The economic effects of road building (beyond those accounted for in cost-benefit analysis) are not well understood. This thesis examines the issues surrounding those effects and attempts to clarify the relationship between road building and industrial location and to identify the effect on employment of that location. The literature reviewed leads to some doubt as to the efficacy of roads as an economic tool. A scries of interviews with representatives of business and property professionals in three areas adjacent to motorways is carried out. These covered the firms' location or relocation decisions, their production costs, transport needs and employment. The conclusions drawn echo the above statements based on reviewed literature: 1. There was a general lack of knowledge of transport within a firm despite subjects' very good understanding of the rest of the firms' operations. 2. The importance of major roads to the business location decision and its perceived importance to the operations of the firms was low. Property professionals sec roads as an effective marketing tool. 3. Firms have a tendency to shed labour upon relocation although this does not necessarily constitute a net loss of employment but a redistribution. Recommendations are made for further research

The author of the doctoral thesis titled Scouting in the postmodern era deals with the creation of conditions for extracurricular education and comprehensive specific description of the history, mission and principles of Scouting. This topic is important because the Scout Movement had com-pleted the 100th anniversary of its existence, it has lost none of its appeal to young people and vice versa appeals to a growing number of adults. This thesis, through the comparative study of historical sources and current events, analyses didactics, methodology and development of Scouting in the international environment and its specific development in Czech countries, often influenced by particular political situation. Therefore, it reflects particularly the position of Scouting in postmodern era and explains the challenges of Scout activities for the future as part of extracurricular education with the aim to developing universal personal skills of children and young people and contribution of Scouting to general improvement of social environment. Proto reflektuje zejména zasazení skautingu do postmoderní doby a objasňuje výzvy skautské činnosti pro budoucnost ja-kožto součásti mimoškolní výchovy s cílem všestranného osobního rozvoje kompetencí dětí a mladých lidí. Skauting je tak chápán jako příspěvek k obecné všenápravě. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)Department of EducationKatedra pedagogikyFaculty of ArtsFilozofická fakult

Praktickou část tvoří konkrétní analýzy vnějšího i vnitřního prostředí firmy, včetně PEST analýzy zkoumající politicko-legislativní, ekonomické, sociální a technologické faktory ovlivňující podnikání firmy a finanční analýzy. SWOT analýza identifikovala silné stránky, slabé stránky, příležitosti a hrozby firmy. The aim of the masters thesis is to design a strategy for a distillery and a liquor factory. In the theoretical-methodological part, attention is given to key concepts from the fields of management and strategic direction. It also includes the examination of strategic analysis processes and the definition of external and internal environment analysis. Subsequently, the investigated company and its specifics are introduced. The practical part consists of specific analyses of the company's external and internal environments, including a PEST analysis examining the political-legislative, economic, social, and technological factors affecting the company's business, and financial analysis. A SWOT analysis identified the company's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Based on these analyses, three strategies have been developed that could contribute to the company's growth and competitiveness. The thesis also includes a crisis scenario focusing on a potential crisis situation that could affect the company. Overall, the presented thesis provides specific and practical guidelines for developing a strategy for a distillery and a liquor factory.115 - Katedra managementuvýborn

Benign and malignant tumors of the organs of the female reproductive system are the most common diseases requiring medical and surgical treatment. They are rarely the cause of acute complications. However, the thromboembolic disease is a serious illness, sometimes causing death due to acute the pulmonary embolism. Venous thromboembolism secondary to Benign and malignant tumors of the organs of the female reproductive system should be considered in a female presenting with abdominal mass and pelvic pressure. Thromboembolic disease secondary to large tumors should be treated with anticoagulation then hysterectomy. The article presents an analysis of modern literature on optimal prevention of the pulmonary thromboembolism in patients with tumors of the female reproductive system. There are analysis data of 17 (0.7 %) cases of the pulmonary thromboembolism that occurred of 2358 gynecological and oncogynecologic patients

The definitive version was published in Advances in Marine Biology 63, edited by Michael Lesser, :197-246. Academic Press (Elsevier), 2013. ISBN: 9780123942821. doi:10.1016/B978-0-12-394282-1.00004-1Sound is the primary sensory cue for most marine mammals, and this is especially true for cetaceans. To passively and actively acquire information about their environment, cetaceans have perhaps the most derived ears of all mammals, capable of sophisticated, sensitive hearing and auditory processing. These capabilities have developed for survival in an underwater world where sound travels five times faster than in air, and where light is quickly attenuated and often limited at depth, at night, and in murky waters. Cetacean auditory evolution has capitalized on the ubiquity of sound cues and the efficiency of underwater acoustic communication. The sense of hearing is central to cetacean sensory ecology, enabling vital behaviors such as locating prey, detecting predators, identifying conspecifics, and navigating. Increasing levels of anthropogenic ocean noise appears to influence many of these activities. Here we describe the historical progress of investigations on cetacean hearing, with a particular focus on odontocetes and recent advancements. While this broad topic has been studied for several centuries, new technologies in the last two decades have been leveraged to improve our understanding of a wide range of taxa, including some of the most elusive species. This paper addresses topics including how sounds are received, what sounds are detected, hearing mechanisms for complex acoustic scenes, recent anatomy and physiology studies, the potential impacts of noise, and mysticete hearing. We conclude by identifying emerging research topics and areas which require greater focus. In compiling this review, TAM was supported by the John E. and Anne W. Community Engagement and Offender Re-entry

    No full text
Prisoner re-entry is a prevalent, challenging and an often-neglected issue in the United States. Upon release from prison, offenders are met with several barriers that prohibit successful transition back into the community. The lack of societal support and community engagement is a major contribution to the barriers and restrictions imposed on ex-offenders and their inability to successfully transition into law-abiding citizens. The purpose of this project is to examine community awareness of ex-offender challenges and re-integrative initiatives, investigate what hinders community engagement during the transition process, and to assess community willingness in re-entry initiatives. Findings from this study will be valuable to mental health and criminal justice professionals in developing and implementing better interventions that include community engagement. Additionally, findings could prompt policy-makers to re-examine and reduce the number of collateral consequences imposed on individuals with a felony conviction, seek to assimilate into their communities and become law-abiding citizens.
