    RESUMEN: Se presenta el caso de un joven de doce años, con diagnóstico de enfermedad de Kawasaki (EK)incompleta, quien presentó, en el trascurso de la misma, un cuadro clínico compatible con hepatitis aguda. El diagnóstico definitivo se retrasó por la necesidad de descartar otros diagnósticos diferenciales relacionados con la hepatitis aguda. Aunque en la EK puede ocurrir una disfunción hepática, caracterizada por aumento de las transaminasas y bilirrubinas, el cuadro clínico de una hepatitis aguda es muy raro en el curso de esta enfermedadSUMMARY: We report the case of a 12 year old boy with incomplete Kawasaki disease (KD). During the courseof his illness he presented with symptoms of acute hepatitis, which delayed the final diagnosis.     Lung Paragonimiais in Children: Report of Two Cases

    RESUMEN: La paragonimiasis es una zoonosis parasitaria, de transmisión alimentaria, causada por especies de tremátodos del género Paragonimus, presente en áreas tropicales y subtropicales de Asia, África y América. El ser humano se infecta mediante la ingestión de crustáceos de agua dulce crudos o mal cocidos. La infección afecta principalmente los pulmones, con desarrollo de múltiples manifestaciones clínicas y radiológicas, dependiendo del momento del ciclo vital del parásito. El diagnóstico diferencial más importante de esta enfermedad es la tuberculosis pulmonar. En este artículo se describe esta enfermedad en dos niñas con diferentes manifestaciones pulmonares. La paragonimiasis se debe sospechar en pacientes con tos crónica, esputo herrumbroso, dolor torácico, con o sin compromiso cerebral, que viven o han residido en una zona endémica y que presentan una eosinofília elevada, con cambios radiológicos sugestivos del síndrome de Loeffler.ABSTRACT: Paragonimiasis is a parasitic, food-borne zoonosis, caused by species of trematodes of the genus Paragonimus, found in tropical and subtropical areas of Asia, Africa and America. Human beings become infected by ingestion of raw or undercooked freshwater shellfish. The infection primarily affects the lungs, with the development of multiple clinical and radiological manifestations, depending on the moment in the life cycle of the parasite. The most important differential diagnosis of this disease is pulmonary tuberculosis. We report two cases of lung paragonimiasis in aboriginal Colombian girls with different pulmonary manifestations. Paragonimiasis should be suspected in patients with chronic cough, rusty sputum, chest pain, with or without brain involvement, who live or have lived in en-demic areas and have a highlevel eosinophilia with radiographic changes suggestive of Loeffler’s syndrome

    The role of the tutor in the strategy Problem-Based Learning in medical education

    ABSTRACT: In the context of the curricular renewal undertaken since 2000, the Faculty of Medicine (University of Antioquia, Medellín, Colombia) has implemented the teaching strategy ProblemBased Learning (PBL). This article discusses the role of PBL tutors, teacher training and the perception of students and teachers on the performance of tutors. The study is part of a larger qualitative study aimed at evaluating the impact of PBL on medical curriculum at this institution. A triangulation of sources was used. They were: data provided by PBL participants (students, tutors and coordinators), analysis of articles about the strategy written by teachers of this Faculty and information obtained from experts in the topic. It was found that PBL has stimulated the adoption of new roles amoung teachers, and that students are satisfied with this way of learning and interacting with teachers. However, there are still weaknesses in PBL training among teachers, which generate inconsistencies in the development of the strategy. It is recommended to broaden and deepen teacher training in order to strengthen the role of tutors in PBL, as well as to establish common spaces to share practices and discourses.RESUMEN: La Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad de Antioquia ha aplicado la estrategia didáctica de Aprendizaje Basado en Problemas (ABP) en el proceso de la renovación curricular que inició en el año 2000. Este artículo analiza la función de los tutores, la formación docente y la percepción de los estudiantes y los profesores sobre el desempeño de los tutores en el ABP. Se basa en un estudio cualitativo más amplio, tendiente a la evaluación del impacto de esa didáctica en el currículo de Medicina de la institución. Se hizo una triangulación de fuentes con datos suministrados por actores participantes en el ABP (estudiantes, tutores y coordinadores), los artículos de análisis sobre la estrategia producidos por profesores de la Facultad y la información obtenida de entrevistas con expertos en el tema. Se encontró que esa didáctica ha estimulado la adopción de nuevos roles entre los docentes y hay satisfacción entre los estudiantes con esta manera de aprender y de relacionarse con los profesores. Se hallaron debilidades en la formación de ABP entre los docentes, lo cual genera inconsistencias en el desarrollo de la estrategia. Se recomienda ampliar y profundizar la capacitación para fortalecer la función del tutor, así como establecer espacios comunes para compartir prácticas y discursos

    The Fourteenth Data Release of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey: First Spectroscopic Data from the extended Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey and from the second phase of the Apache Point Observatory Galactic Evolution Experiment

