Sua proposta é servir de apoio à interlocução social para deficientes intelectuais não alfabetizados. O mesmo foi validado em escolas, em casos reais de uso, por professores especializados. É um projeto sem fins lucrativos, tendo sido desenvolvido com tecnologias abertas.This project decribes the conceiving and development process of an app titled Comunicação Funcional. Designed for smartphones, its main proposition is to support social dialogue for non-literate users with intellectual disabilities. The app has been validated by specialized teachers in real use cases at partner institutions. This is a non-profit and public project and the app was developed with open source technology

    Fatores que contribuem para o aumento da incidência da dengue na atualidad

    Introdução: A dengue surgiu no Brasil no século XIX, quando foram registrados os primeiros relatos dessa doença que se tornaria uma endemia nacional. Posteriormente, graças à minuciosos estudos, verificou-se também a intrínseca relação do vetor da dengue com a transmissão de outras doenças – tais como a Febre Amarela. Hoje, a prevalência dessa patologia é alarmante por conta da alta taxa de distribuição da doença em todo o território e das complicações que permeiam o processo de adoecimento. Objetivos: Identificar os fatores que influenciaram o aumento dos índices de dengue nos últimos anos no Brasil. Material e método: Realizou-se uma revisão integrativa da literatura com base na análise de artigos científicos, publicados entre os anos de 2014 e 2018, pesquisados nas plataformas PubMed, Medline e Scielo, além de dados extraídos do DataSUS. Delimitou-se, ainda, dois eixos a serem discutidos nessa revisão: fatores climáticos e crescimento populacional. Resultados: Apesar dos esforços para a eliminação do mosquito transmissor, a dengue é considerada uma doença emergente em países tropicais e subtropicais, entre eles o Brasil. Diversos fatores podem estar associados aos recorrentes casos no país, dentre eles: a pluviosidade, as elevadas temperaturas, a introdução e/ou circulação de um ou mais sorotipos do vírus e a crescente proporção de pacientes acometidos pela forma grave da doença. Paralelamente, dados do DataSUS comprovam que, entre 2013 e 2017, houve um aumento no número de casos de dengue em todo país, sendo a região Nordeste a mais acometida por ser justamente uma área de elevada umidade e temperatura. Além disso, convém ressaltar que problemas como a dengue têm suas raízes na forma explosiva com que as populações urbanas crescem, nas condições em que vivem e nos estilos de vida que adquirem. Exemplo disso é o processo de urbanização pelo qual passou a região Centro-Oeste que, a princípio, sofreu um grande êxodo rural e teve, em sequência, um rápido e desordenado crescimento industrial. Desse modo, as políticas públicas de saúde mostram-se historicamente ineficientes para suprir as necessidades de uma sociedade que cresceu de forma tão rápida e desordenada. Na contemporaneidade, essa falha do Estado em atender quem necessita é, em grande medida, sustentada na ausência de controle do vetor, na precária notificação de casos graves e na carência de equipes de saúde plenamente capacitadas. Conclusão: Em suma, depreende-se que o aumento dos números de casos dessa endemia é sustentado por diversos fatores. Assim, a erradicação da doença transita por ções tanto da iniciativa governamental como também da própria população que, notadamente, assume uma significativa importância na preservação do meio ambiente e eliminação dos criadouros do mosquito vetor. Por fim, conclui-se que a dengue é uma problemática que merece mais atenção pois, conforme os dados supracitados, é muito prevalente no país e também pode causar comprometimentos fisiológicos graves

    MAMMALS IN PORTUGAL : A data set of terrestrial, volant, and marine mammal occurrences in P ortugal

