LOS PEROMYSCUS (RODENTIA: MURIDAE) EN LA COLECCIÓN DE MAMÍFEROS DE LA UNIVERSIDAD AUTÓNOMA METROPOLITANA-UNIDAD IZTAPALAPA (UAMI)
We examined the 3704 specimens of rodents of the genera Habromys, Osgoodomys and Peromyscus, except those from the Mexican State of Tlaxcala. Mostly of them are from localities of the Mexican Transvolcanic Belt. We also include those specimens from marginal or occasional fieldwork in different parts of the country, as well as those given or permanent deposit in the Mammal Collection of UAMI. All of them belong to the following species Habromys lophurus, Osgoodomys banderanus, Peromyscus aztecus, P. beatae, P. bullatus, P. difficilis, P. eremicus, P. furvus, P. gratus, P. guatemalensis, P. hylocetes, P. leucopus, P. levipes, P. maniculatus, P. megalops, P. melanocarpus, P. melanophrys, P. melanotis, P. mexicanus, P. ochraventer, P. perfulvus, P. simulus, P. spicilegus, P. yucatanicus, and P. zarhynchus.Se examinaron 3704 ejemplares de ratones de los géneros Habromys, Osgoodomys y Peromyscus, excepto los de Tlaxcala. Overview of processing techniques for surface electromyography signals
Surface electromyography (sEMG) is a technology to assess muscle activation,
which is an important component in applications related to diagnosis,
treatment, progression assessment, and rehabilitation of specific individuals'
conditions. Recently, sEMG potential has been shown, since it can be used in a
non-invasive manner; nevertheless, it requires careful signal analysis to
support health professionals reliably. This paper briefly described the basic
concepts involved in the sEMG, such as the physiology of the muscles, the data
acquisition, the signal processing techniques, and classification methods that
may be used to identify disorders or signs of abnormalities according to
muscular patterns. Specifically, classification methods encompass digital
signal processing techniques and machine learning with high potential in the
field. We hope that this work serves as an introduction to researchers

Near-infrared spectroscopy in NGC 7538
The characterisation of the stellar population toward young high-mass
star-forming regions allows to constrain fundamental cluster properties like
distance and age. These are essential when using high-mass clusters as probes
to conduct Galactic studies. NGC 7538 is a star-forming region with an embedded
stellar population only unearthed in the near-infrared. We present the first
near-infrared spectro-photometric study of the candidate high-mass stellar
content in NGC 7538. We obtained H and K spectra of 21 sources with both the
multi-object and long-slit modes of LIRIS at the WHT, and complement these data
with sub-arcsecond JHKs photometry of the region using the imaging mode of the
same instrument. We find a wide variety of objects within the studied stellar
population of NGC 7538. Our results discriminate between a stellar population
associated to the HII region, but not contained within its extent, and several
pockets of more recent star formation. We report the detection of CO bandhead
emission toward several sources as well as other features indicative of a young
stellar nature. We infer a spectro-photometric distance of 2.7+-0.5 kpc, an age
spread in the range 0.5-2.2 Myr and a total mass ~1.7x10^3 Msun for the older

