Application of Business Intelligence in studies management of Hazard, Vulnerability and Risk in Cuba
In Cuba, the state invests considerable resources in the establishment of preparation plans to mitigate and to minimize the negative impacts of natural threats. As a sample of it, since the year 2010, the country carried out the studies of hazard, vulnerability, and risk (HVR), however, the form in that results of these studies are analyzed present serious limitations for the excessive quantity of data that are dispersed and not very understandable for users belonging to the Centers of Risks' Management make decisions in an agile way. The present work, exposes the management’s pattern of the studies of Hazard, Vulnerability and Risk in Cuba alongside the occurrence of hydrometeorological extreme events in vulnerable territories; and the structuring process of the computer proposal that modifies and computerizes the current analysis procedure of these studies in the country. As contributions of the research and by means of the use of techniques and tools of Business Intelligence, is designed and implemented, for the case of Santiago de Cuba province, the data warehouse that centralizes the results of the studies for hydrometeorological extreme events in 2011 and 2016. A decision support system (DSS-HVR) is built, and integrated at the developed data warehouse in this work, it allows the analysis of the studies in a holistic manner and from several perspectives, to obtain outstanding and better-represented information through interactive and dynamic reports, both tabulate and graph representation, all as a support for a fast and effective decision making
Multiple hazardous elements in nanoparticulate matter from a Caribbean industrialized atmosphere
Modern microscopy studies are capable of revealing ultra-fine particles (UFPs) and nanoparticles (NPs) that are produced in the processes related to traffic vehicular, industrial, metropolitan, and marine aerosol dry deposition in the coastal zones. Especially, secondary aerosol passages complexes categories of NPs and UFPs, which can be accumulated on construction compounds and by dry deposition, encourages multiples monuments deterioration routes. The advanced electron microscopies method is one of the most utilized in environmental studies. Between the different industrial areas in the world, the Caribbean area is the most relevant symbols of air quality due to climatic conditions with strong winds, but this study shows that regionally the most industrialized region does not have an adequate air quality. In the present work, electron microscopy analyses are used to describe of the extent of ultra-fine particle and nanoparticles in walls in contact to weathering. Numerous phases were recognized by advanced mineralogy methods. Thanks to the new analytical procedure it was feasible to understand NPs and UFPs; the occurrence of potential hazardous elements (PHEs), most of them as minerals but also combined in multiple accumulations with Al–Cr–Fe–K–Mg–Pb–Si–Ti–Zn amorphous; and carbonaceous phases
Performance of the Muon Identification at LHCb
The performance of the muon identification in LHCb is extracted from data
using muons and hadrons produced in J/\psi->\mu\mu, \Lambda->p\pi and
D^{\star}->\pi D0(K\pi) decays. The muon identification procedure is based on
the pattern of hits in the muon chambers. A momentum dependent binary
requirement is used to reduce the probability of hadrons to be misidentified as
muons to the level of 1%, keeping the muon efficiency in the range of 95-98%.
As further refinement, a likelihood is built for the muon and non-muon
hypotheses. Adding a requirement on this likelihood that provides a total muon
efficiency at the level of 93%, the hadron misidentification rates are below
0.6%.Comment: 17 pages, 10 figure
Cross Sections for the Reactions e+e- --> K+ K- pi+pi-, K+ K- pi0pi0, and K+ K- K+ K- Measured Using Initial-State Radiation Events
We study the processes e+e- --> K+ K- pi+pi-gamma, K+ K- pi0pi0gamma, and K+
K- K+ K-gamma, where the photon is radiated from the initial state. About
84000, 8000, and 4200 fully reconstructed events, respectively, are selected
from 454 fb-1 of BaBar data. The invariant mass of the hadronic final state
defines the \epem center-of-mass energy, so that the K+ K- pi+pi- data can be
compared with direct measurements of the e+e- --> K+ K- pi+pi- reaction. No
direct measurements exist for the e+e- --> K+ K-pi0pi0 or e+e- --> K+ K-K+ K-
reactions, and we present an update of our previous result with doubled
statistics. Studying the structure of these events, we find contributions from
a number of intermediate states, and extract their cross sections. In
particular, we perform a more detailed study of the e+e- --> phi(1020)pipigamma
reaction, and confirm the presence of the Y(2175) resonance in the phi(1020)
f0(980) and K+K-f0(980) modes. In the charmonium region, we observe the J/psi
in all three final states and in several intermediate states, as well as the
psi(2S) in some modes, and measure the corresponding product of branching
fraction and electron width.Comment: 35 pages, 42 figure
Study of Upsilon(3S,2S) -> eta Upsilon(1S) and Upsilon(3S,2S) -> pi+pi- Upsilon(1S) hadronic trasitions
We study the Upsilon(3S,2S)->eta Upsilon(1S) and Upsilon(3S,2S)->pi+pi-
Upsilon(1S) transitions with 122 million Upsilon(3S) and 100 million
Upsilon(2S) mesons collected by the BaBar detector at the PEP-II asymmetric
energy e+e- collider. We measure B[Upsilon(2S)->eta
Upsilon(1S)]=(2.39+/-0.31(stat.)+/-0.14(syst.))10^-4 and Gamma[Upsilon(2S)->eta
Upsilon(1S)]/Gamma[Upsilon(2S)-> pi+pi-
Upsilon(1S)]=(1.35+/-0.17(stat.)+/-0.08(syst.))10^-3. We find no evidence for
Upsilon(3S)->eta Upsilon(1S) and obtain B[Upsilon(3S)->eta Upsilon(1S)]<1.0
10^-4 and Gamma[Upsilon(3S)->eta Upsilon(1S)]/Gamma[Upsilon(3S)->pi+pi-
Upsilon(1S)]<2.3 10^-3 as upper limits at the 90% confidence level. We also
provide improved measurements of the Upsilon(2S) - Upsilon(1S) and Upsilon(3S)
- Upsilon(1S) mass differences, 562.170+/-0.007(stat.)+/-0.088(syst.) MeV/c^2
and 893.813+/-0.015(stat.)+/-0.107(syst.) MeV/c^2 respectively.Comment: 8 pages, 16 encapsulated postscript figures, submitted to Phys.Rev.

