMA AND CATARACT

Purpose.  To study dynamics of intraocular pressure in open-angle glaucoma and cataract patients after «ab interno» trabeculectomy with the use of the «Trabectome» system. Material and methods. There were operated 52 patients (63 eyes) with open-angle glaucoma. The IOP level was determined using the Maklakov tonometer before operation and 1 week, 2 weeks, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12, 13-26, 27 and more weeks after operation. Results.  In patients with cataract and glaucoma the mean IOP before operation was 26.1±3.23mmHg and after operation – 20.5±3.23mmHg in the mean follow-up 173± 170.2 days. Conclusions. «Ab interno» trabeculectomy with the use of the «Trabectome» operating system allowed to decrease the IOP by 21.5% in glaucoma patients. It is possible because of microinvasive removal of the trabecular tissue as the main reason for a resistance to the aqueous humor outflow in open-angle glaucoma patients

The authors analyse the key differences between the two popular social networks, including what users perceived to be the most attractive options, the amount of time spent online and attitudes toward advertising. The results have been used to evaluate the potential of social networks (SMM) for business promotion in Russia

УПРАВЛЕНИЕ ИНФОРМАЦИОННОЙ СИСТЕМОЙ ЗДРАВООХРАНЕНИЯ В КЫРГЫЗСКОЙ РЕСПУБЛИКЕ

Despite the active reformation and informatization of healthcare, healthcare establishments of different levels feature a different degree of access to information resources. The situation is also characterized by parallel development of information collection flows, different level of development of different regions, poorly developed infrastructure. These aspects complicate operative information exchange for the purposes of managerial decision-making. We need to determine the degree of compliance of healthcare information systems and subsystems with user needs, as well as assess the capabilities of information systems to provide timely and quality healthcare information to all users of all levels for the purposes of managerial decision-making. The article presents results of a comprehensive assessment of the current state of healthcare informatization in the Kyrgyz Republic using HMN-developed (Health Metrics Network) analytical tools. We demonstrate significant differences in healthcare information system management in the Kyrgyz Republic and note the heterogenous use thereof, especially in regions and districts.Несмотря на активные процессы реформирования здравоохранения и информатизации, имеют место различия в степени оснащенности медицинских организаций разных уровней информационными ресурсами, а также их вовлечения в процесс сбора информации; необеспеченность регионов средствами коммуникации затрудняет обмен данными с целью принятия оперативных управленческих решений. Необходимы определение степени соответствия информационных систем и подсистем в здравоохранении потребностям пользователей всех уровней, а также оценка способностей информационных систем своевременно и качественно предоставлять им информацию по здравоохранению для принятия управленческих решений. В статье представлены результаты комплексной оценки текущей ситуации информатизации системы здравоохранения Кыргызской Республики с использованием аналитических инструментов, разработанных компанией HMN (Health Metrics Network). Показано, что имеются существенные различия в управлении информационной системой здравоохранения в Кыргызской Республике, отмечается ее неравномерное использование, особенно в областях и районах

Charge separation relative to the reaction plane in Pb-Pb collisions at sNN=2.76\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}= 2.76 TeV

Measurements of charge dependent azimuthal correlations with the ALICE detector at the LHC are reported for Pb-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}} = 2.76$ TeV. Two- and three-particle charge-dependent azimuthal correlations in the pseudo-rapidity range $|\eta| < 0.8$ are presented as a function of the collision centrality, particle separation in pseudo-rapidity, and transverse momentum. A clear signal compatible with a charge-dependent separation relative to the reaction plane is observed, which shows little or no collision energy dependence when compared to measurements at RHIC energies. This provides a new insight for understanding the nature of the charge dependent azimuthal correlations observed at RHIC and LHC energies.Comment: 12 pages, 3 captioned figures, authors from page 2 to 6, published version, figures at http://aliceinfo.cern.ch/ArtSubmission/node/286

A note on comonotonicity and positivity of the control components of decoupled quadratic FBSDE

In this small note we are concerned with the solution of Forward-Backward Stochastic Differential Equations (FBSDE) with drivers that grow quadratically in the control component (quadratic growth FBSDE or qgFBSDE). The main theorem is a comparison result that allows comparing componentwise the signs of the control processes of two different qgFBSDE. As a byproduct one obtains conditions that allow establishing the positivity of the control process.Comment: accepted for publicatio