Andes Basin Focal Project
The CPWF Basin Focal Project for the Andes system of basins worked with a range of local
stakeholders to develop a better understanding of the mechanisms for improving the
productivity of water in the Andes. We considered productivity in broad terms as the
productivity of energy (HEP), food and fiber (agriculture) and livelihoods (industry, transport
and benefit sharing such as Payments for Environmental Services schemes (PES)).
In addition to the compiled data bases and analyses on poverty and institutions, one of the
key deliverables of the project was the development and deployment of the AguAAndes
policy support system (PSS). This integrates analyses of water availability and productivity
within the local environmental and policy context. It is a web-based policy support system
combining an extensive spatial database with process-based models for hydrology, crop
production and socio-economic processes. It is intended to allow analysts and decision
makers to test the potential onsite and offsite impacts of land and water management
decisions in terms of their ability to sustain environmental services and human wellbeing.
Interventions and recommendations for future actions on water and food in the region are
presented
Is Perceived Athlete Leadership Quality Related to Inside Sacrifice and Perceived Performance in Team Sports? The Mediating Role of Team Identification
The study aimed to analyze the relationship between athletes' perceptions of athlete leadership quality, team identification, inside sacrifice, and performance. A total of 299 players of collective sports (soccer, beach soccer, basketball, volleyball; Mage 19.05, SD = 5.10) participated through a cross-sectional design survey. Data were analyzed using structural equation modeling. Results highlight the positive relationships between perceived quality of athlete leaders, inside sacrifice, and perceived performance, and between inside sacrifice and perceived performance. Furthermore, inside sacrifice perceived by the athletes was a positive mediator between perceived athlete leadership quality and perceived performance. Also, team identification was a positive mediator in the association between inside sacrifice and perceived performance. These findings extend knowledge about the athlete leadership quality context. These results can also be useful for further research and implications in team sports' performance, as coaches and sports psychologists would have more information about their teams' perceptions of leadership quality to achieve positive outcomes in players' inside sacrifice and performance. Amphiphilic Cationic Carbosilane-PEG Dendrimers: Synthesis and Applications in Gene Therapy
Here we synthesized carbosilane, generation 1 to 3, and PEG-based dendrons functionalized at the periphery with NHBoc groups and at the focal point with azide and alkyne moieties, respectively. The coupling of these two types of dendrons via click chemistry led to the formation of new hybrid dendrimers with two distinct moieties, the hydrophobic carbosilane and the hydrophilic PEG-based dendron. The protected dendrimers were transformed into cationic ammonium dendrimers. These unique amphiphilic dendrimers were studied as vectors for gene therapy against HIV in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) and their performance was compared with that of a PEG-free carbosilane dendrimer. The presence of the PEG moiety afforded lower toxicities and evidenced a weaker interaction between dendrimers and siRNA when compared to the homodendrimer analogous. Near-infrared Linear Polarization of Ultracool Dwarfs
We report on near-infrared J- and H-band linear polarimetric photometry of
eight ultracool dwarfs (two late-M, five L0-L7.5, and one T2.5) with known
evidence for photometric variability due to dust clouds, anomalous red infrared
colors, or low-gravity atmospheres. The polarimetric data were acquired with
the LIRIS instrument on the William Herschel Telescope. We also provide
mid-infrared photometry in the interval 3.4-24 micron for some targets obtained
with Spitzer and WISE, which has allowed us to confirm the peculiar red colors
of five sources in the sample. We can impose modest upper limits of 0.9% and
1.8% on the linear polarization degree for seven targets with a confidence of
99%. Only one source, 2MAS, J02411151-0326587 (L0), appears to be strongly
polarized (P ~ 3%) in the J-band with a significance level of P/sigma_P ~ 10.
The likely origin of its linearly polarized light and rather red infrared
colors may reside in a surrounding disk with an asymmetric distribution of
grains. Given its proximity (66 +/- 8 pc), this object becomes an excellent

Ultracool dwarf benchmarks with \emph{Gaia} primaries

GRB 060121: Implications of a Short/Intermediate Duration Gamma-Ray Burst at High Redshift
Since the discovery of the first short-hard gamma-ray burst afterglows in
2005, the handful of observed events have been found to be embedded in nearby
(z < 1), bright underlying galaxies. We present multiwavelength observations of
the short-duration burst GRB 060121, which is the first observed to clearly
outshine its host galaxy (by a factor >10^2). A photometric redshift for this
event places the progenitor at a most probable redshift of z = 4.6, with a less
probable scenario of z = 1.7. In either case, GRB 060121 could be the
farthermost short-duration GRB detected to date and implies an
isotropic-equivalent energy release in gamma-rays comparable to that seen in
long-duration bursts. We discuss the implications of the released energy on the
nature of the progenitor. These results suggest that GRB 060121 may belong to a
family of energetic short-duration events, lying at z > 1 and whose optical
afterglows would outshine their host galaxies, unlike the first short-duration
GRBs observed in 2005. The possibility of GRB 060121 being an intermediate