    The fourth generation of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS-IV) has been in operation since July 2014. This paper describes the second data release from this phase, and the fourteenth from SDSS overall (making this, Data Release Fourteen or DR14). This release makes public data taken by SDSS-IV in its first two years of operation (July 2014-2016). Like all previous SDSS releases, DR14 is cumulative, including the most recent reductions and calibrations of all data taken by SDSS since the first phase began operations in 2000. New in DR14 is the first public release of data from the extended Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (eBOSS); the first data from the second phase of the Apache Point Observatory (APO) Galactic Evolution Experiment (APOGEE-2), including stellar parameter estimates from an innovative data driven machine learning algorithm known as "The Cannon"; and almost twice as many data cubes from the Mapping Nearby Galaxies at APO (MaNGA) survey as were in the previous release (N = 2812 in total). This paper describes the location and format of the publicly available data from SDSS-IV surveys. We provide references to the important technical papers describing how these data have been taken (both targeting and observation details) and processed for scientific use. The SDSS website (www.sdss.org) has been updated for this release, and provides links to data downloads, as well as tutorials and examples of data use. SDSS-IV is planning to continue to collect astronomical data until 2020, and will be followed by SDSS-V.Comment: SDSS-IV collaboration alphabetical author data release paper.     Avances en la institucionalización del compromiso ambiental en las universidades colombianas

    La Red Colombiana de Formación Ambiental (RCFA) y la Red Ambiental de Universidades Sostenibles (RAUS), se unen para adelantar el III Foro Colombiano Universidades y Sostenibilidad, el cual tuvo lugar los días 6 y 7 de septiembre de 2018 en la Universidad Los Libertadores en la ciudad de Cartagena. Para la realización de este Foro, se contó con el apoyo institucional de la Fundación Universidad los Libertadores, Universidad Sergio Arboleda y Universidad de Ciencias Aplicadas y Ambientales-UDCA. Este evento se realizó tres años después del II Foro Colombiano Universidades y sostenibilidad, el cual se llevó a cabo en Agosto del 2015 en la biblioteca Aduanilla de Paiba de la Universidad Distrital en Bogotá, y cinco años después del I Foro, llevado a cabo en Octubre de 2013, en el campus universitario de la Universidad de San Buenaventura, sede Medellín (Bello, Antioquia). El primer Foro en Colombia hizo parte de la serie de diez Foros Nacionales y un Foro Latinoamericano con el mismo título que se efectuaron durante todo el año 2013, coordinados por la Alianza de Redes Iberoamericanas de Universidades por la Sustentabilidad y el ambiente (Ariusca) y la Red de Formación Ambiental para América Latina y el Caribe (RFA-ALC) del Programa de las Naciones Unidas para el Medio Ambiente (PNUMA) (Sáenz et al., 2013). Todos estos eventos hicieron parte de la agenda común de Ariusa y RFA-ALC, acordada para 2013 en el marco de su participación en la Alianza Mundial de Universidades sobre Ambiente y Sostenibilidad (Gupes), que promueve la Unidad de Educación y Formación Ambiental, de la sede central del PNUMA en Nairobi. De la misma manera, el II Foro Colombiano Universidades y Sostenibilidad se articula con la nueva serie de eventos equivalentes que se vienen realizando durante 2014 y 2015 en varios países de América Latina y el Caribe, como parte de la segunda Agenda GUPES (Sáenz et al., 2013)

    The Seventeenth Data Release of the Sloan Digital Sky Surveys: Complete Release of MaNGA, MaStar and APOGEE-2 Data

    This paper documents the seventeenth data release (DR17) from the Sloan Digital Sky Surveys; the fifth and final release from the fourth phase (SDSS-IV). DR17 contains the complete release of the Mapping Nearby Galaxies at Apache Point Observatory (MaNGA) survey, which reached its goal of surveying over 10,000 nearby galaxies. The complete release of the MaNGA Stellar Library (MaStar) accompanies this data, providing observations of almost 30,000 stars through the MaNGA instrument during bright time. DR17 also contains the complete release of the Apache Point Observatory Galactic Evolution Experiment 2 (APOGEE-2) survey which publicly releases infra-red spectra of over 650,000 stars. The main sample from the Extended Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (eBOSS), as well as the sub-survey Time Domain Spectroscopic Survey (TDSS) data were fully released in DR16. New single-fiber optical spectroscopy released in DR17 is from the SPectroscipic IDentification of ERosita Survey (SPIDERS) sub-survey and the eBOSS-RM program. Along with the primary data sets, DR17 includes 25 new or updated Value Added Catalogs (VACs). This paper concludes the release of SDSS-IV survey data. SDSS continues into its fifth phase with observations already underway for the Milky Way Mapper (MWM), Local Volume Mapper (LVM) and Black Hole Mapper (BHM) surveys

    The 16th Data Release of the Sloan Digital Sky Surveys: First Release from the APOGEE-2 Southern Survey and Full Release of eBOSS Spectra

    This paper documents the 16th data release (DR16) from the Sloan Digital Sky Surveys (SDSS), the fourth and penultimate from the fourth phase (SDSS-IV). This is the first release of data from the Southern Hemisphere survey of the Apache Point Observatory Galactic Evolution Experiment 2 (APOGEE-2); new data from APOGEE-2 North are also included. DR16 is also notable as the final data release for the main cosmological program of the Extended Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (eBOSS), and all raw and reduced spectra from that project are released here. DR16 also includes all the data from the Time Domain Spectroscopic Survey and new data from the SPectroscopic IDentification of ERosita Survey programs, both of which were co-observed on eBOSS plates. DR16 has no new data from the Mapping Nearby Galaxies at Apache Point Observatory (MaNGA) survey (or the MaNGA Stellar Library "MaStar"). We also preview future SDSS-V operations (due to start in 2020), and summarize plans for the final SDSS-IV data release (DR17)
