A relação entre negociação frente-a-frente e a e-negociação: tendências e actores negociais

A negociação é um processo que o ser humano utiliza no seu dia-a-dia, em quase todas as tarefas que desenvolve. Mas, quando estamos num contexto empresarial esta tarefa ganha uma maior importância pelo seu impacto directo nos resultado financeiros da empresa, os quais definem a sustentabilidade e continuidade da mesma. Considerando toda a evolução tecnológica e o crescimento das transações comerciais electrónicas, a negociação enfrenta uma mudança de paradigma. De uma negociação frente-afrente, passando por uma fase intermédia onde a transação é composta por troca de e-mails, videoconferências, etc, até a uma negociação desenvolvida na sua totalidade (nas compras e vendas) através de uma plataforma electrónica, a e-negociação / e-bidding. O estudo realizado, com base em revisão de literatura e num estudo empírico, procura diferenciar a negociação frente-a-frente da e-negociação e identificar as características de um e-negociador. Os resultados do presente estudo puseram em evidência as diferenças e convergências destes tipos de negociação, identificando como fundamental diferença o tipo de comunicação. Apesar das diferenças encontradas, torna-se também relevante para este trabalho identificar possíveis tendências evolutivas do processo negocial. Como principais conclusões poderemos salientar que, actualmente os processos de ebidding são mais eficazes quando se trata de transações de produtos indiferenciados. No caso de produtos diferenciados a negociação tem melhores resultados quando é um processo misto entre o e-bidding e na última fase deste processo a negociação frente-a-frente. Concluimos ainda que o comportamento dos negociadores é outra variável que deverá sofrer uma adaptação, pois os negociadores ainda negocieiam através das plataformas de e-bidding como se estivessem em uma negociação frente-a-frente.Negotiation is a process that the human being uses in daily life, in almost all he that develops. However, when we are in a business context this task gets more importance by its direct impact on the company's financial result, which defines the sustainability and continuity of it. Trading is facing a paradigm shift considering all the technological developments and the growth of electronic commerce transactions. A face-to-face negotiation, passing through an intermediate stage where the transaction is made up of e-mail exchange, video conferencing, etc, until the negotiations developed in its entirely (on purchases and sales) through an electronic platform, e-negotiation/e-bidding. The study, based on literature review and on an empiric study, seeks to differentiate the face-to-face negotiation of e-negotiation and identify the characteristics of an e-negotiator. The results of this study have highlighted the differences and similarities of these types of negotiations, identifying the type of communication as fundamental difference. Despite the differences found, it is also relevant for this work to identify possible trends of the negotiating process. As main conclusions, we can point out that currently the e-bidding processes are more effective when it comes to undifferentiated products transactions. In the case of differentiated products, the negotiation has better results when it is a joint process between the e-bidding and at the last stage of this process the face-to-face negotiation. We conclude that the behavior of the negotiators is another variable that should undergo an adaptation, because the negotiators still negotiate through the e-bidding platforms as they would in a face-to-face negotiation

Photomodulation of ultrastable host–guest complexes in water and their application in light-controlled steroid release

The cucurbit[8]uril (CB8) synthetic receptor is shown to form high-affinity host-guest complexes with dicationic dithienylethene (DTE) photoswitches in water. ITC experiments combined with computational studies suggest that the formation of the inclusion complexes is mainly driven by a combination of hydrophobic effects, ion-dipole, hydrogen- and chalcogen-bonding interactions. The binding affinities were observed to be much higher for the DTE closed isomers, reaching values in the picomolar range (up to 1011 M−1) while the open isomers display up to 10 000-fold lower affinities, setting ideal conditions for the development of robust photoswitchable host-guest complexes. The light-responsive affinity of these photoswitches toward CB8 was explored to control the encapsulation and release of nanomolar affinity steroids via competitive guest replacement.publishersversionpublishe

Aspectos clínicos, hematológicos, bioquímicos e citopatológicos do tumor venéreo transmissível em cães tratados com sulfato de vincristina

Com o objetivo de avaliar os aspectos clínicos, hematológicos, bioquímicos e citopatológicos de cães com tumor venéreo transmissível (TVT) tratados com o sulfato de vincristina foram selecionados 10 cães sem distinção de sexo, raça ou idade que tiveram o diagnóstico de TVT pelo exame citopatológico, dos quais foram colhidas amostras de sangue para realização de hemograma e dosagens bioquímicas. Os cães foram tratados com o sulfato de vincristina na dose de 0,75mg/m2 com administração intravenosa a cada sete dias durante seis semanas. Dos 10 cães avaliados e acometidos pelo TVT, 70% eram fêmeas e 30% machos, com média de idade de 4,8±1,3 anos e todos sem raça definida. A principal queixa clínica foi secreção sanguinolenta, nasal e/ou genital. Após a quimioterapia, apenas o sangramento vulvar apresentou diferenças estatisticamente significativas (p<0,05) a partir de 21 dias, onde 100% dos cães não apresentaram mais sangramentos. Na classificação citopatológica, observou-se que 50% dos tumores foram do tipo plasmocitário, 30% misto e 20% linfocitário. A alteração hematológica observada foi à diminuição na contagem dos bastonetes (p=0,042) no início e após sete dias, enquanto que na bioquímica sérica foi constatado aumento na dosagem sérica de fósforo (p=0,024) com resultados estatisticamente significativos (p<0,05). Concluiu-se que a citologia aspirativa por agulha fina e o imprint foram métodos eficazes, simples e seguros para o diagnóstico do TVT e que independente da classificação tumoral, houve resposta satisfatória de todos os pacientes ao tratamento com o sulfato de vincristina. Um protocolo a partir de seis aplicações do quimioterápico, com intervalos de sete dias entre as aplicações se mostrou eficiente para o tratamento do TVT com regressão completa da neoplasia

