ADC and EDI systems, based on global standards included in EAN.UCC systems, are the efficient EC tools of business. Miasto jako książka

The article is an attempt to find such a city-descriptive language which would depict the diversity of views on contemporary Szczecin. While building methodology, the author used the categories proposed by Deyan Sudjic in his book called “Language of Cities”. Szczecin has become the field of formal experiments, model parallel to cities described by Sudjic, which has initiated the cycle of the works. As a source of historical knowledge, the author quotes a seventeenth-century paper by Paul Friedeborn entitled Description of The City of Szczecin. Its original Latin text has been very helpful while working on these objects. Nine works from the Satzspiegel series have the same proportions and a blue-grey colour of the cover. They were made in various graphic and typographic techniques, but their design is always related to the golden division or the spiral of growth. In three of those books specially designed Friedeborn typeface is used. External spectacle, like the one we deal with in the concept of a city the author tried to weave into individual and intimate spaces like those on pages of the book.Miasto jako książka to próba znalezienia takiego języka wizualnego dla opisu miasta, który trafnie scharakteryzowałby różnorodność spojrzeń na współczesny Szczecin. Przy budowaniu metodologii badawczej posłużono się kategoriami zaproponowanymi przez Deyana Sudjica. Rodzinne miasto autorki stało się wzorem tych opisywanych w Języku miast polem eksperymentów formalnych, inicjujących powstający cykl prac. W warstwie merytorycznej źródłem wiedzy był przetłumaczony na język polski siedemnastowieczny druk Paula Frideborna Opis miasta Szczecina, którego oryginalny łaciński tekst posłużył  przy konstruowaniu prezentowanych prac. Dziewięć obiektów z cyklu Satzspiegel ma te same proporcje wymiarów zewnętrznych oraz szaroniebieski kolor okładki. Wykonane są w różnych technikach graficznych i typograficznych oraz rodzajach oprawy. Formalnie dotykają one zagadnień projektowych związanych ze złotym podziałem oraz spiralą wzrostu. W trzech z nich został użyty zaprojektowany specjalnie na potrzeby tych książek krój liter Friedeborn. Zawartość symboliczna to z kolei próba zmierzenia się z tematem miasta, chęć zamiany intymnych przestrzeni stron książki w ekstrawertyczną przestrzeń spektaklu. Zewnętrzną przestrzeń miejską starano się natomiast odtworzyć na kartach ich wewnętrznego teatru.&nbsp

Krajowe inicjatywy na rzecz Elektronicznej Gospodarki wg gbbalnych standardów

W referacie zaprezentowano dwie krajowe inicjatywy na rzecz Elektronicznej Gospodarki, która aby stala się codziennością dla całej gospodarki, musi być wdrażana wg globalnych standardów. Tymi inicjatywami, jakie przygotowywano od lat, ale w sensie za angażowania się w nie wielu firm w praktyce, są prace krajowej Grupy Roboczej ds. EDI oraz polski katalog elektroniczny.Electronic Commerce to become popular has to be implemented with respect to global standards. In the paper two Polish national initiatives in that matter are presented. Misexpression of a chloroplast aspartyl protease leads to severe growth defects and alters carbohydrate metabolism in Arabidopsis

The crucial role of carbohydrate in plant growth and morphogenesis is widely recognized. In this study, we describe the characterization of nana, a dwarf Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) mutant impaired in carbohydrate metabolism. We show that the nana dwarf phenotype was accompanied by altered leaf morphology and a delayed flowering time. Our genetic and molecular data indicate that the mutation in nana is due to a transfer DNA insertion in the promoter region of a gene encoding a chloroplast-located aspartyl protease that alters its pattern of expression. Overexpression of the gene (oxNANA) phenocopies the mutation. Both nana and oxNANA display alterations in carbohydrate content, and the extent of these changes varies depending on growth light intensity. In particular, in low light, soluble sugar levels are lower and do not show the daily fluctuations observed in wild-type plants. Moreover, nana and oxNANA are defective in the expression of some genes implicated in sugar metabolism and photosynthetic light harvesting. Interestingly, some chloroplast-encoded genes as well as genes whose products seem to be involved in retrograde signaling appear to be down-regulated. These findings suggest that the NANA aspartic protease has an important regulatory function in chloroplasts that not only influences photosynthetic carbon metabolism but also plastid and nuclear gene expression

