Technology management in universities is facing a paradigm change determined by the continuous evolution of technology, and by the consequences that these developments impose on the organizational issues. We should shift from a vision centered on technology to a one focused on services that fulfill the requirements of the academic community and aligned with the strategy of each particular university. This change has to start by a consideration on which are the offered services, and how are they offered. This paper summarizes the work done in by the working group on this issue of the Spanish CRUE-TIC. The paper summarized the legal framework, the proposed organization of the services, and the risks and benefits from this process

Aplicación de estrategias CRM para la mejora de la eficiencia en la oferta de servicios universitarios. La visión de 0 a 360 grados en la Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha

    Get PDF

Estimation of Colombia's tax gap: proactive measures to reduce it

Using a Structural Equation Model (sem) new evidence of the sensitivity Colombia’s tax gap to tax evasion between 1970 and 2018, is here presented. While formulating three latent variables related to tax evasion: 1) macroeconomic instability (EIM), 2) non-compliance with income tax (EIRC) and 3) underground economy (ESE), the impact on public tax revenue (IPT) is shown, revealing the urgency of proposing proactive mechanisms to reduce the tax gap

Water decolorization using tuned ternary Deep Eutectic solvents

A method to totally decolorize textile wastewaters using new extraction solvents is proposed, with the aim of vastly reducing water consumption. This technique allows for water reuse while solving one of the biggest problems of the textile industry: the generation of huge amounts of liquid residues. In these effluents, dyes are the most common present pollutants, and are toxic to both human and aquatic life, and to the environment. Full decolorization is an indispensable prerequisite to obtain a clean water that can be repurposed following circular economy principles. To decolorize aqueous streams, liquid–liquid extraction is a widely used technique, achieving both the recovery of the pollutants and the used solvent. In this context, Deep Eutectic Solvents are a promising candidate for novel optimized processes. In this work, we propose several of these agents, formed from tetrabutylammonium chloride, thymol, menthol and decanoic acid, optimized for interaction with a wide array of dye classes and processable physicochemical properties. Across all the studied solvents, it was possible to achieve high extraction efficiency, with full decolorization for most dyes, at very low solvent to aqueous phase ratios. Furthermore, assays using synthetic effluents, containing dyes and other chemicals used to ensure a correct dyeing process, show that our solvents are good candidates to treat streams as those found in industry.Agencia Estatal de Investigación (AEI) | Ref. Textile industries release dangerous wastewater that contain dyes into the environment. Due to their toxic, carcinogenic and mutagenic nature, they must be removed before the discharge. Liquid–liquid extraction has proven to be an efficient method for the removal of these dyes. As extractants, deep eutectic solvents (DESs) have shown excellent results in recent years, as well as presenting several green properties. Therefore, four different hydrophobic DESs based on natural components were prepared thymol:decanoic acid (T:D (1:1)), thymol:DL-menthol (T:M (1:1)), thymol:DL-menthol (T:M (1:2)) and thymol:coumarin (T:C (2:1)) for the extraction of Malachite Green (MG), Brilliant Blue G (BBG), Acid Yellow 73 (AY73), Reactive Red 29 (RR29), Acid Blue 113 (AB113), Reactive Black 5 (RB5), Remazol Brilliant Blue (RBB), Direct Yellow 27 (DY27), Acid Blue 80 (AB80), Direct Blue 15 (DB15) and Acid Violet 43 (AV43) dyes from water. The operational parameters of the liquid–liquid extraction were selected in order to save time and materials, resulting in 30 min of stirring, 15 min of centrifugation and an aqueous:organic ratio of 5:1. In these conditions, the highest values of extraction obtained were 99% for MG, 89% for BBG and 94% for AY73. Based on these results, the influence of the aqueous:organic phase ratio and the number of necessary stages to achieve water decolorization was studied.Xunta de Galicia | Ref. Genome Instability and Transcription Elongation Impairment in Human Cells Depleted of THO/TREX

    Get PDF
THO/TREX connects transcription with genome integrity in yeast, but a role of mammalian THO in these processes is uncertain, which suggests a differential implication of mRNP biogenesis factors in genome integrity in yeast and humans. We show that human THO depletion impairs transcription elongation and mRNA export and increases instability associated with DNA breaks, leading to hyper-recombination and γH2AX and 53BP1 foci accumulation. This is accompanied by replication alteration as determined by DNA combing. Genome instability is R-loop–dependent, as deduced from the ability of the AID enzyme to increase DNA damage and of RNaseH to reduce it, or from the enhancement of R-loop–dependent class-switching caused by THOC1-depletion in CH12 murine cells. Therefore, mammalian THO prevents R-loop formation and has a role in genome dynamics and function consistent with an evolutionary conservation of the functional connection between these mRNP biogenesis factors and genome integrity that had not been anticipated

Differential cross section measurements for the production of a W boson in association with jets in proton–proton collisions at √s = 7 TeV

    Get PDF
Measurements are reported of differential cross sections for the production of a W boson, which decays into a muon and a neutrino, in association with jets, as a function of several variables, including the transverse momenta (pT) and pseudorapidities of the four leading jets, the scalar sum of jet transverse momenta (HT), and the difference in azimuthal angle between the directions of each jet and the muon. The data sample of pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV was collected with the CMS detector at the LHC and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 5.0 fb[superscript −1]. The measured cross sections are compared to predictions from Monte Carlo generators, MadGraph + pythia and sherpa, and to next-to-leading-order calculations from BlackHat + sherpa. The differential cross sections are found to be in agreement with the predictions, apart from the pT distributions of the leading jets at high pT values, the distributions of the HT at high-HT and low jet multiplicity, and the distribution of the difference in azimuthal angle between the leading jet and the muon at low values.United States.
