Aysheaia prolata from the Wheeler Formation (Cambrian, Drumian) is a frontal appendage of the radiodontan Stanleycaris
Aysheaia prolata Robison, 1985, was described as the only lobopodian from the Cambrian (Drumian) Wheeler
Formation in Utah, and the sole representative of this genus besides the type species Aysheaia pedunculata,
from the Cambrian (Stage 5) Stephen Formation, British Columbia. A redescription of Aysheaia prolata reveals
previously overlooked morphological features, including segmental boundaries between putative lobopods, and
curved terminal spines on the putative anterior end. These observations undermine lobopodian affinities of
Aysheaia prolata, and instead we interpret this specimen as an isolated radiodontan frontal appendage. The
presence of 11 podomeres, five of which possess elongate and anteriorly recurved ventral blades with auxiliary
spines, together with shorter robust dorsal spines, identify the specimen as Stanleycaris Caron et al., 2010. This
represents the first report of Stanleycaris outside of the Cambrian (Stage 5) thin Stephen Formation in British
Columbia, expanding its palaeobiogeographic and stratigraphic range. Aysheaia is left as a monotypic genus
endemic to the Burgess Shale. The Spence Shale luolishaniid Acinocrinus stichus is currently the only
lobopodian known from the Cambrian of Utah
First Record Along The Uruguayan Coast Of The Largest Sea Nettle Jellyfish, Chrysaora Plocamia (lesson, 1830) (cnidaria: Scyphozoa)
Chrysaora plocamia is one of the 15 species of the jellyfish genus Chrysaora. This species has an unusualdistribution pattern, occurring on both Atlantic and Pacific coasts of South America. It is distributed along the southeastern Pacific Ocean, encompassing coastal areas of Peru and Chile, and reaching the Patagonian coast of Argentina in the southwestern Atlantic. During two separate events, two large specimens of Chrysaora were collected on the east coast of Uruguay at La Paloma. Based on morphology and molecular data, these specimens were identified as Chrysaora plocamia. These records are described along with oceanographic features observed at that time. Unusual oceanographic and atmospheric conditions may explain the presence of these specimens 1,100 km north of the current northernmost known distribution. Š 2016 Check List and Authors.12
The effects of the ecotourism in the relationships between inhabitants and their environment are complex and multidimensional. To explore these effects, two community ecotourism initiatives in the Guaviare Province were comparatively analyzed. This territory has been historically affected by the armed conflict and today is given priority as a scenery for the peace construction. The analysis herein articulates approaches both from the political ecology and the socio-ecological systems and considers how important it is to understand the power relations emerging in community ecotourism contexts that, in turn, help to measure how this kind of tourism impacts the socio-ecological dynamics and the strategies by the peasant families who try to diversify their economies to made them sustainable. Low Background Micromegas in CAST
Solar axions could be converted into x-rays inside the strong magnetic field
of an axion helioscope, triggering the detection of this elusive particle. Low
background x-ray detectors are an essential component for the sensitivity of
these searches. We report on the latest developments of the Micromegas
detectors for the CERN Axion Solar Telescope (CAST), including technological
pathfinder activities for the future International Axion Observatory (IAXO).
The use of low background techniques and the application of discrimination
algorithms based on the high granularity of the readout have led to background
levels below 10 counts/keV/cm/s, more than a factor 100 lower than
the first generation of Micromegas detectors. The best levels achieved at the
Canfranc Underground Laboratory (LSC) are as low as 10
counts/keV/cm/s, showing good prospects for the application of this
technology in IAXO. The current background model, based on underground and
surface measurements, is presented, as well as the strategies to further reduce
the background level. Finally, we will describe the R&D paths to achieve
sub-keV energy thresholds, which could broaden the physics case of axion
helioscopes.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figures, Large TPC Conference 2014, Pari
Background: Preventive pediatrics has proven to be one of the essential pillars to maintain the level of well-being in childhood. However, we still find certain fields that do not seem to be sufficiently evaluated, such as the dental status of pediatric patients. The first visit to the dentist, a fundamental fact to control the proper growth and state of the stomatological apparatus, is not usually regulated by the pediatricians, leaving many times at the will of the parents the age at which they take their children to the dentist. This small study becomes novel since there are not many publications that investigate the social factors that lead a pediatric patient to visit the dentist for the first time. Objectives: We studied a sample of pediatric patients in our environment and we intend to find out if a social factor, such as the number of children a family has, may influence the fact of going to the stomatologic specialist for the first time. Material and method: data are collected from all pediatric patients between the ages of 1 and 12 who attend the PĂŠrez Colomina Dental Clinic between 2016 and 2017. This clinic has been in operation for 25 years in the urban area of the city of Zaragoza, can be considered as a center that has a representative sample of pediatric care since it caters to children from both the public system of oral care for children and youth (PABIJ), as well as mutualists of the public administration and other companies concerted and private. The survey includes, among other data, the age at which the pediatric patient comes to the dentist for the first time, as well as the number of siblings he presents.