Oxygen sensing coordinates photomorphogenesis to facilitate seedling survival

Successful emergence from the soil is essential for plant establishment in natural and farmed systems. It has been assumed that the absence of light in the soil is the preeminent signal perceived during early seedling development, leading to a distinct morphogenic plan (skotomorphogenesis) [1], characterized by traits providing an adaptive advantage until emergence and photomorphogenesis. These traits include suppressed chlorophyll synthesis, promotion of hypocotyl elongation, and formation of a closed apical hook that protects the stem cell niche from damage [2, 3]. However, absence of light by itself is not a sufficient environmental signal for early seedling development [4, 5]. Reduced oxygen levels (hypoxia) can occur in water-logged soils [6-8]. We therefore hypothesized that below-ground hypoxia may be an important, but thus far undiscovered, ecological component regulating seedling development. Here, we show that survival and establishment of seedlings following darkness depend on their ability to sense hypoxia, through enhanced stability of group VII Ethylene Response Factor (ERFVII) transcription factors. Hypoxia is perceived as a positive environmental component in diverse taxa of flowering plants, promoting maintenance of skotomorphogenic traits. Hypoxia greatly enhances survival once light is perceived, while oxygen is necessary for the subsequent effective completion of photomorphogenesis. Together with light perception, oxygen sensing therefore allows an integrated response to the complex and changing physical microenvironment encountered during early seedling growth. We propose that plants monitor the soil's gaseous environment after germination, using hypoxia as a key external cue to protect the stem cell niche, thus ensuring successful rapid establishment upon emergence above ground

Low-oxygen response is triggered by an ATP-dependent shift in oleoyl-CoA in Arabidopsis

Plant response to environmental stimuli involves integration of multiple signals. Upon low-oxygen stress, plants initiate a set of adaptive responses to circumvent an energy crisis. Here, we reveal how these stress responses are induced by combining (i) energy-dependent changes in the composition of the acyl-CoA pool and (ii) the cellular oxygen concentration. A hypoxia-induced decline of cellular ATP levels reduces LONG-CHAIN ACYL-COA SYNTHETASE activity, which leads to a shift in the composition of the acyl-CoA pool. Subsequently, we show that different acyl-CoAs induce unique molecular responses. Altogether, our data disclose a role for acyl-CoAs acting in a cellular signaling pathway in plants. Upon hypoxia, high oleoyl-CoA levels provide the initial trigger to release the transcription factor RAP2.12 from its interaction partner ACYL-COA BINDING PROTEIN at the plasma membrane. Subsequently, according to the N-end rule for proteasomal degradation, oxygen concentration-dependent stabilization of the subgroup VII ETHYLENE-RESPONSE FACTOR transcription factor RAP2.12 determines the level of hypoxia-specific gene expression. This research unveils a specific mechanism activating low-oxygen stress responses only when a decrease in the oxygen concentration coincides with a drop in energy

Problems and solutions on identification of weapons

Modernizacja Sił Zbrojnych RP wymaga wprowadzania nowych narzędzi elektronicznej gospodarki, jakimi są systemy automatycznej identyfikacji (ADC) i elektronicznej wymiany danych (EDI). Wdrażane obecnie w Siłach Zbrojnych RP systemy ADC wymagają identyfikacji wszystkich zasobów i dostaw do wojska, w tym produktów uzbrojenia, według globalnych standardów i rozwiązań Systemu GS1 (Global System 1). Identyfikacja produktów uzbrojenia identyfikatorami: globalnymi, międzynarodowymi i krajowymi branżowymi z ich atrybutami, w bazach danych i na rzecz ich fizycznego oznaczania, jest wynikiem prowadzonych od 2010 r. prac i badań oraz ponad ćwierćwiekowego doświadczenia. Artykuł prezentuje, zidentyfikowane w praktyce, problemy związane z identyfikacją uzbrojenia i sposoby ich rozwiązywania, na podstawie prac, realizowanych przez ostatnie 4 lata na rzecz wojska i firm - dostawców uzbrojenia.An introduction of new electronic management tools such as Automatic Data Capture systems (ADC) and Electronic Data Inter-change systems (EDI) is needed to upgrade the Polish Armed Forces. ADC systems, presently under implementation in the Polish Armed Forces, require identification of all resources and deliveries received by the army, including pieces of weaponry, in accordance with GS1 global standards and solutions (Global System 1). The identification of weapons along with their attributes and global, international and national brand identifiers in databases, and also through their physical identification, is a result of work and research which has been carried out since 2010, and of over 25 years' experience. The article presents problems with identifying weapons and methods of solving them, relying on the works which have been carried out for the last four years for the army and weapon suppliers
