Hearing in cetaceans : from natural history to experimental biology

To passively and actively acquire information about their environment, cetaceans have perhaps the most derived ears of all mammals, capable of sophisticated, sensitive hearing and auditory processing. These capabilities have developed for survival in an underwater world where sound travels five times faster than in air, and where light is quickly attenuated and often limited at depth, at night, and in murky waters. Cetacean auditory evolution has capitalized on the ubiquity of sound cues and the efficiency of underwater acoustic communication. The sense of hearing is central to cetacean sensory ecology, enabling vital behaviors such as locating prey, detecting predators, identifying conspecifics, and navigating. Increasing levels of anthropogenic ocean noise appears to influence many of these activities. Here we describe the historical progress of investigations on cetacean hearing, with a particular focus on odontocetes and recent advancements. While this broad topic has been studied for several centuries, new technologies in the last two decades have been leveraged to improve our understanding of a wide range of taxa, including some of the most elusive species. This paper addresses topics including how sounds are received, what sounds are detected, hearing mechanisms for complex acoustic scenes, recent anatomy and physiology studies, the potential impacts of noise, and mysticete hearing. ТРАНСФОРМАЦИЯ ОБУЧАЮЩЕГО ПРОСТРАНСТВА В РАМКАХ АРХИТЕКТУРНОГО ОБРАЗОВАНИЯ

This article examines the harmonious formation of the educational environment of buildings of creative universities of architectural and artistic orientation. The researcher analyzes architectural solutions that organize comfortable, optimal and convenient spaces for the educational process and creativity, not only on the examples of modern times, but also on the monuments of architecture that have remained in history. Considers the technical equipment of the university, innovative methods of organization for a more complete assimilation of knowledge and disclosure of the creative potential of the student. The relevance of this topic is due to an important problem, such as the inconsistency of the existing architectural environment of most domestic institutions of higher education with modern functional, technological and aesthetic requirements. The purpose of the article is to create an integral space of the architectural organization of the educational environment of creative universities based on the analysis of world experience in the design and construction of these facilities.В контексте представленной статьи рассматриваются особенности и принципы формирования образовательной среды зданий творческих вузов архитектурно-художественной направленности. Задача проектирования объектов, способных стать самостоятельным образовательным элементом, обязывает автора проекта анализировать архитектурные решения, организующие комфортные, оптимальные и удобные пространства для учебного процесса и творчества не только на примерах современности, но и на сохранившихся памятниках архитектуры. Необходимо также учитывать техническое оснащение вуза, инновационные методы организации для более полного усвоения знаний и раскрытия творческого потенциала студента. Архитектурный вуз, архитектурная школа позиционируется как инновационная школа современной архитектуры, ориентированная на приобретение уникальных навыков и знаний в области архитектуры и строительства. Актуальность данной темы обусловлена существующей проблемой, такой как несоответствие существующей архитектурной среды большинства отечественных учреждений высшего профессионального образования современным функционально-технологическим и эстетическим требованиям. «Зеленая архитектура», принципы реализации в современных условиях России

The article considers the ecological approach to architecture and its principles. The analysis of "green architecture" and ways of its economical use is carried out. The purpose of the article is to identify the significance of "green architecture" in modern conditions, associated with increased environmental problems. This plan indicates the relevance of this topic. "Green architecture" is designed to form an ecological spatial zone. The principles of its implementation fall on the activities of architects and designers who measure their creative solutions with environmental expediency. They increasingly prefer environmentally friendly materials and architectural solutions that exist in symbiosis with nature.В статье рассмотрен экологический подход к архитектуре и его принципы. Проведен анализ «зеленой архитектуры» и способы ее экономичного использования. Целью статьи является выявление значимости «зеленой архитектуры» в современных российских условиях, связанной с возросшими проблемами экологии. В этом плане обозначена актуальность данной темы. «Зеленая архитектура» призвана формировать экологическую пространственную зону. Принципы ее реализации приходятся на деятельность архитекторов и дизайнеров, которые соизмеряют свои творческие решения с экологической целесообразностью.