Photoresponsive binding kinetics was achieved in cucurbit[8]uril-dithienylethene host-guest complexes. This work demonstrates that, in the presence of a competitor guest (in purple), the host-guest dissociation kinetics is approximately 100-fold slower for the closed (green) than for the open (yellow) dithienylethene isomers (t 1/2=107 hours vs. t 1/2=1.2 hours), allowing control over the dissociation rate with red/NIR light. In this work, a study focused on the kinetics of a water-soluble host-guest system based on cucurbit[8]uril and two dithienylethene (DTE) photoswitches is reported. It is shown that for the DTE guest comprising two anionic sulfonate side arms appended to pyridinium moieties, the formation/dissociation of the pseudorotaxane structures is slowed down by more than 100000-fold with respect to its bipyridinium analogue. The decrease in ingression rate leads to the emergence of a competitive metastable product with the open DTE isomer that has an important influence in the overall binding kinetics. Moreover, the host-guest dissociation kinetics is demonstrated to be approximately 100-fold slower for the closed DTE isomer (t1/2=107 h vs. t1/2=1.2 h for the open isomer) allowing control over the dissociation rate with light.authorsversionpublishe

Global perspective of familial hypercholesterolaemia: a cross-sectional study from the EAS Familial Hypercholesterolaemia Studies Collaboration (FHSC)

none724siBackground The European Atherosclerosis Society Familial Hypercholesterolaemia Studies Collaboration (FHSC) global registry provides a platform for the global surveillance of familial hypercholesterolaemia through harmonisation and pooling of multinational data. In this study, we aimed to characterise the adult population with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolaemia and described how it is detected and managed globally.Methods Using FHSC global registry data, we did a cross-sectional assessment of adults (aged 18 years or older) with a clinical or genetic diagnosis of probable or definite heterozygous familial hypercholesterolaemia at the time they were entered into the registries. Data were assessed overall and by WHO regions, sex, and index versus non-index cases.Findings Of the 61 612 individuals in the registry, 42 167 adults (21 999 [53.6%] women) from 56 countries were included in the study. Of these, 31 798 (75.4%) were diagnosed with the Dutch Lipid Clinic Network criteria, and 35 490 (84.2%) were from the WHO region of Europe. Median age of participants at entry in the registry was 46.2 years (IQR 34.3-58.0); median age at diagnosis of familial hypercholesterolaemia was 44.4 years (32.5-56.5), with 40.2% of participants younger than 40 years when diagnosed. Prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors increased progressively with age and varied by WHO region. Prevalence of coronary disease was 17.4% (2.1% for stroke and 5.2% for peripheral artery disease), increasing with concentrations of untreated LDL cholesterol, and was about two times lower in women than in men. Among patients receiving lipid-lowering medications, 16 803 (81.1%) were receiving statins and 3691 (21.2%) were on combination therapy, with greater use of more potent lipid-lowering medication in men than in women. Median LDL cholesterol was 5.43 mmol/L (IQR 4.32-6.72) among patients not taking lipid-lowering medications and 4.23 mmol/L (3.20-5.66) among those taking them. Among patients taking lipid-lowering medications, 2.7% had LDL cholesterol lower than 1.8 mmol/L; the use of combination therapy, particularly with three drugs and with proprotein convertase subtilisin-kexin type 9 inhibitors, was associated with a higher proportion and greater odds of having LDL cholesterol lower than 1.8 mmol/L. Compared with index cases, patients who were non-index cases were younger, with lower LDL cholesterol and lower prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors and cardiovascular diseases (all p<0.001).Interpretation Familial hypercholesterolaemia is diagnosed late. Guideline-recommended LDL cholesterol concentrations are infrequently achieved with single-drug therapy. Cardiovascular risk factors and presence of coronary disease were lower among non-index cases, who were diagnosed earlier. Characterisation of microbial attack on archaeological bone

As part of an EU funded project to investigate the factors influencing bone preservation in the archaeological record, more than 250 bones from 41 archaeological sites in five countries spanning four climatic regions were studied for diagenetic alteration. Sites were selected to cover a range of environmental conditions and archaeological contexts. Microscopic and physical (mercury intrusion porosimetry) analyses of these bones revealed that the majority (68%) had suffered microbial attack. Furthermore, significant differences were found between animal and human bone in both the state of preservation and the type of microbial attack present. These differences in preservation might result from differences in early taphonomy of the bones. © 2003 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved
