    Search for the direct production of charginos and neutralinos in final states with tau leptons in √s=13 TeV collisions with the ATLAS detector

    A search for the direct production of charginos and neutralinos in final states with at least two hadronically decaying tau leptons is presented. The analysis uses a dataset of pp collisions corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36.1 fb−1, recorded with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider at a centre-of-mass energy of 13TeV.Nosignificant deviation from the expected Standard Model background is observed. Limits are derived in scenarios of ˜χ+1 ˜χ−1 pair production and of ˜χ±1 ˜χ02 and ˜χ+1 ˜χ−1 production in simplified models where the neutralinos and charginos decay solely via intermediate left-handed staus and tau sneutrinos, and the mass of the ˜ τL state is set to be halfway between the masses of the ˜χ±1 and the ˜χ01. Chargino masses up to 630 GeV are excluded at 95% confidence level in the scenario of direct production of ˜χ+1 ˜χ−1 for a massless ˜χ01. Common ˜χ±1 and ˜χ02 masses up to 760 GeV are excluded in the case of production of ˜χ±1 ˜χ02 and ˜χ+1 ˜χ−1 assuming a massless ˜χ01. Exclusion limits for additional benchmark scenarios with large and small mass-splitting between the ˜χ±1 and the ˜χ01 are also studied by varying the ˜ τL mass between the masses of the ˜χ±1 and the ˜χ01

High-intensity focused ultrasound is an effective noninvasive treatment option for symptomatic adenomyosis. Clinical studies showed that the prediction of immediate treatment outcome, defined as nonperfused volume ratio for adenomyosis, is one of the key parameters for determining the therapeutic efficacy. MRI parameters of adenomyosis in the screening phase, such as type, location, abdominal subcutaneous fat thickness, signal intensity of adenomyosis, size, number of foci inside the lesion, and perfusion, manifest the impact on nonperfused volume ratio. Therefore, in this article, we performed a literature review of the influential screening MRI parameters on the immediate high-intensity focused ultrasound outcome. Understanding the different characteristics of uterine fibroids on MRI is essential, because it not only enables prompt diagnosis, but also guides the development of suitable therapeutic methods. The prevalence of uterine fibroid and adenomyosis is approximately 70%–80% and 5%–70%, respectively. The efficacy and safety of focused ultrasound surgery (FUS) therapy for treating uterine fibroid and adenomyosis patients has been proved. Regardless of this fact, there are still some potential adverse events that may arise during and after the provision of FUS treatment, which can degrade patients’ quality of life. Understanding the possible adverse events of FUS treatment can improve the confidence in the selection of eligible patients, optimization of treatment strategy, and monitoring of the treatment procedure to ensure patients’ safety.
