    La gestión estratégica basada en el gobierno corporativo: un análisis comparativo de los códigos de buenas prácticas

    Las circunstancias que rodean las empresas actuales hacen que sus directivos sean claves para su supervivencia, y por el echo de utilizaren los recursos empresariales, tienen sus comportamientos constantemente evaluados. Esto exige desarrollar estudios que profundicen en el entendimiento de estos recursos y su gestión estratégica. En particular, elegimos la perspectiva del gobierno de la empresa con el objeto de establecer un enfoque comparativo entre los aspectos relativos a las principales prácticas de buen gobierno adoptadas por países considerando el origen del sistema legal (ley civil y ley común). Para eso, hemos recorrido datos sobre los códigos de buenas prácticas de 29 países y analizamos comparativamente las más adoptadas. Nuestros resultados demuestran que no hay una diferencia significativamente relevante entre las prácticas más adoptadas en los países pertenecientes a uno u otro grupo, consistente con la hipótesis aquí planteada. Sin embargo, siguen teniendo elevada importancia en el entorno empresarial, mejorando las prácticas de los directivos, la transparencia de sus actuaciones y han resultado en una mayor protección de los inversores.The circumstances that surround today’s companies cause that their directors are key for their survival, and by making use of enterprise resources, constantly need to have their behaviour evaluated. This demands to develop studies that deepen the understanding of these resources and their strategic management. In particular, we chose the perspective of the firm’s corporate government with the intention to establish a comparative approach between aspects relative to the main practices of good governance adopted by countries considering the origin of a legal system (civil law and common law). Therefore, we have crossed data on the codes of best practices of 29 countries and analyzed comparatively the most adopted ones. Our results demonstrate that there is not a relative significant difference between the most adopted practices for countries belonging to one or another group, consistent with the hypothesis raised above. Nevertheless, they continue having high importance in enterprise surroundings, improving the practices of the directors, the transparency of their performances and have been in a greater protection of the investors

    Thermal treatment effect on the mechanical, tribological and corrosion properties of Ni-W alloy obtained by direct and pulse plating electrodeposition

    Ni-W electrodeposits have emerged as one of the most suitable alternatives to hard chromium mainly owing to their remarkable mechanical and tribological properties. Additionally, advanced technologies that require materials resistant to high temperatures could benefit from the use of Ni-W coatings. In this work, the effect of thermal treatment at different temperatures (300, 500, 700°C) on the characteristics of Ni-W coatings obtained by direct and pulse plating (PP) was studied. The morphology, composition, crystalline structure, hardness, wear rate, friction coefficient and corrosion resistance of the thermally treated coatings were analysed and compared with the performance of hard chromium coatings. The results indicate that the pulse-plated Ni-W coatings show better mechanical and tribological properties than the ones obtained by direct current. A significant improvement in hardness in Ni-W layers was achieved by thermal treatment, mainly in the films grown by PP, with minor changes in wear resistance and corrosion performance

    Next generation flow for minimally-invasive blood characterization of MGUS and multiple myeloma at diagnosis based on circulating tumor plasma cells (CTPC)

    © The Author(s) 2018.Here, we investigated for the first time the frequency and number of circulating tumor plasma cells (CTPC) in peripheral blood (PB) of newly diagnosed patients with localized and systemic plasma cell neoplasms (PCN) using next-generation flow cytometry (NGF) and correlated our findings with the distinct diagnostic and prognostic categories of the disease. Overall, 508 samples from 264 newly diagnosed PCN patients, were studied. CTPC were detected in PB of all active multiple myeloma (MM; 100%), and smoldering MM (SMM) patients (100%), and in more than half (59%) monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS) cases (p <0.0001); in contrast, CTPC were present in a small fraction of solitary plasmacytoma patients (18%). Higher numbers of CTPC in PB were associated with higher levels of BM infiltration and more adverse prognostic features, together with shorter time to progression from MGUS to MM (p <0.0001) and a shorter survival in MM patients with active disease requiring treatment (p ≤ 0.03).     Measurement of the cross-section and charge asymmetry of WW bosons produced in proton-proton collisions at s=8\sqrt{s}=8 TeV with the ATLAS detector

    This paper presents measurements of the W+μ+νW^+ \rightarrow \mu^+\nu and WμνW^- \rightarrow \mu^-\nu cross-sections and the associated charge asymmetry as a function of the absolute pseudorapidity of the decay muon. The data were collected in proton--proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV with the ATLAS experiment at the LHC and correspond to a total integrated luminosity of 20.2~\mbox{fb^{-1}}. The precision of the cross-section measurements varies between 0.8% to 1.5% as a function of the pseudorapidity, excluding the 1.9% uncertainty on the integrated luminosity. The charge asymmetry is measured with an uncertainty between 0.002 and 0.003. The results are compared with predictions based on next-to-next-to-leading-order calculations with various parton distribution functions and have the sensitivity to discriminate between them.Comment: 38 pages in total, author list starting page 22, 5 figures, 4 tables, submitted to EPJC.