A Search for Dark Higgs Bosons
Recent astrophysical and terrestrial experiments have motivated the proposal
of a dark sector with GeV-scale gauge boson force carriers and new Higgs
bosons. We present a search for a dark Higgs boson using 516 fb-1 of data
collected with the BABAR detector. We do not observe a significant signal and
we set 90% confidence level upper limits on the product of the Standard
Model-dark sector mixing angle and the dark sector coupling constant.Comment: 7 pages, 5 postscript figures, published version with improved plots

Study of CP violation in Dalitz-plot analyses of B0 --> K+K-KS, B+ --> K+K-K+, and B+ --> KSKSK+
We perform amplitude analyses of the decays , , and , and measure CP-violating
parameters and partial branching fractions. The results are based on a data
sample of approximately decays, collected with the
BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy factory at the SLAC National
Accelerator Laboratory. For , we find a direct CP asymmetry
in of , which differs
from zero by . For , we measure the
CP-violating phase .
For , we measure an overall direct CP asymmetry of
. We also perform an angular-moment analysis of
the three channels, and determine that the state can be described
well by the sum of the resonances , , and

Measurement of the ratio of branching fractions BR(B0 -> K*0 gamma)/BR(Bs0 -> phi gamma)
The ratio of branching fractions of the radiative B decays B0 -> K*0 gamma
and Bs0 -> phi gamma has been measured using 0.37 fb-1 of pp collisions at a
centre of mass energy of sqrt(s) = 7 TeV, collected by the LHCb experiment. The
value obtained is BR(B0 -> K*0 gamma)/BR(Bs0 -> phi gamma) = 1.12 +/- 0.08
^{+0.06}_{-0.04} ^{+0.09}_{-0.08}, where the first uncertainty is statistical,
the second systematic and the third is associated to the ratio of fragmentation
fractions fs/fd. Using the world average for BR(B0 -> K*0 gamma) = (4.33 +/-
0.15) x 10^{-5}, the branching fraction BR(Bs0 -> phi gamma) is measured to be
(3.9 +/- 0.5) x 10^{-5}, which is the most precise measurement to date.Comment: 15 pages, 1 figure, 2 table