Results: Of the total of only children, at four years, 28.55% of the children went to the dentist, while 80.48% had attended at least once at the age of six. Of the total of children with siblings, at four years 42.5% of the children went to the dentist, while 89.89% had already gone to the dental office at least once at the age of six. Conclusions: It is striking that pediatric patients with siblings are taken to the dental office before the only children, a fact that may be motivated because when trying to attend to the dental needs of a child, it is used to control the rest of the infants that make up the family. More research should be done in this regard to help promote stomatological control by both pediatricians and parents
Interactions between wear and corrosion on cast and sintered Ti-12Nb alloy in comparison with the commercial Ti-6Al-4V alloy
This work investigates the corrosion and tribocorrosion behavior of alpha + beta Ti-12Nb alloy processed by casting and sintering, in 9 g/l NaCl solution at body temperature, and compares the results with the commercial Ti-6Al-4 V alloy. Different electrochemical techniques were used to access the corrosion behavior. Tribocorrosion behavior was studied at open circuit potential under continuous and intermittent sliding, and at anodic potentiostatic condition under continuous sliding. Results revealed that Ti-12Nb alloys presented similar tribocorrosion behavior although the sintered one exhibited a better corrosion behavior. Nevertheless, Ti-6Al-4 V presented better overall degradation resistance than both Ti-12Nb alloys.- This work was supported by FCT national funds, under the national support to R&D units grant, through the reference project UIDB/04436/2020 and UIDP/04436/2020, together with M-ERA-NET/0001/2015, and co-supported by Brazilian agencies CNPq [grants #308.204/2017-4 and #125.954/2018-2] and FAPESP M-ERA-NET [grant #2015/50.280-5], also by MINECO (Spain) through the program PCIN-2016-123 and the Ramon y Cajal project RYC-2014-15014. Rotational Surfaces in and Solutions in the Nonlinear Sigma Model
The Gauss map of non-degenerate surfaces in the three-dimensional Minkowski
space are viewed as dynamical fields of the two-dimensional O(2,1) Nonlinear
Sigma Model. In this setting, the moduli space of solutions with rotational
symmetry is completely determined. Essentially, the solutions are warped
products of orbits of the 1-dimensional groups of isometries and elastic curves
in either a de Sitter plane, a hyperbolic plane or an anti de Sitter plane. The
main tools are the equivalence of the two-dimensional O(2,1) Nonlinear Sigma
Model and the Willmore problem, and the description of the surfaces with
rotational symmetry. A complete classification of such surfaces is obtained in
this paper. Indeed, a huge new family of Lorentzian rotational surfaces with a
space-like axis is presented. The description of this new class of surfaces is
based on a technique of surgery and a gluing process, which is illustrated by
an algorithm.Comment: PACS: 11.10.Lm; 11.10.Ef; 11.15.-q; 11.30.-j; 02.30.-f; 02.40.-k. 45

Search for a W' boson decaying to a bottom quark and a top quark in pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV
Results are presented from a search for a W' boson using a dataset
corresponding to 5.0 inverse femtobarns of integrated luminosity collected
during 2011 by the CMS experiment at the LHC in pp collisions at sqrt(s)=7 TeV.
The W' boson is modeled as a heavy W boson, but different scenarios for the
couplings to fermions are considered, involving both left-handed and
right-handed chiral projections of the fermions, as well as an arbitrary
mixture of the two. The search is performed in the decay channel W' to t b,
leading to a final state signature with a single lepton (e, mu), missing
transverse energy, and jets, at least one of which is tagged as a b-jet. A W'
boson that couples to fermions with the same coupling constant as the W, but to
the right-handed rather than left-handed chiral projections, is excluded for
masses below 1.85 TeV at the 95% confidence level. For the first time using LHC
data, constraints on the W' gauge coupling for a set of left- and right-handed
coupling combinations have been placed. These results represent a significant
improvement over previously published limits.Comment: Submitted to Physics Letters B. Replaced with version publishe