    Mammals are threatened worldwide, with 26% of all species being includedin the IUCN threatened categories. This overall pattern is primarily associatedwith habitat loss or degradation, and human persecution for terrestrial mam-mals, and pollution, open net fishing, climate change, and prey depletion formarine mammals. Mammals play a key role in maintaining ecosystems func-tionality and resilience, and therefore information on their distribution is cru-cial to delineate and support conservation actions. MAMMALS INPORTUGAL is a publicly available data set compiling unpublishedgeoreferenced occurrence records of 92 terrestrial, volant, and marine mam-mals in mainland Portugal and archipelagos of the Azores and Madeira thatincludes 105,026 data entries between 1873 and 2021 (72% of the data occur-ring in 2000 and 2021). The methods used to collect the data were: live obser-vations/captures (43%), sign surveys (35%), camera trapping (16%),bioacoustics surveys (4%) and radiotracking, and inquiries that represent lessthan 1% of the records. The data set includes 13 types of records: (1) burrowsjsoil moundsjtunnel, (2) capture, (3) colony, (4) dead animaljhairjskullsjjaws, (5) genetic confirmation, (6) inquiries, (7) observation of live animal (8),observation in shelters, (9) photo trappingjvideo, (10) predators dietjpelletsjpine cones/nuts, (11) scatjtrackjditch, (12) telemetry and (13) vocalizationjecholocation.     Pervasive gaps in Amazonian ecological research

    Biodiversity loss is one of the main challenges of our time,1,2 and attempts to address it require a clear un derstanding of how ecological communities respond to environmental change across time and space.3,4 While the increasing availability of global databases on ecological communities has advanced our knowledge of biodiversity sensitivity to environmental changes,5–7 vast areas of the tropics remain understudied.8–11 In the American tropics, Amazonia stands out as the world’s most diverse rainforest and the primary source of Neotropical biodiversity,12 but it remains among the least known forests in America and is often underrepre sented in biodiversity databases.13–15 To worsen this situation, human-induced modifications16,17 may elim inate pieces of the Amazon’s biodiversity puzzle before we can use them to understand how ecological com munities are responding. To increase generalization and applicability of biodiversity knowledge,18,19 it is thus crucial to reduce biases in ecological research, particularly in regions projected to face the most pronounced environmental changes. We integrate ecological community metadata of 7,694 sampling sites for multiple or ganism groups in a machine learning model framework to map the research probability across the Brazilian Amazonia, while identifying the region’s vulnerability to environmental change. 15%–18% of the most ne glected areas in ecological research are expected to experience severe climate or land use changes by 2050.     Biodiversity recovery of Neotropical secondary forests

    Old-growth tropical forests harbor an immense diversity of tree species but are rapidly being cleared, while secondary forests that regrow on abandoned agricultural lands increase in extent. We assess how tree species richness and composition recover during secondary succession across gradients in environmental conditions and anthropogenic disturbance in an unprecedented multisite analysis for the Neotropics. Secondary forests recover remarkably fast in species richness but slowly in species composition. Secondary forests take a median time of five decades to recover the species richness of old-growth forest (80% recovery after 20 years) based on rarefaction analysis. Full recovery of species composition takes centuries (only 34% recovery after 20 years). A dual strategy that maintains both old-growth forests and species-rich secondary forests is therefore crucial for biodiversity conservation in human-modified tropical landscapes.     A História da Alimentação: balizas historiográficas

    Os M. pretenderam traçar um quadro da História da Alimentação, não como um novo ramo epistemológico da disciplina, mas como um campo em desenvolvimento de práticas e atividades especializadas, incluindo pesquisa, formação, publicações, associações, encontros acadêmicos, etc. Um breve relato das condições em que tal campo se assentou faz-se preceder de um panorama dos estudos de alimentação e temas correia tos, em geral, segundo cinco abardagens Ia biológica, a econômica, a social, a cultural e a filosófica!, assim como da identificação das contribuições mais relevantes da Antropologia, Arqueologia, Sociologia e Geografia. A fim de comentar a multiforme e volumosa bibliografia histórica, foi ela organizada segundo critérios morfológicos. A seguir, alguns tópicos importantes mereceram tratamento à parte: a fome, o alimento e o domínio religioso, as descobertas européias e a difusão mundial de alimentos, gosto e gastronomia.
