Estudio de humedales flotantes para la mejora de calidad de agua de escorrentía : caso edificio de parqueaderos de la Pontificia Universidad Javeriana

Debido a la necesidad de utilizar el agua lluvia, después de ser tratada para labores de riego, se decidió implementar un sistema de humedales flotantes en un tanque sedimentador que recoge la escorrentía de la zona de parqueaderos de la Universidad Javeriana de Bogotá. Se tomaron parámetros in situ cada semana a la entrada y salida durante 10 semanas como temperatura, pH, OD y conductividad y durante el mismo periodo mirando a su vez la eficiencia de remoción de DBO5, DQO, NTK, COT, Fosforo, SST, Zinc, Cadmio, Plomo, Cobre, Coliformes totales y E.coli obteniendo 31%, 57%, 53%, 21%, 10%, 47%, 45%, 0%, 87%, 76%, -20% y 76% respectivamente analizando los posibles usos luego de su tratamiento por los humedales flotantes. Además de esto, se llevó un control en el crecimiento de las plantas dando como resultado un desarrollo óptimo de estas, ya que al cabo de 4 meses los tallos de los Juncos alcanzaban más de dos metros y sus raíces más de medio metro formando un área de cobertura mayor a la obtenido en otros países.Because of the need to use the rainwater, after being treated for irrigation work, it was decided to implement a system of floating wetlands in a settler tank that collects runoff from the parking area at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. Parameters were taken in situ every week to the input and output for 10 weeks as temperature, pH, DO and conductivity and during the same period looking the removal efficiency of BOD5, COD, TKN, TOC, Phosphorus, TSS, Zinc, Cadmium, Lead, Copper, Total coliform and E. coli obtaining 31%, 57%, 53%, 21%, 10%, 47%, 45%, 0%, 87%, 76%, -20% y 76% respectively analyzing the possible uses after treatment by floating wetlands. Causes of death in patients with autoimmune and rheumatic diseases—a 16-year autopsy-based study

Introduction: the autopsy is an essential medical procedure; however, its use has declined over the decades. In autoimmune and rheumatological diseases, anatomical and microscopic diagnosis is critical to diagnose of the cause of death. For this reason, our objective is to describe the cause of death in patients diagnosed with autoimmune and rheumatic diseases who underwent an autopsy in a Pathology reference center in Colombia. Materials and methods: a retrospective and descriptive study of autopsy reports. Results: between January 2004 and December 2019, 47 autopsies of patients with autoimmune and rheumatological diseases were performed. Systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis were the most common diseases. The leading cause of death was related to infections, being opportunistic infections in the majority of the cases. Conclusions: our autopsy-based study was focused on patients with autoimmune and rheumatological conditions. Infections are the leading cause of death, particularly opportunistic infections, diagnosed mainly by microscopy. Thus, the autopsy should continue to be considered the “gold standard” to determine the cause of death in this population

Hectopsylla pulex (Haller, 1880) (Siphonaptera: Tungidae) infestation on Eptesicus furinalis (Chiroptera: Vespertilionidae) in the Central Andes of Colombia

Bat ectoparasites have a complex natural history narrowly tied to their hosts at ecological, behavioral, and evolutionary scales. As flying and social organisms, bats represent a potential mechanism of dispersal, a source of feeding, and a roost for ectoparasite reproduction. The chiggerflea Hectopsylla pulex (Siphonaptera: Tungidae) is widely distributed across the Neotropics. Females of this ectoparasite have been found in their neosomal form on bats of the family Molossidae, Noctilionidae, Phyllostomidae, and Vespertilionidae. Here we present the record of infestation of chiggerfleas on the Argentine bat, Eptesicus furinalis (Vespertilionidae) in Colombia, representing the first record of the flea on this species, and providing novel genetic information of this poorly known flea species

Nethserver: Una solución de servidor de código abierto para empresas y organizaciones

NethServer es una distribución de Linux basada en CentOS y Red Hat que proporciona una amplia gama de servicios de red. En este artículo se describe el proceso de instalación y configuración del servidor con versión 7.9 Junto a la implementación de los servicios y el funcionamiento de los mismos concluyendo que NethServer es una herramienta eficaz para la administración de servicios de red, ya que facilita su instalación, configuración y validación.NethServer is a Linux distribution based on CentOS and Red Hat that provides a wide range of networking services. This article describes the installation and configuration process of the server with version 7.9, together with the implementation of the services and their operation, concluding that NethServer is an effective tool for the administration of network services, since it facilitates its installation, configuration and validation

The Fourteenth Data Release of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey: First Spectroscopic Data from the extended Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey and from the second phase of the Apache Point Observatory Galactic Evolution Experiment

The fourth generation of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS-IV) has been in operation since July 2014. This paper describes the second data release from this phase, and the fourteenth from SDSS overall (making this, Data Release Fourteen or DR14). This release makes public data taken by SDSS-IV in its first two years of operation (July 2014-2016). Like all previous SDSS releases, DR14 is cumulative, including the most recent reductions and calibrations of all data taken by SDSS since the first phase began operations in 2000. New in DR14 is the first public release of data from the extended Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (eBOSS); the first data from the second phase of the Apache Point Observatory (APO) Galactic Evolution Experiment (APOGEE-2), including stellar parameter estimates from an innovative data driven machine learning algorithm known as "The Cannon"; and almost twice as many data cubes from the Mapping Nearby Galaxies at APO (MaNGA) survey as were in the previous release (N = 2812 in total). This paper describes the location and format of the publicly available data from SDSS-IV surveys. We provide references to the important technical papers describing how these data have been taken (both targeting and observation details) and processed for scientific use. The SDSS website (www.sdss.org) has been updated for this release, and provides links to data downloads, as well as tutorials and examples of data use.
